  • 10. The Poseidon Adventure (1972)
Gene Hackman is totally killer in this great flick, easily the best of the 70's "disaster" films. Hey, look at what you do without silly computer CGI effects, your movie looks real, not like a Playstation videogame.
  • 9. White Line Fever (1975)
The best film about truckers ever made, perfectly by Jan-Michael Vincent and the gorgeous Kay Lenz, with tons of action as well.
  • 8. Rock And Roll High School (1979)
Simply one of the best rock-and-roll films ever, starring The Ramones, probably after The Beatles, the greatest rock band of all time. This film is everything it is supposed to be - fast moving, hilarious, totally tongue-in-cheek. And rated PG - why do films today have to lace themselves with silly profanity so much? This film is timeless.
  • 7. Live And Let Die (1973)
Sorry Connery fans, but Roger Moore is the best Bond. And this is the greatest Bond flick. The best action, locales (I'm from NYC so maybe I'm biased), and the greatest Bond girl in Jane Seymour. Look for all the Chevy Impalas on the highway as 007 steers the runaway car!
  • 6. Death Race 2000 (1975)
This Roger Corman flick, even though it was played for fun by director Paul Bartel (the Man), is also actually a very intelligent film with a few serious points to make, however, the good thing is, it doesn't make those points right in your face, but if you wanna look, they're there. The fact that the remastered DVD is not in widescreen is a complete crime. It's a short film, made to seem shorter because it moves so fast, being such a blast to watch. Carradine and Stallone are incredible!
  • 5. Phantom Of The Paradise (1974)
I always thought this DePalma rock-and-roll cult flick completely blew away the extremely overrated Rocky Horror (who's main asset was Curry). The music, acting, story, everything about this flick destroys Rocky Horror.
  • 4. Slap Shot (1977)
Not only is this the best hockey film ever made, but it's arguably the best sports film ever made as well. Every aspect of this film - the writing, directing, acting, comedy, drama - is perfect.
  • 3. Saturday Night Fever (1977)
No other movie personifies the 70's quite like this one. The biggest shame of the film was, it eventually made the public turn on the Bee Gees, even though in recent years music fans have been giving them respect again. Hey people - they've been making music for 40 years, and this is only 4 songs. And 4 amazing songs they are! The movie couldn't have been made better. Travolta, of course, is incredible.
  • 2. Superman (1978)
Easily the greatest supehero movie ever made, and despite being 25 years older than the new "Spiderman," the FX look a thousand times better. How many times does it have to be said - CGI effects SUCK! They are CARTOONS! But this movie - Brando, Hackman, Reeve, et all - this is an amazing piece of work. Never a dull moment - even when you watch the uncut 3-hour long TV version.
  • 1. Star Wars (1977)
There is no doubt that one of the true greatest films ever made is the best film of the 70's. What can I say that hasn't been said for the past 26 years?
The reason no Speilberg films are on my list, is because I think he is the most overrated film hack there ever has been. Every one of his films (is exactly the same - ten minutes of complete genius surrounded by 90-100 minutes of stupid, boring, unbelievably horrid crap. He is, by far, the worst major filmmaker on the planet today.
