The food in this section are not STRICTLY 70s only food. We have food that were widely available for purchase DURING the 70s. This section was recently redesigned, so if you have any problems please let ChuckyG know.

Are you an 70s food expert or just totally baffled by a leftover 70s food item in your possession? We have a page for Unknown 70s Food when you can send in your pictures, or help others identify their unknown food items.

I also have a page about this for the 80s and 90s.

Ideal Cookies, Comment by Debbie on November 19, 2008 - Report this comment
My father and I used to sneak the whole package the moment my mother brought them home from the grocery. We would eat them all until they were gone. Devour is the word that someone used on this thread, and I have to say, I totally understand where you are coming from. I have missed these cookies and have tried with much disappointment to find a replacement...Please, Nabisco, bring them back!

Punch (candy), Comment by Talvin on November 19, 2008 - Report this comment
Christine...you broke my heart! I LOVED PUNCH candy ever since I was a kid. The wrapper was even cool. with its bright yellow and multi colored polka dots all over...and each end was white. I went back and forth between PUNCH and PEZ...and PUNCH won...but I guess PEZ really won. How sad! If anyone ever finds a wrapper or old sleeve of PUNCH...let me know...I'd love to have it to at least show my kids that GREATEST candy there ever was! : (

Concentrate Cereal, Comment by Mary on November 19, 2008 - Report this comment
This is so fun/funny to read since I see I'm not alone when I crave this cereal. The reason I loved it was because I was allowed to put sugar on it and the mix of sugar and concentrate at the end of the bowl was yummy.
Choco-lite Candy Bar, Comment by Mary on November 18, 2008 - Report this comment
I googled ChocoLite bar and yup, just like the rest here I am! I used to steal dimes from my dad's dresser to get my ChocoLite bar fix. My dream or goal was to have a hidden stash, but I could never even save one! I was an addict. I LOVED them! Oh I wish they would bring it back!

I think you will find that they were originally made by General Mills, not Kellogs.
Punch (candy), Comment by Christine on November 18, 2008 - Report this comment
**** NEWS FLASH **** Punch Candy from the 70's **** Ok, so i had to do a little more research. I tried Googling: Foreign Candy, Argentina Candy, Punches Candy, Nostalic Punch Candy and then the word of all destruction: "DISCONTINUED CANDY". I hate to be he bearer of bad news (I probably won't sleep well tonight) but this website is just one example of a list of discontinued candy: http://www.thecandycompany.com/discontinued_items.shtml I hate to tell everyone this, and I wish it wasn't true, but our favorite all time candy "Punch Candy" is DISCONTINUED. :*( sorry for the bad news. I guess we can all stop looking now....boo-hoo-hoo :*( Christine
Ideal Cookies, Comment by Dave Drake on November 18, 2008 - Report this comment
Oh My God do I have a story about these cookies!!! When I was a kid I used to be a pretty good actor. Well once upon a time my Mom bought these cookies and I faked being sick to stay home from school so I could find where she hid them. It was on the very top shelf. I was a good climber too. I snuck them down and proceded to eat every single one of them in that brown, orange, and see- through wrapper. I can even smell them now, I was about 9 then and now I'm 46. Well it was about 9 AM and I knew I was busted but Mom wasn't due home till much later in the afternoon. So I walked 5 huge blocks in Altadena CA. and spent my little savings on another package. On the way home, I ate just as many as where missing and put them back on the shelf. Well do you know I went right back up to that shelf and proceded to eat the rest of them. At this point I knew I had a problem. I was broke and Mom was gonna know I wasn't sick. Well being a creative kid I scrounged all the coke bottles and pennies in the house that I could find and returned them with a wagon and got more cookies. Finally I returned home with the Ideal cookies after eating my final bite so that the perfect amout was found by my Mom. At that point is when I realized I had the most "Ideal" day ever with my childhood. After dinner, I couldn't eat much, but I even got to share some more Ideal cookies with my Mom and this is where my life of food-crime began. Ooops, maybe the Yoohoos I stole from Uncle Charlie's sandwich shop was first?!?!?! :)
Wigwag Chocolate Bar, Comment by TRACYP on November 18, 2008 - Report this comment
In Ontario you can buy the Curly Wurly in the Bulk Barn food stores at the back with the candy bars from other countries. We found them on the weekend and it was identical to the Wig Wag - messy and stretchy caramel. Makes you feel like a kid again. Weird to fight over them with your husband. ha ha
Punch (candy), Comment by Christine on November 18, 2008 - Report this comment
I remember this candy from the 70's, it was my favorite, and I have been looking for it as well. I do remember it as named: Punch and it was wrapped in a yellow wrapper - long and narrow with the candy stacked against one another. Square in shape, with ridges on both sides of the candy. Sort of like looking into a box on each side. Anyone finds such, let me know: dabeancounter@hotmail.com Thanks Christine
I DO remember, fondly, the 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 peanut butter Oompas of the 70's! I loved them. We had a penny candy store in my neighborhood when I was little. It had all the cool 70's candies. Another uncommon candy was called the "slapstick". Remember those? It was a flat, rectangle soft caramel "lollipop" with pink, white and yellow swirls of sweet "nougat" in the middle. YUM! Miss those!
Purple Passion Soft Drink, Comment by Kathi on November 17, 2008 - Report this comment
When I was a kid (late 60's) and lucky enough to be given a quarter, I would go up to the store and buy a can of Purple Passion (15 cents), a candy or ice cream bar (5 cents), and 10 pieces of penny candy (5 cents-yup, there was some candy that were 2 pieces for a penny!!) That was a jackpot day! ;)
Chum Gum, Comment by Gina on November 17, 2008 - Report this comment

I loved PDQ as a kid too, and remember sprinkling it on my ice cream. Fantastic!! Chocolate ovaltine is a exact twin product as far as I am concerned. I have been telling all my friends to try it on their ice cream or just take a spoonful! It is a new fad around here!!
