    • 10. Message In A Bottle by The Police
Uplifting lyrics by Sting that most anyone can relate to. Great guitar riff by Andy Summers and explosive drumming by Stewart Copeland.
    • 9. Deacon Blues by Steely Dan
Such a relaxing song about a man on the rebound. Great saxaphone, too.
    • 8. Hotel California by The Eagles
Love that guitar intro, and the guitar solo at the end is pretty special too. Passoinate lyrics and vocals as well.
    • 7. Layla by Derek & the Dominos
Eric Clapton performs with such passion on this tune. Most guys and myself included also have felt such passion for a woman, but no one has ever expressed a man's desire to be with a woman as beautifully as on this song.
    • 6. Like A Hurricane by Neil Young
Neil plays and sings with such raw emotion on this song. He really makes his guitar cry.
    • 5. Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
The Floyd is known more for its electronic wizardry, but this song proved they could me moving acoustically as well. Wonderfully sorrowful lyrics that make me think of distant or lost loved ones.
    • 4. Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd
Amazing tribute both musically and lyrically to their fallen bandmate and musical genius, Syd Barrett. Love the keyboard pieces from Richard Wright.
    • 3. Time by Pink Floyd
I can really relate to the idea that life is flying by without us making the most of it. Plus there's the epic guitar solo from Gilmour.
    • 2. Stairway To Heavan by Led Zeppelin
Sure it's been played a lot, but it deserves its frequent airplay. Fantastic acoustic and electric guitar from Jimmy Page, and I love Robert Plant's mystical lyrics.
    • 1. Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
I love the alternating vocals and the dark and light parts of the song. Poignant lyrics by Mr. Waters and the most incredible guitar solo ever by Mr. Gilmour.

As you can tell, I'm a Floyd fanatic. I probably could have added a number of their other songs to the list like Echoes, Dogs, and Us and Them. However, there were also many other great bands during the decade. In fact, the best music ever was produced during the late 60s and 70s.

The song on which all others should be compared. Just listen...

Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd) came close, but I wasn't sure on its status as "1970's". Also Highway To Hell by AC/DC nearly warranted a place along with Moby Dick and Maggie May by Led Zeppelin and Rod Stewart respectively.
