I remember well Fuzzy Wuzzy Soaps. I loved the Blue Poodle best! it would grow ''fur'' (bits of shaved up soap) in like 3 weeks or so--providing you didn't touch it. 'Fur' wouldn't grow where you touched it. Then you just washed away, and eventually you get a prize. I remember getting the same toy 2x, and I still have it. It is a tiny golden cup (though it was see through-with foam on top. aka-- looks like a mug of beer with great foam on top! haha I always played with my liddle kiddles and barbies and the cup was the food

I always wondered where I got that little "beer" cup with the foam on top! I remember the Fuzzy Wuzzy but I didn't remember the prize inside!

I remember my Soap. Can't really remember what animal I had... I was very deprived.. only had one of them. I know that I just about washed the skin off my body trying to get to the prize in the middle... when I finally did, it was a plastic clothes pin. I'm 53 now and thought I had dreamed the whole thing because my husband had never heard of it. Wonder why no one makes it anymore. That would really be cool for kids.

I too am 53, my boyfried a little younger and does not remember Fuzzy Wuzzy. The prize I got inside was a skull with a cigarette that you could light. Nice prizes for kids! But at the time did not think anything of it.

I too am 53 and I remember having the cat and bear. I don't remember what my prize was...very small though. One day more recently, I told my son and a friend of mine....they couldnt believe it...soap that grows fur! I would buy it in a New York minute if someone would re-invent it! Maybe I need to. Hmmm....lots of things in my fridge have fur! : )

I remember fuzzy wuzzy soap. Nobody else remembers it. One of the best memories was on Easter morning receiving a white rabbit and thinking it was a fuzzy wuzzy soap. Rushing to the bathroom and hopping into the tub with it only to find out it was white chocolate. What a mess.

I had a peach fuzzy wuzzy soap in 1964--with a little animal, I think a bear in the center-I was living in NW Tennessee and further south no one has ever heard of it either. I loved it because it smelled so wonderful.

My aunt gave me the Fuzzy Wuzzy cat soap in 1975 for my 10th birthday.. I let the fur grow for about a month on my headboard and then curiosity got the better of me and killed the cat. A lot of hand washes later, I was left with a little red mouse. He took up residence in my doll house kitchen.

i don't remember the prize inside, but i can still smell the soap 35 years later - i also remember fighting in the tub over it with my brother - i bet that's where the prize went!

I'm 52 and remember Fuzzy Wuzzy Soap. Thought I had dreamed it up because I couldn't find anyone else who remembered it. Glad to know it was real. My Grandmother gave me the bear. I loved the growing hair, don't recall the prize. Wish it would come back, probably wouldn't pass FDA.

I loved them, my children did also, and now my grandchild wants one, and I cannot find any and I asked a few people about my age and they look at me like I am crazy! I know I had them and I am not losing my mind!! please if anyone knows where I could get some or how I could make them, tell me.

I'll be 54 in April and yes, I had to have a Fuzzy Wuzzy. I bought only one--the bear and I remember getting bored with the novelty of it quickly. The grayish white fuzz was a very thin and sporadic. I couldn't figure out what the hell it was. It looked like fungus or mold or albino algae. It felt like washing with an SOS pad. And since the novelty of it wore off very quickly, I ended up cutting it up to get to the toy inside after only a few washings. Fuzzy didn't grow hair, and neither did I in all the places that were red and irritated thanks to an allergy. Rock on, 60's kids.

I am 57 and my sister is going to turn 60 in October. I still remind her of how she took my fuzzy wuzzy bear and put it in the water and ruined it! What a suprise when she gets one for her birthday. Hope I can keep this secret for that long.

Oh wow... I just stumbled across this entry while browsing the site and I'm pretty sure I had this soap, though I'd completely forgotten about it. I can just vaguely recall it - I think I got one for my birthday in maybe 1975, when I was in nursery school. The picture of the box looks very familiar. I don't remember what animal I had or what the prize inside was, but this is definitely familiar. I have clearer memories of Bugs Bunny soap, which my brother and I both got in our Christmas stockings in 1976. It was a 3 dimensional carving of Bugs in soap - I think it was blue, and it had a very pungent scent that I still remember today.

I brought it up at a family dinner as I REALLY wanted some again. I remember keeping it in our dstairs broom and not wanting to open it and start it growing so I must not have had many. My niece then got out her Iphone and found a whole case for sale with the advertising. I could no way afford it but hoped hey would break it down and sell me a couple:)Would at least love that magnet and yes kids would too love it today!!!Now on to the search for the poodle barometer.

I am 53 and had the bear soap. I also think there was a duck version. Does anyone remember the pink stuff that came in what looked like a cottage cheese container. It was powder and you mixed it with water and it turned into a pink gooey blob.

My babysitter, an older lady, gave me a cat that grew fur. She has long since passed away, but I remember that cat or kitten. It is one of my strongest, happiest childhood memories. If only she could know the immense positive impact that silly little soap had, even to this day, almost 50 years later.

anyone remember Crazy Foam?
Rob Lambert - October 19, 2014 - Report this comment
Heidi: Crazy Foam, made by the American Aerosal Company, was introduced in 1966, and the first line featured superheroes from DC and Marvel comics. Crazy Foam was a bath soap that sprayed from an aerosal can. This competed directly with Colgate-Palmolive's Soaky bath soap containers with cartoon characters, which became toys when the soap was gone. Unfortunately, aerosal cans made bad toys. While the Soakies were gone by 1967, Crazy Foam lasted until 1971. Some kids mistook it for Wham-O's Silly string, and would spray soap in their eyes playing with it. Not a toy, people!

My fuzzy kitten, which grew hair used to have a little mouse in the middle. There was also a rabbit but I don't think it had anything in the centre. Wow, I loved them.

I got one Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear and my Ma thought it was disgusting... She was pretty sure it was some kind of mold that grew on it. She might have been on to something. I ended up busting it apart for the toy surprise inside anyway.

I remember fuzzy wuzzy soap! I had blue dog and bear the only prize remember was a blue and white whistle. I couldnt remember name of soap and when I typed in "soap with prize" it lead me here. I had a whole cigar box as a kid with these and cracker jacks prizes. Charms mostly that i stung together. The US cant have these small prizes due to kids choking. Todays kids miss out. Cause all I remember is the fun with this soap. Thanks for the memories.

I too remember fuzzy wuzzy soap. As with Carol of Loxahatchee my prize inside was a plastic clothespin, of which I still have. I'm 61 and can't believe I still have it. I feel our life was better then with simpler tokens of our childhoods.

This was one item that was completely lost to memory-land -- for all the things you could remember thanks to Nick at Night or whatever, I hadn't even thought of Fuzzy Wuzzy soap since I was a kid, and I'm 59 now. But when I stumbled across an article about it, one look and I was 9 years old again. I showed it to my wife (same age as me) and she about fainted from the nostalgia wave. What a memory bomb! There is a company that makes them now, but it's just a bear that looks totally different from the original, and, of course, there's no "Free Choking Hazard In Every Bar!"

I remember my grandma buying me a Fuzzy Wuzzy soap too to use at her house when I spent the night. I thought I had dreamed it up too until I was talking to a guy who grew up in Dayton, Ohio like myself. He told me I wasn't crazy; he remembered it & said it was manufactured by the Hewitt Soap factory in Dayton. I contacted Hewitt, expecting them to think I was a flake or something. To my suprize, a really nice guy called back & verified my friend's story. He said he was employed at Hewitt at the tail end of the factory making Fuzzy Wuzzy. Of course, the FDA, EPA or some federal agency forced them to stop manufacturing Fuzzy Wuzzy in the mid 70's, I think he said. I just looked it up on eBay & of what few they have available, it is quite expensive. I thought I found a little Buddha inside mine but that probably is my imagination.
