Description
I believe this is the "female evil kenivel" doll that was described by another person who didn't know her name. She rode the motorcycle and did tricks after being disengaged from some sort of wind up mechanism. I believe it was white which had a handle that you turned quickly in circles which would ultimately send her off at a high rate of speed.

I remember playing with Derry Daring down our hall and my little West Highland Terrier Dog would wait at the other end to catch her. Brilliant

I can still sing the song... The girl of the day Derry Daring is her name. She's carefree and lovely and performing is her game. (vroom vroom vroom vroom (motorcycle engine revving)) Doin' a wheelie up in the air, She's over the top with the wind in her hair. Can she make the big jumP? She's over the top, Derry somersaults the jump, Derry Daring's off to another stunt! (meow) Does anyone else remember this? I looked on Youtube for the commercial but no luck.

I LOVED this doll and would set up ramps and go over and over and over again! There were these other doll things we had that were little and in an egg and I loved the way they smelled?? What were they called?

I never had a Derry Daring and didn't remember the name of the toy until this website. However I CLEARLY watched too much Saturday morning cartoons growing up because the song haunts my brain occasionally. Only the part that goes "Doing a wheelie, up in the air. She's over the top with the wind in her hair." I loved growing up in the '70's and '80's and miss those times : )

I got Derry Daring for Christmas when I was 8 years old. I loved this toy. I would set up book ramps and domino crash walls in the hallway of our apartment. I could never take her outside (in NYC) b/c my mom was afraid someone would steal it from me. But I used to bring it to my friends' house and they had the stunt cycle and wheelie car sets. Then we'd go to their friend Aaron's house who had Evel Knievel and really have some fun! Now I have a whole lot of Derry and Evel stuff, but I would LOVE to see that commercial again! YouTube never seems to have it.

For some reason, I remember her as Debbie Daring, the Action Girl of Today, and she looked different in the artwork of the ads in comics of the mid-Seventies. She played sports as well, I think. There was a Six Million Dollar Man doll as well. But as far as this Debbie is concerned, was this the same toy? I live in South Africa, and I just remembered the ad and googled the name, and can't believe I could have been so mistaken. Ivanhoe van Rooyen.

Allow me to add that there were also a stunningly beautiful Dawn and Fancy Feet doll ad page in these American comics. They had long, long blonde hair, and as an ARCHIE's Betty & Veronica nut during the late Seventies, I like totally got excited over them :) and I would LOVE TO SEE THESE ADS AGAIN but sadly :( unlikely?

Really getting into the spirit now. Debbie Daring wore an All-American star spangled action outfit, she had a motorcycle and there was a van involved as well. Dawn, a totally different doll by another company in another ad, did a Sixties-kind of trippy very with-it swinging arms dance, and wore a short dress. Its unlikely that the actual dolls looked as glamorous. The doll characters were pictured taking part in pageants. Okay, so I'm veering off the Debbie/Derry subject, but does anybody remember these ads? Seeing Jaclyn Smith in 'Circus of Terror' CHARLIE'S ANGELS always makes me think of Debbie Daring as I remember her.

I found a Derry Daring ad in the Dec., 1975 issue of Archie's Pals N Gals. Derry was by Ideal Toys, and is shown in her Trick Cycle, Pop Top Camper and Wheelie Car. Also shown are various Adventure Outfits. Derry was coined the "Action Girl of Today."

I hear the stories that my mom tells about Debbie Daring and I was wondering where I could get one because I have not been able to find one for sale ANYWHERE! And I really wanted to buy my mom one for her birthday or Christmas. Please help!!

I had Derry Daring. I was jealous b/c at Christmas that year my cousin got the trick cycle and I got the wheelie. My dad and I used to set up a ramp made of old paneling on top of a plastic and metal Winnebego toy RV in my hallway. Derry Daring wheelie car worked great!
