Description
Chrissy was the brunet and Velvet was the blonde version - you could pull their hair and it would 'grow' and to shorten it you wound the knob on their back.

Oh my God! I love these dolls. When we were kids, my older sister had Chrissy, and I had Velvet. What great hair they had and what a terrific concept the hair-growing/receding was. My grandfather once made us little "sandals" for the dolls out of a cut-off piece of sponge as the heel, and a small rubber band on top, for the straps. Gramps was gret too - oh how I miss him. I'd give anthing to have these dolls now - awesome.

I loved these dolls too. I have Chrissy and my twin sister has Velvet. You can see the whole world of Chrissy and Velvet, along with their friends and sisters at ChrissyTown. It is full of clothes, the dolls vacations. Its a great site! Check it out.

My name is April Douglas too. I also had a Chrissy doll and my twin sister had Velvet. I still have her in her original dress. They don't make dolls like this anymore. I bought my 3 yr old granddaughter a doll which looked like she had long thick hair. Only to find out that the hair was only along the hair line and completely bald on top! Sad isn't it?

Chrissy and Velvet were my absolute favorite toys while growing up! My Mom used to make all kinds of clothes for them, too. I miss being 7.

Hi. I remember the growing hair dolls and how I was so jealous of my sister's Velvet doll. I requested one for Christmas but I guess my mom thought I could just play with my sister's. I wish I could find one in new condition. They were so awesome!

Yes, I loved those dolls too. Chrissy had red/auburn hair though, not brunette. My sister had Chrissy and I had Velvet. I loved having the one with the blonde hair, but they were both great! Great memories!

I love these dolls and since I had blonde hair I had Velvet and my sister had Chrissy with the auburn hair. My mother doesn't have the originals anymore, but she has other Chrissy and velvet dolls. Also has the smaller Cinnamon doll and she will never part with them! Our childhood dolls are my moms favorites. I miss being 7 too!
