Description
An elastic multicolored band maybe about 3cm thick. The 'rope' was stretched between two people facing one another around the ankles at a distance apart so that the band was pulled tight and a third person - the 'jumper' would jump in and out and twist inside the band wrapping it around one's ankles and attempt jump up out of the twist landing inside (or outside?) the rope without touching it or if you are to touch it you were to land on the rope with one foot on either side of the rope. The tricky part was to do several twists and jump out of them without tumbling or tripping on the band. I don't really remember if this was something we kept score at (by say how many times one could successfully twist and jump up and land inside or outside the band) or... if we simply danced in it like jumping rope. I do remember how fun it was though!

I found one of these the other day, I had to buy it for my daughter. We used to play this at recess all the time back in the 70's. I'm surprised I still remembered how to play it!

We didn't keep score but as the person jumping completed each round of jumps without any mistakes we would move the rope up a few inches. It became quite tricky when the rope got up to the waist high level but oh, so fun. We played for hours during the summer.
