My main form of transport from 1976-1982. The one that survived from '76 thru '80 was spray-painted very shiny gold (even the wheels) in 1979 as this WAS the Disco '70's. Poor Dad thought I had come out of the closet.

Found an ad for Schwinn in a 1962 Archie comic book. A 10-speed bike retailed at $140. Also, from 1962 to '64, "Captain Kangaroo" was a paid spokesman for Schwinn on his daily show. From 10-speeds down to tricycles, Keeshan had them all on the set. He told parents to write Schwinn in Chicago or see a bike dealer. Kellogg's, regular sponsor of "Kangaroo," wanted full-show ad time, so Schwinn was dropped, along with Play-Doh.
