My father, Freddie Joe Ferrara and Mother Sarah Ferrara bought Blackburn Candy Company, the Makers of All Day Corn Suckers, in 1966 from Rob's Grandfather, Elmo Zeik Neil. I was the one who came up with the idea to switch from the penny, nickel, dime or quarter to a popsycle stick embossed with the words "YOU ARE A WINNER". I got the Idea from a Dairy Queen Dilly Bar. The Company was sold in 1069 and was moved to Bryan, TX near Finfeather Road in the Industrial Park thre. My father kept the Cornsucker molds and took the to a small run down house on our cotton farm in Mumford, TX He had to keep the molds for tax reasons or as he told me "RED TAPE. The factory in Bryan made square shaped suckers, The Corn shaped suckers were gone forever as the molds were sold for scrap in the mid 1970's. Please ask me any questions you have as I have many fond memories of the Neil Family and Blackburn Candy Company. I have many stories I would like to share with you all. Neat to have a Mom and Dad who owned a Candy Company. Like Willy Wanka.......
