TAB® Was Made By The COCA-COLA Co. Rather Than "Contaminate" The Coca-Cola Name With A "Diet" Label They Made This Soft Drink. Unfortunately, It Was Made With "Cyclamate" The First Artificial Sweetener. Cyclamate Was Banned By The FDA When Tests Suggested It Was A Carcinogen. TAB® Switched To Saccharin But The Controversy Continued When Tests Suggested That Saccharin Was also a Possible Carcinogen. Coca-Cola® Introduced Diet Coke® With A Revamped Ad Campaign. And TAB® Faded Into Obscurity.

I'm sorry, but that stuff was "awful"! My mom drank that stuff in the late 70's early 80's! I would rather have been "fat" or drink H20!!!! UGHHH!

I remember Dad would buy it because us kids would not drink it. It was a heavy glass bottle. I think there were yellow starburst designs on it.

I live in Springfield, Oregon (right next to Eugene), and I can find Tab in "fridge box" 12-packs and regular 6-packs of 12-ounce cans at Winco (a low-priced, warehouse-style grocery store), Fred Meyer (similar to a Super Wal-Mart) and Albertson's. However, I cannot find it in any kind of bottle, and was personally told by the Coca-Cola bottler that it was no longer being made in bottles or as fountain syrup. However, I was told that 2-liters were still available on the East coast. I drink this stuff all the time, and the aftertaste is something that one can get used to.

I am allergic to Aspartame (nutrasweet) I can still get canned TAB in KC, MO I drank that and when Coke w/Splenda came out I switched, but it didn't taste as good. I like Splenda but the syrup in Coke tasted bad, so no one really liked it.

I tried ordering a Tab once in a restaurant but the counter guy misunderstood me and said he couldn't give me a tab until I ordered something first. Then I decided to order a Pepsi Free, and the guy got bent out of shape and yelled "If you want a Pepsi, pal, you're gonna PAY for it!" Geez, all I wanted was something that had no sugar in it. So he finally got it...and plopped a plain cup of coffee on the counter. Wow.

Tab is the only soda that is diet and actually tastes like coke classic. Diet coke is more of a pepsi taste than tab is.

I would drink Tab because I thought it made me look like the older girls. Here I was, a 60-lb. skinny little girl, drinking Tab, lol!

In the late 70s Coke introduced three non-cola flavors of Tab: black cherry (which was the best of the three), ginger ale (which was bad), and root beer (which was godawful). I don't remember any of them lasting very long, though.

Here's the words to the song they used for the TAB commercial: "TAB ..What a beautiful drink. TAB..For beautiful people. TAB..You're beautiful to me. Cool, refeshing; Just one calorie. TAB..What a beautiful drink. TAB ..For beautiful people. TAB ..You're beautiful..." Then a lady's would come on the the screen, holing a bottle of TAB and says, "Beautiful." as the commercial ends.

Doesn’t Tab cause cancer? I thought thats why it was pulled off the market when I was a kid. But its made a comeback in the past few years… Strange. Must have been an urban myth.

I don't know if anybody but me remembers but for a short period of time I think back in 1979 and 1980 there was Lemon and Lime,Root Beer, and Orange TAB. I also remember drinking a Black Cherry TAB sometime back around.... I don't remember exactly when... but I think it was some time around the mid 70's 1974 I think it was. Tab had several flavors in cans like we can find TAB today if we are lucky.

We always loaded up on TAB in the 60s and early 70s. It had a terrible chemical aftertaste but I sure loved it! TAB still exists, but it's hard to find. When I managed a convenience store in the early 2000's, I used to order it from the vendor. It didn't sell, but I always drank them! LOL!
