Description
I don't remember the exact name, but they came in a plastic, rectangular sleeve, set in plastic slots. It was a flat and round cookie, topped with marshmallow and then chocolate sprinkles. These cookies were so good, I think they also had a rainbow sprinkles version that was not as popular as the chocolate one. They disappeared off shelves around 1985.

OK gang of Sprinkle cookie lovers. I'm going to try again to bring back this unbelievable cookie. I miss this cookie and so do my siblings. I'm going to write or call Sunshine again. I tried it years ago when I couldn't find them anymore. They told me they stopped making them because they were going a healthy route. "HELLO" did Oreo go healthy, no. So come on Sunshine your Cameo's aren't any healthier than the good old fashioned Sprinkle cookie. But it has to be the chocolate one. So, I'll call them today.

The Marshmellow Nut Sundae cookies were the best cookie ever made. They were a small vanilla cookie, topped with marshmellow and dipped in a white coating. I'm not sure if it was white chocolate or something else. I had most of my co-workers hooked on them with one bite. I think the brand was Fancy Foods. Later IGA sold them under the store name. I'd love for you to make them and supply my local Krogers. I'm not a big chocolate lover, but I love cookies and these were just the best.

Wow, my family loved the marshmallow, coconut, chocolate drizzled cookies. They were the best! I agree, if brought back as a retro promotion, you wouldn't be able to keep the shelves stocked. Everyone will want them. Please bring them back and make available again. OHIO

Sunshine Nut Sundae were the best cookie ever made PERIOD!! No one ever came close. Let's clarify. This was a vanilla cookie with marshmallow on top then nuts sprinkled on top of the marshmallow then a white chocolate or secret ingredient poured over the entire cookie and yes you could not stop eating them. Sunshine, "BRING THEM BACK"!

O please bring them back, I still can't go in a store with out taking a look to see if someone may resurrected them.Sunshine nut sundae cookies. I thought the flaver of nut glaze tasted like almond custard. Or? It was so unique, I still crave the taste or what I remember of it.

Sunshine Sprinkle Cookies were not around long (1977-86). Sunshine now is owned by Keebler, a subsidiary of Kellogg's. This treat sort of resembled Nabisco's Pinwheels, which has chocolate completely covering the marshmallow.

I would make them myself too if I had the cookie recipe. I loved those cookies with the chocolate sprinkles on the soft chocolate cookie and that mound of marshmallow was sooo good!
Dee - December 08, 2017 - Report this comment
Too funny! I was just thinking of those cookies. Also my favorite was a chocolate covered graham cracker cookie - not sure of the brand. Could have been Sunshine too. Others don't make chocolate grahams anywhere near that today.

What I remember is that they were all white icing with a cherry or raspberry dot in between the cookie and the marshmallow.... Is that the same brand as whatever it's been talking about here? There's a European thing called a Viva puff that appears to be the same thing more or less but it's chocolate covered.

I know it's not much solace, but Zero candy bars have some of the same taste components as the Nut Sundae cookie. No marshmellow, though.
Richard - November 19, 2019 - Report this comment
Sorry; meant "marshmallow".
Emma - February 28, 2020 - Report this comment
Pretty sure that those were not sprinkles on the top of the cookies. They were little pecan chips. Thats why they were called "Nut" Sundaes.

Sunshine made 3 marshmallow cookies in the 1970's and 1980's. Chocolate Sprinkles, Coconut Mallo Puffs (pink and white) and Marshmallow Bars which were a rectangle coconut bar with a red jelly strip down the middle. I don't think the Nut Sundae was a National offering. Bob is right, the Sunshine Sugar Wafer was super good. Same goes for Lemon Coolers. Yum Yums were not available Nation wide.

Greetings, my (deceased) father-in-law worked for Sunshine many, many moons ago. He had a huge territory in California, from Bakersfield to the Oregon border. Of course, Sunshine would send huge boxes to hand out to clients. My husband and his siblings would nearly attack the poor driver! My late father-in-law died and my husband joined him last year. I’ve been trying to find the elusive Nut Sundae for decades - I know many of his high school have back, too. Wouldn’t it be fun to take them to a reunion? I’d settle for a recipe - oh, please.
