Description
I'm not sure of the name, but I remember when I was a little kid in the 70's my Mom would buy this squeezable cheese in a sausage shaped container with a star shaped opening in the center. You would squeeze the cheese product (I'm sure it wasn't real cheese) through the opening on to crackers and it was star shaped and super sharp (Sharp Chedder Flavor. I loved it!!!

I remember it as Squeez-a-Snack and I think it was made by Kraft. Gross, and yummy!

Wow, I haven't thought of this product in about twenty years, but I used to eat it all the time. I liked the cheddar one with the little bacon bits in it. I used to just squeeze it directly into my mouth! When you're a kid you don't have to worry about causing yourself a heart attack with all the chemicals and excess cholesterol.

We were just talking about this product at work. One thing I remember was the plastic cap would never stay on. I also recall the bacon flavor being my favorite. I think they also had an onion flavored one.

I found an empty package of this in a '65 Mustang my dad rescued from a field a few days ago... Squeez-a-snack sounds like a truly horrifying product. http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~eidolon/images/65_swampstang/DSC_1654sm.jpg

That was the best snack ever..we had it on every fishing, camping trip..and yes the bacon flavor had a black wrapper and was the best..not like this over processed crap now.

It was Squeeze a Snack. I remember it had a pattern at the plastic dispensing disk to make it squeeze out in a fancy shape, much like cake decorating.

Guys..they still make it. Except now it's in a can. Like a whipped cream can. You will find it in the velveeta and cheese whiz aisle in your super market. Still tastes the same, just easier to use.

Actually, Kaleen is right, I looked at the addy that was posted, & viewed the all the pics through that, at first, i thought the year was 1976 because of one of the pictures in there had a button that had happy birthday america seeing that 1976 was celebrating the bicentenial of the country but it would not surprise me if the year was 1975 seeing another picture in there had one of a card that was issued by McDonalds and the expiration date was in 1975 so, it could have been around then when it had the squeeze-a-snak and Kaleen, actually, it is still around, it's called easy cheese. If there was a way to post photos on here i would, but as i have seen so far, there is no way to do so.

I loved this stuff.my mother ,unfortunately was against foodstuffs that weren't in their "natural form".She also claimed I made a mess with this stuff.I guess as a kid, it took 2 hands to squeeze the cheese out and there was no hand to hold the cracker.Makes sense...right?

I remember sometimes if you squeezed the container too hard, a little hole might pop in another part of the plastic. Then every time you squeezed the cheese out, it would come out through the star-shaped hole and the other hole at the same time.

I remember this stuff. My mom bought it all the time in the mid-70s. I thought it was pretty good, but a lot of it got wasted, because you could never get all of it out. You had to poke open the plastic opening with a sharp knife, and if you weren't careful, it would go all the way through and make a hole on the other side.

During my backpacking years, there was always a tube of Kraft Squeez-a-Snak in my food bag. 'Tis a crying shame this product was discontinued.

LOL! Easy Cheese in a can now and no refidgeration necessary is the new Squeeze Cheese! Certainly does not taste the same as the original Sqeeze Cheese!!! I miss that cheese!!!

I remember that cheese well, the reason being that I absolutely loved it ! I personally don't think the cheese in the can is QUITE as good, but still not bad. I do buy it occasionally.

My family used to take Squeeze Cheese to our trips to the Boundary Waters! Loved that stuff! It's strange to think that the spray stuff in a can is the same thing...not as good, you don't get as much, and those cans are never going away in the landfills!

The garlic kind was the ULTIMATE!! The bacon kind was very good, but I yearn for the garlic one. Vampires couldn't even come in your yard, much less your house. Pungent, artificial and AWESOME cheez stuff.

My sister and I were just talking about this sqeeze cheese and realized we both probably stuck our tongues in the same tube many of times.....not to mention a couple of other siblings too....yikes! lol. You haven't lived until you got your tongue stuck in the star of the sqeeze cheese...lol.

Put it on toast and then nuked it for 30 seconds on high. In a microwave bigger than a compact fridge with a cook book and instruction book in holder bigger than that.

Actually, Kaleen and Rod, the stuff that’s called Easy Cheese always came in a can and used to be called Snack Mate. Different item

Nope Nope Nope! Easy cheese is in a can by nabisco and was in production at the same time as the Kraft star on your tongue tube cheese. I need this back!!
