I loved Smuggler candy bars! I have mentioned it often to people and they don't remember it. I started wondering if I dreamed it up (although I knew I didn't). Glad to see someone knows about it.

I used to love Smugglers. The closest things since have been the StarBar, & Nutrageous, but neither is quite the real deal. Bring back the Smuggler!!!

I think Smuggles Bar is the best - and everyone I tell this to does not remember it - even people my age have no clue. I was also beginning to think I did not remember it correctly - now I know I was right. I wish they would bring it back!

My favorite candy bar ever! I don't really remember what it tasted like, just that it tasted perfect!

One of the greatest candy bars of all time! I was hoping I might find it avaliable somewhere regionally but no such luck.

I have been looking for this most PERFECT treat for sooo long! I, too, was wondering if I had just dreamed them up since no one else remembers them. I'm so glad to know I was not loosing my mind! Why don't they bring this WONDERFUL candy bar back??? They were the best, nothing has EVER topped them.

Smuggler was the best candy bar ever. I used to eat them when I was in Junior High School. They were made by the Ralston Purina Co. Yep, the same people that make pet food. I wish I could find the Smuggler again.

Very few links when I searched them out, I don't even eat candy anymore and would eat a Smuggler's in a second.Another I wish would come back was "Breakfast Squares" and "Team Flakes" cereal,I could live on those!

Breakfast Squares! Yeah! I can still taste them. I used to eat them every morning before basketball practice when I was in junior high.

Most definitely the best candy bar ever. Look though, only 11 comments since Oct. '07. Guess that's why they don't make them anymore. :( Don't know if i'd call what was inside nougat, it was pretty chewy...like to 'bout pull out ur teeth but, man, they were good. Now, does anyone remember Space Food Sticks?

Yes, Andrew, we remember! Loved Space Food Sticks too!

Smuggler was also my fave candy bar! The closest thing that I can find is Reese's Fast Break bar or the Whatchamacallit bar

Ralston-Purina made the Smuggler bar around 1976. Found wrapper image showing a silhouette pirate ship. Ralston also made Hula Kai, a coconut in chocolate bar (resembles Mounds), simultaneously. Wrapper has Hawaiian scenery.

It was my favorite candy - I would buy a pack of 6 and eat them at one sitting. Then, suddenly they disappeared from the shelf.:(

I worked at a 7-11 in 1976 when the marketing people brought in the Smuggler bar. I remember one night eating 11 of those things one right after another the bars were SO good. That was without any pot enhancement! The Smuggler bar went away not long after that.
