Description
It was a pudding mix that came in little plastic containers( four a pack I think) you added milk then ran around the kitchen shaking them up for a minute or two. It came in a few different flavors.

My Grandma used to give it to my Brother, Sister and I. I remember the cups were like small paper drinking cups you get at fast food places and the lid was plastic. I think it came in Chocolate, Vanilla, and maybe even strawberry. I never shook mine up for the full two minutes. I liked it with little powder chunks still left in it.

I remember the Banana and Butterscotch. If you didn't shake it enough you ended up with chunks of dry powder which I liked.

when I was a kid living in Denver I Had a crush on a girl that lived in the neighborhood. Her folks were rich and she was beautiful and she and her brother were in a shake a pudding commercial back in the 70's.

I remember having it as part of my lunch in the fifth and sixth grade. Banana was my favorite flavor, well then again the chocolate was not too bad either....too bad they can bring it back but without the artificial flavor and color!

We didn't get a lot of treats as kids, so I clearly remember my mom getting this for us. SO EXCITING. We found out, though, on my brother's first shake that he didn't secure the lid on his cup. What a mess, and that was the end of that! LOL

I loved the chocolate flavor. I remember it in the late 60's. Royal is the brand name of this product. I use to see links on the product.

I was in Vietnam in 69-71, and one of my favorite items that got sent from home was Shake-a-pudding. My folks would send a boxfull and it was a rare treat for my platoon, and we eagerly awaited the next arrival.

I loved shake a pudding. I was between the ages of 4-6 when I used to eat it (that's 1966-1968). I loved the taste but I loved to play with it even more. I used to decorate the walls with it and I'd take it to the basement and try to feed it to the spiders. My mom stopped buying it because she said it had too many chemicals in it.

My Grandma worked for Standard Brands the company that made the Shake-a-pudding. She must have stole it because we ate it all the time. I remeber the cups were baby-blue and white with cartoon pictures of people shaking the pudding. She had so many cups we use to drink soda out of them. I loved the bananna. God, I wish I could have just one more with my Grandma. What great memories. Thanks

We have a lady at work who eats a salad everyday for lunch. She always shakes her dressing bottle. It instantly reminded me of shake a pudding. She is about my age (53) and doesn't remember it.

Of all the treats from childhood, this was one that I remember the most! I remember it coming in a cup and it was powder and you would shake and no matter how much you shook all the powder didn't complete mix..but that was part of the yummy for me :) I loved this!

Not milk--you added WATER. That's what made it so portable. I loved the butterscotch, and took it to school with me every day.

In the 60's, I remember the TV commercial featured some boy in a swimsuit even jumping off a diving board with it still shaking in his hands- me thinking that was fine, because all you needed was water, anyway, which meant you could travel anywhere and have this wonderful treat, so long as there was water somewhere. So, I can see why something like that was welcome in Vietnam, (and I'm guessing the VC got to have some too.)., There had to be a catch, though- one I am still paying for in the form of extra fat cells, and strange chemicals still coursing through my body. The writing on the wall came on April 16, 1967, when my sister had a birthday party and all the kids got a shaker and their own pudding, but one girl forgot to secure her shaker and Chocolate pudding got all over her nice dress- then somehow right after that we didn't eat it any more....

When I would spend the night at my Grandma's house, I would show up with all the essentials. Blanket, teddy bear, medicine and of course a goodly supply of Shake-A-Puddin'

Ahh man! Shake a pudding days! Those were the best! I gobbled it up as a kid & we sent it to my older brother in vietnam then had to end up sending it over there by the case! Since my uncle owned a grocery store in the 70s made it easy to come by ;) wish they still had it ;\

I remember Shake-A-Pudding like it was yesterday. When I was 12 (1933), i worked as a newspaper boy. After collecting my paper money I would stop a a local grocery store and buy shake-a-pudding. My mother could never figure out why I wasn't hungry for supper. Butterscotch was my favirite! A great memory!
