Description
I don't remember if it was still around in the 70's, but we used to get root beer flavored Kool Aid. It tasted kind of like root beer but without the foam.

Yes. It was actually made by Wylers. I contacted the company several years ago to see what happened to it. They no longer make it. I had scoured the shelves for it for my own son. It was the BEST! So sad it's gone....

As a kid I was lactose intolerant and this was all I wanted. If I think about it hard, I can still taste it!

FlavorAid is owned by Jel Sert. FlavorAid makes bilingual packaged Root Beer. I guess hispanics like root beer more than others. Wylers is also owned by Jel Sert, but no longer makes the root beer flavor. A link on their site takes you to mybrandsinc.com where you can purchases 72 packs for around $17 delivered. Hopefully the same taste as our childhood.

I have a root beer Kool-Aid package that was copyrighted in 1941. It is also brown, green and white and on the back it has about joining the Boy and Girl Scouts. Found it while cleaning out my Grandmothers upstairs. Any suggestions on what is worth?

Childhood Summer memories and Root beer flavored Kool Aid!! I have asked a million people if they remember it, and no one does. I grew up in Seattle and remember getting it at Safeway with other Kool Aid flavors. I remember the package being brown. SO GOOD !!

It made the best popsicles. We had that sweet mold from tupperware. When we lost the yellow tops, we would have to use sticks.

When I was a kid/teenager in the 70's our family enjoyed Wyler's root beer. I remember the packet being brown and white. It was like a Kool-Aid mix, only by Wyler's. I wonder why companies stop making products when it is so popular? My family and friends loved Wyler's root beer. I wish they would bring it back. Bring back Koogle banana flavored peanut butter too. (another 70's favorite).

I never liked this because it was like drinking flat root beer. I couldn't get used to anything soda flavored that didn't have a fizz.

Root beer Kool Aid was sold in 1955 and only 1955. It was the only flavor at my stand. Made lots of nickles.

Found one image of the 1955 Root Beer Kool Aid mix packet, with a glass of it pictured. Also found a display box from 1959, with packets, with the smiling pitcher, also Root Beer. That one, I believe, is Canadian, for a price of six cents a pack (or five for a quarter) is printed on box. Even back then, Kool Aid was an international name. Likely was more popular in Canada than here.

Zatarain's has a Root Beer Extract you can get on their website. A tablespoon and some sugar and you have Root Beer Kool-aid!

They definitely made it well after 1955. I was born in the early 60's and remember it -- my mom used to make popsicles from root beer flavored Kool-Aid and I can still taste them!

Loved root beer flavored KoolAid. We had it for two summers in our area. THE BEST was playing at the beach...and then going to the Coleman drink cooler and getting an ice cold cup of root beer drink. Great memories. Great taste! Wish they would bring it back!!! :)

Loved this stuff as a kid. Mom fix us 1 gallon each day in and old brown crock jar that we took to the farm in the summer. It had a cork in the top. My brother and I allowed each other 2 swallows at a time in order to share it's contents and we watched each other to make sure nobody cheated. It was our treat. I think they were fools for dropping it.

My mother and I did not like it when root beer Kool-Aid was discontinued, because it was our favorite flavor. We always wondered why they dropped it.
