Description
Pizza Spins might have been the Bugles Corn Crisps side kick. At least I remember that the 2 boxes were always side by side at the IGA grocery store. These were round, pizza-flavored crisps. They looked like a wheel with spokes or like a round pizza with slices cut out.

I'm not crazy! Finally validation that these really did exist! I LOVED them!

Who made these things? I loved these as a child. Can we find the owners to see if they still make the pizza spins?
C Lynn - March 06, 2008 - Report this comment
Yes, Pizza spins DID exist!! I remember them fondly! I thought they were the best snack ever when I was little. Not sure who made them. Maybe Nabisco.

I remember Pizza Spins. My Grandfather always had them at his house for me. Probably the late 60's or early 70's. I actually e-mailed the company (General Mills) about them a couple of years ago... no go on the re-make.
Rob - April 05, 2008 - Report this comment
Yes!! Validation! Few people seem to remember them, but Pizza Spins were my favorite snack to eat while watching U.F.O. and Space 1999 on my portable, red-plastic, black-n-white TV!!!!

Out of the blue the other day, I remembered Pizza Spins. Anyone know what company made them? Maybe we can bring them back. I loved 'em. I miss them... I WANT THEM!

My grandmother and I used to eat these ALL the time while watching the Flip Wilson Show and Laugh-In. They were around in the late 60s and early 70s, and then disappeared. Heard Chex Mix pizza flavor tastes just like them, but haven't tried it yet!
Biggie T - June 22, 2008 - Report this comment
O my God YES. I loved those. PLEASE...let's start a petition to bring them back!!!!
Chris Duers - July 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Wow - this is great - we used to buy them at the IGA near my grandmother's house on the cape during summer visits - not many folks seem to remember them but they were the snack food BOMB! I remember feeling totally crestfallen when finally one summer they vanished, and all there was left were some boxes of Bugles on the shelf...
WC - July 14, 2008 - Report this comment
Yes, I remember this General Mills snack very fondly! That had a great spicy Pizza flavor to them. I will send copy of all these comments to General Foods and see if we can change their minds about REintroduction. I bet 1000's remember these and would BUY them again - if they were the same taste. Please everyone - Leave more comments....

By the way, Pizza Spins came out about 1968 (taken off market - 1975). Bugles, Whistles & Dasies were all introduced together in: April 1966. Dasies were the first to bite the dust, then Whistles. Bugles, of course are still with us! >Pizza-licious PRINGLES are the closest thing currently available to Pizza Spins...

I remember Pizza Spins and would love to be able to buy them again. They were one of my favorite treats as a Kid. Wish they would come back!

I loved pizza spins but not as much as my sister. She loves them more than anybody. They were sold at our neighbor Lawson. Pizza Spins were the bestest ever snack food.
Keith - August 24, 2008 - Report this comment
I loved them !! I remember them being really tasty along with a snack called BBQ Vittles ! I always wonder why they take something off the market that people really like ?
Mary Jayne - September 04, 2008 - Report this comment
I thought I imagined pizza spins.I used to sneak the box to my room, with my purple passion soda,& eat them all!! I want more!

Man, I loved those. Haven't had them since I was a child but still miss the flavor. I can't think of a pizza snack that even comes close, or is as good (from what I remember). If General Mills were to bring them back, I hope they make them exactly the same.
gail - September 13, 2008 - Report this comment
I can't believe how many people actually remember these. The only two snacks that even come close are Bugles Nacho Flavor and Pepperidge Farms Pizza Flavored Goldfish crackers. I will definitely email General Mills to revive this awesome snack.
YooHoo - September 25, 2008 - Report this comment
I can still taste these in my mind even tho I last had them at age 9. These really left a HUGE impression. And I recall that dark green box. I have craved them thru the years since. I would buy them if they came back - I'd break my "no junk food" rule.
dave - September 28, 2008 - Report this comment
thry used to be my favorite along with the original taco flavored doritos. I used to eat them while watching love american style, lost in space and name of the game. I can't believe general mills took them off the shelf.

OK..OK..I tried a new (well, to me) cracker from Nabisco. A co-worker gave me some of her Wheat-thins Sun-dried Tomato and Basil. I flashed back to the 70's and those wonderful Pizza Spins! If you want to get a pretty close version, try these Wheat-thins!!! I told my husband about them but he wasn't sure if he remembered them or not. I grew up in central Illinois and I loved them!!! Why did they quit making them when all of us loved them so much? I remember the box and the foil lining! Try these Wheat-thins, though, until General Mills gets wise!

I use to eat a box at a time. Greatest junk food on earth.

Oh hells yeah, I remember Pizza Spins. I didn't actually remember the name, but I can picture them in my mind and I remember the taste very clearly. They were so far superior to Bugles it's not even funny. Why would they ditch those and keep Bugles? That is all kinds of wrong. The only thing I have ever had since them that came close was an Israeli snack called Bisli that comes in a pizza flavor.
Liz - January 14, 2009 - Report this comment
They were yummy!! Wish I could have some now.

I can't believe I found you guys! Pizza Spins were my FAVORITE and I do remember them next to Bugles in the Red Owl grocery store here in St. Paul, MN. Were they shaped like an old west wagon wheel with spokes? I'm 46, miss them and want them back! Hey, anyone remember the cereal Ka-Boom, shaped like clown faces?
Cari - January 23, 2009 - Report this comment
I loved Pizza Spins and would buy them in bulk if they came back. I also grew up in Minnesota and remember them in the Red Owl.
Susan - February 01, 2009 - Report this comment
Count me in! I think about them often. I'm 45 and grew up in North Dakota. Forgot about the Red Owl but have been unable to forget pizza spins. The Pizzalicious Pringles are the closest thing I've found but I will definitely try the other recommendations. I will start a group on facebook if I can figure out how.

Another snack that reminds me of pizza spins called Clancy's Nacho Rings. Unlike Bissli, which is expensive to get here in the US, Nacho Rings are available at the low-price store Aldi for slightly more than $1 for a 7 ounce bag. They are corn-based, a little more "airy" than Pizza Spins. The nacho flavor is tastes more like pizza spins than nacho, in my opinion. I just imagine I'm eating Pizza Spins when I have them.

I grew up in central Pa. and we used to eat these things by the box. I still crave these from time to time. Who was the genious that decided to quit making these? One of the best snacks ever!!

Wow!!! great to hear so many others remember the good stuff from the 70's. I had a flashback this morning at work with a craving, but could not remember the name of the snack. thanks for the wonderful memories you all.

My sister and I used to go to Grandma's for the weekend..every Saturday she's make a Chef Boyardee pizza, and serve it with Pizza Spins & Chocolate milk on TV trays for supper, and we'd watch Lost In Space. The best of times ever.

I grew up in White Bear Lake MN, and you all are my long lost brothers and sisters! I LOVED this snack, and would go with my father to the local Red Owl or Applebaum's grocery stores on Saturday mornings. I would eat the whole box watching cartoons and finish it off before noon. They were so good my kids can taste them when I talk about it.
Andrew - April 17, 2009 - Report this comment
We used to get this snack every now and then. They were my hands down favorite. If you're looking for a similar taste, I just discovered the Fisher Pizza Balls (Real Cheese Flavor) is fairly reminiscent.

I loved Pizza Spins too! I wrote to General Mills a few years back about making them again and they said no. I used to eat a whole box on Friday nights while watching "Fantasmic Features" here in the Boston area. I wash it back with some Orange Crush. They were the best and always will be. I am 55 and can still taste them. Bring them back and no one will get hurt - haha!

Just today I was telling my daughter about how much I loved pizza spins as a kid. She, of course had no idea what I was talking about. She is only 24 and I read on here they were discontinued 34 years ago. Now I feel really old! I also would love to see Pizza spins come back. They were so darned good !!!! I have a brother that works at General Mills. I'll see if he can put a good word in for us old timers that love Pizza Spins !!!! LOL

I was beginning to think NO one would remember Pizza Spins. I had the name wrong, calling them Pizza Wheels. But I TOTALLY remember Bugels being right by them on the shelf. LOVED those things.
David - August 02, 2009 - Report this comment
Pizza Spins were definitely a great snack and the best of that particular line of snacks from that era. They were also available and popular in the South. Hey, in this economy, if General Mills wants to be cocky and not respond to obvious interest, let them go for it! Maybe the recession hasn't reached them.

No one believes me that these did indeed exist. The 4 boxes were green for Pizza Spins, blue for Whistles, yellow for Daisies, and of course red for Bugles. I loved 'em all. However in this day and age of money money money they will never bring them back. General Mills unfortunately is probably run by someone too young to care about these real pieces of American history and nostalgia.

Yes! I remember these Pizza Spins. My cousins always had them (along with Bugles) at their house but my Mom never bought them. The Pepperidge Farm Pepperoni flavored Gold Fish taste similar. BTW, does anyone remember Chipos?

Pizza spins were the best snack ever made. I think if general mills wants to make some money they will bring them back.I think people should start a protest.
