semi hard candy, about the size of a large BB. Came in cool cloth bags with a string tie. Great stuff

Cherry Its were the best! Wish I could find them again.
I loved them!--there was also a straw in the bag so you could try to suck them from the bag. Depending on how the sugar stuck together it wouldn't always work. There was also a candy-coated bubble gum gold nuggets from the same company in the canvas bag package. I don't remember who made them and so far these are the one retro candy I haven't been able to find.
I have been looking everywhere for Cherry its. Do they still make them?
I was just on another blog about Gold Rush Gum which is widely available and I'd mentioned how I'd never seen Cherry or Orange ITS anywhere online. What a surprise when I found this site!
I know we often remember candy from our childhoods and think how wonderful it would be to have that flavor experience again. Sometimes it's great, but sometimes it's CANDY ICE CREAM CONES which reeeeeeeeeeeally suck. I remembered them as being so good, but boy was I wrong!
I don't think I could be that far off on the ITS though, could I?
