Cherry Its were the best! Wish I could find them again.

I loved them!--there was also a straw in the bag so you could try to suck them from the bag. Depending on how the sugar stuck together it wouldn't always work. There was also a candy-coated bubble gum gold nuggets from the same company in the canvas bag package. I don't remember who made them and so far these are the one retro candy I haven't been able to find.

I have been looking everywhere for Cherry its. Do they still make them?

I was just on another blog about Gold Rush Gum which is widely available and I'd mentioned how I'd never seen Cherry or Orange ITS anywhere online. What a surprise when I found this site! I know we often remember candy from our childhoods and think how wonderful it would be to have that flavor experience again. Sometimes it's great, but sometimes it's CANDY ICE CREAM CONES which reeeeeeeeeeeally suck. I remembered them as being so good, but boy was I wrong! I don't think I could be that far off on the ITS though, could I?

No, you're right on! We used to get them at Church camp every Summer. I looked forward to that so much. Anyone know where to get them?

Was recounting Orange-ITS to a friend of mine, but couldn't remember the name till I stumbled upon it while doing a search for Beech Nut's Fruit Stripe gum. Man, I LOVED Orange-ITS!

Man, I've fantasized about finding some Cherry-Its for years and years...I'm guessing they're no longer made. Anyone remember the name of the company that produced them?

OMG! CHERRY ITS!!.. I've been looking for them for Years, and couldn't find anybody except my brother who'd even heard of 'em! If it wasn't for that, I'd have thought I was crazy n made the whole thing up, lol. We used to get them every Tuesday at The Nut House candy store, before going to "after-school" activities at Johnson's Boys Club in Los Angeles. Sure wish I could find them again,(I'd buy a case!), but I'm betting with the little straw and the tiny candies inside the bag, the company lawyers likely nix'd them because of the "possible choking hazard" (real or imagined), or "you could lose an eye!".. Anybody who can find 'em Please let us know!!!

Cherry ITS was one of my fave candies back in the day. My friends and I used to stop at Shields Book Store and get our favorite flavor (Cherry, Orange or Grape) for the walk home when I was in 6th grade. I have been trying to find out what company made them. According to what I can find, they are discontinued, but nobody seems to have information about the manufacturer. It seems everyone remembers them fondly. I can't find any info on how long they have been discontinued or who made them.

I used to sneak Cherry-its into class and eat them. The handy drawstring bag made it so easy. I'd love to have some again.

I have been looking for them for years with no luck. I keep thinking if we keep asking for them, maybe someone will get the formula and make them again. Nothing today tastes like them at all! The way the melted in your mouth.

Used to get Cherry Its and Orange Its at the old general store when visiting my grandparents. They were great. I loved the orange and my sister the cherry. I don't remember a straw coming with them either. Wish I could get my hands on a couple of bags to reminisce with my sister.

OMG!! I got these from the gas station vending machine across from our bus stop, all the time! Loved them Orange and Cherry! They did have a straw, I remember thinking I was being sneaky in class by hiding the bag in my hand and sucking the "Its" through the straw. Teacher caught me! Apparently not so sneaky.

They were taken off the market in the late sixties when a child sucked them up with the straw and choked. Not sure if s/he died but was enough to scare them off the market. Too bad they were my favorite too.

I had seen Cherry-Its and Orange-Its as late as the 1980s. I never saw Grape-Its and never saw a straw included in them.

My dad had a small grocery store in the 50s and 60s and I LOVED Orange Its and Cherry Its. Other commentors are correct - they came with a short white straw so you could suck them up out of the bag if you wanted to. Wish they still made them!

I loved those candies and would love to eat them again. I don't remember ever seeing the bag with a straw, but I do still have a few of the bags; I kept coins in them as a child. I remember Nuggets of Gold made by the same company - jagged little yellow bits that were gum. I didn't try them since I had a fondness for Cherry Its and Orange Its, a perfect mix of sweet with a bit of tart. And the texture was awesome, a bit of a coating on the outside and a bit more powdery on the inside. YUM.

I'm so glad I am not the only person thinking about Cherry Its, Orange Its and Gold Rush Gum. I wish they would bring them back. Can't even tell you made/manufactured them. Guess I was too young to care about that, just knew they tasted really, really good.

We used to get them in the late 60s at an old general store in Abiline, Texas called Jacksons. They came with a wide short straw and then without the straw. Gold Nuggets gum was fantastic flavored. I wish someone would make the candies again. There was also a special red hots in movie palaces that they don't make. It was chewier than Ferrara Pan, who has just come out with new chewy red hots. Maybe they found that recipe.

I have told a million people about the cherry it;s and orange it's over the years I used to get them every day during Jr. High School and nobody seems to remember them They did have a fat short straw in the bag and then there was Gold rush Gum yellow chunks with a very faint drizzle of red on them I liked all of them but mostly orange and cherry it's then just like Big Cherry and Cherry Mash they just werent there any more. sad thnang I would still buy them every day if I could
