Description
These were round candies made by Willy Wonka that were half chocolate and half peanut butter in a hard candy shell. Way better than M&M's.

These were SO GOOD and they were larger than an M&M. I would eat a package of these right now if they were available.

There is a similar M&M product out now--not quite as good, but almost.

I loved these candies as a kid. I have been searching the wonderful WWW for them can't find any. I wish they would bring them back. I would sure buy them. They were better than M&M's. They were so big. One bite choc. and one bite P.B. Man I want some!! Just thinking about them makes my mouth water!!!!

My dad used to buy these for me and we'd share them. They were so awesome! I am glad they actually existed and weren't just some random wishful happy memory from my childhood!

The best candy ever - I wish I had a bag of them right now. I would eat every last one of them and savor the flavor of each one I popped into my mouth. I can't image why they stopped making them. Please bring them back!!!!!

One of my favorites as a kid, told my own children about them, way better than m and m's, and so much better than the wonka candy of today

***I am LOOKING TO BUY vintage 1970s OOMPAS candy wrappers for my 1970s candy wrapper collection. There were 3 different styles of wrapper, I want them all. If you have any, PLEASE contact me, as I will pay you GOOD MONEY for these!

I'm so glad that everyone else remembers them too! I've looked around on the net and can't find them anywhere. Weren't the wrappers purple? Sure do miss them! Companies always quit making the good things.

I remember them as Giant Reeses Pieces. About 5 came in a topless cardboard sleeve wrapped in cellophane like Chuckles or Goetze's Caramel Creams. I don't remember the chocolate at all. Am I misremembering or was there something else like that before Pieces?

Exactly! "I was almost convinced that I had hallucinated these as a kid!" That is too funny cause I feel the same way.

Every time I eat peanut butter M&Ms I wish for those Oompas from the past. They were better. I was so excited when I saw Oompas on the shelf a few years ago! What a cruel trick: they were fruit flavored! Eew! Bring back the original. Please!

Feeble words cannot convey how simply perfect Oompas were. A delicately crunchy shell, surrounding a soft layer of peanut butter salty peanut butter, playing off a firmer layer of sweet chocolate. My mouth is seriously watering thinking about those perfect little pods of flavor.

I miss Oompas too, try to explain how good they were to my children who are now themselves in their mid twenty's. Wish they would bring them back then they could see how good they are too.

I wrote the candy company last year and asked if they thought they would ever come back and they said at this time "NO". It was a candy that was cancelled because it was not as popular as some. What a shame, these were my favorite!!

My ex-husband and I used to manage a drive-in theater and we carried the oompa loompas in our concession stand. OMG! I must have gained 30 pounds on those things! They were so amazing! I'm a peanut butter M&M ho now, but would sure love to get my hands on some good old fashioned Oompa Loompas! The tasted similar but were twice as big as the M&Ms and were 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 peanut butter, split down the middle, and covered in a candy shell. They were the best! Why did Wonka discontinue them? I know we had problems with little worms getting into them if they got too hot in the storage room. Maybe that is why? Don't know, but I miss the heck out of them. (The candy, not the worms.) Bring them back Wonka!!!!!!
