please don't forget two things. The slight smear of apricot? jelly on one side in the inside, and that the cookies were not crispy, but soft and somewhat cakey.
Mike T - January 01, 2010 - Report this comment
These were the BEST cookies ever! If enough people write Nabisco, they may think twice about producing them again! By the way, FDNY343 is right on the money with his description!

I agree. The Marshmallow Sandwich Cookies were simple and GREAT. I've been looking on the internet for years with just a few sites with these stories. I think a larger input to Nabisco would probably be needed. Someone has to organize the Baby Boomers to get it going to bring them back.

WOW! this takes me back, I loved those cookies and what was even more special is that as a child born in 1981 I used to leave these cookies out for Santa every xmas until they stop making them. I remember they came in a brown box with blue wrapper on the outside. Memories:)

We loved these cookies in my house growing up!..they were one of the more expensive cookies at the time and not alot came in the package in comparison to the other cookies at the time...so i'm wondering if that is why they discontinued them?...My mom is in the hospital and we were just talking about these cookies..i've been searching the web with hopes of finding them!...someone said they are back, but under a different name..would love to find them and surprise my mom with a box!!!!

My friends and I were talking about these cookies today!!!! I was the only one who remembered the little "smear" of apricot. What were they called????? I am going crazy trying to remember!

Please bring back these marshmallow cookies. In the meantime, I take a marshmallow and place it in between two graham crackers. It's almost as good. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

As my daughter says, OMG! I've been trying to figure out for years what those cookies were called and if I could still get them! I LOVED those cookies. My best memories of these cookies was visiting my grandparents in Yonkers (near the Cross County Shopping Center) and sitting in a little kitchen nook with my cousin. He would eat one box and I would eat the other!! Our siblings hadn't a chance! Oh I wish Nabisco would bring them back. Make a petition...I'd sign!!
Ides from Manhattan - November 06, 2010 - Report this comment
Nabisco, please bring back your delicious marshmallow sandwich cookies. I used to eat 2 boxes a day in the 1970's. They were the best. Until today I cannot stop thinking about them and how wonderful they taste.

The marshallow cookie from the 70's was my ultimate favorite cookie. The smear of apricot made it so delicious . I loved the texture of the cookie i remember it was a small cookie vanilla wafer with marshallow stuffed between them. In a box with blue wrapper and inside a wax paper. Please bring these back still to this day I look on the shelves hoping they brought them back. The cookies were carefully lined upright in the box

I've been looking for years. It wasn't marshmallow. It was a soft cookie sandwich (the outside cookie looked like social tea cookies but were soft) with jelly marmalade inside and chocolate sprinkles on the outside of the jelly in between the soft cookies. It wasn't made by Nabisco, but rather by a small, local chocolate company. The son of the owner of the company moved the chocolate company to Pennsylvania and sold the company to Barton's or some other chocoloate company. Last time they were sold was on the Lower East Side at the Economy Candy store and there was a more commercialized version that was completely covered in chocolate that sold in supermarkets in NYC. If you go way back in time, they used to sell them in individually wrapped celophane packages in luncheonettes in NYC, and there was a time when a cheaper version of the cookied was sold in Waldbaum's in the 70's. No one is interested in making the cookie because it's time consuming and requires manual labor. Maybe if more people wrote about the cookie, someone out there would be interested in making it again.

It took 4 of us to remember the name of these great cookies! It took a week, but we finally got it. I remember walking to Catholic school with my mother and always stoped in this little store on the way to get a "sleeve" of these in the blue wrapper. We lived in Queens, NY. I would give anything for a double box of these great cookies.....NABISCO!

I can't believe the inaccuracies about Nabisco marshmallow sandwiches. READ WHAT I HAVE TO WRITE: I lived in the Bronx until 1990 and remember buying them in a Finefare supermarket on the Grand Concourse in 1989 at the latest, and I believe quite possibly, although I'm not 100% sure, in early 1990 as well. The cookie part was NOT a vanilla wafer. It was simply a soft medium brown colored cookie, with rounded edges. There was also a very thin layer of sweet brown filling between the soft cookie and the marshmallow; a filling darker in color than the cookie itself, and which no doubt served as an adhesive. Whether it was between both cookies or only one, I don't recall, and I don't know how anyone can say with certainty that it was apricot. Was anyone able to taste it independently of the marshmallow and cookie !!!! And of course there were about 10 in a cardboard box, within wax paper; two boxes together with the outer illustrated product wrapping around them. They were one of my favorite cookies, too. Keep checking back because I have found a very close substitute for the marshmallow sandwiches that will please lovers of the original. Till next time......

I remember these cookies all to well. They were my mom's favorite and growing up poor in the Bronx in the 60's these cookies were not purchased too often. However quantities were limited .I remember the blue wrapper and 2 single layered boxes with about 10 cookies in each box. I would love to find them again but I know it is highly impossible

Ten cookies in each double packed offering. They went fast and the stores couldn't stock them fast enough. They were like the Vanilla wafers but softer. The best is when you got them fresh. Even two or three days old, they were still great. But rarely, once the bow was open, did they survive for the next day. Hell, they never made it next five minutes. Come on "Boomers" send your requests to NABISCO: "Bring back the our cookie!!"

I have just read all the comments and stories about the Nabisco Sandwich Cookies all us Baby Boomers loved as kids. My wife and I are in our sixties and are always talking about these cookies. One day my wife, who is an excellent baker, decided to recreate this cookie at home. Boy, have a got a surprise for you = she did it!. To the best of my memory, the cookie she made tastes exactly like the original. My question is how many people would be willing to pay for her recipe and how much?

You all are thinking about the Salerno Hippodrome cookies that had soft graham cracker-like outsides that had corrugated lines on each side with a red jelly line inside with marshmallow. They were rectangle in shape and if I was allowed to be alone with a box of them I would eat THE WHOLE THING... LOL
