Description
I remember the others mentioned, but we always had these on weekend mornings. They are sort of like the mini doughnuts you get at the fair but way better! We used to get the glazed ones too but they had a kind of funky taste to the glaze!

I loved these as a kid. They'd bake in about 3 minutes, and if you let them sit out for a couple of minutes they'd "crisp up".

These were the best. Remember how they were a little crunchy on the bottom where the sugar would get hard? Sooooo good. I really miss those little sweets.

I have been craving these for years! Nothing I try to cook comes close! Please bring these back!

Why, why, why did Morton stop baking these??? They were so delicious and I remember sitting at the table with my mouth watering waiting for my mom to take them out of the oven so I could eat them before going to school! Makes my mouth water just thinking about them now!

OMG!!! I can taste them right now!!!! They were so perfect. Why would they stop making these donuts?? They still make the morton honey bun which I could care less about. Nothing compares to the warm crispy sugary exterior which collapses into the best warm donut ever!!!! We should start a petition!!

I wish they would make these again. I remember how sweet and sugary they were and just the teeny weeniest bit greasy (in the best way)! Please make them again!!!!!

They were great! Can't understand why they stopped making them. The closest I've come to finding a comparable product comes from Schwann's. They have sugar and spice mini donuts. They are good and bring back memories!

OMG! My brother and I used to eat these on Saturday mornings while we watched cartoons. I would pay a lot to have these again. Does anyone know how to contact the company??

I loved these! O'Charley's restaurant chain offers fresh baked little doughnuts for dessert that remind me of the Morton's. It is the closest thing I have found. I wish someone would bring them back.

My brother and sister loved these when we were little! We would have the little donuts or honeybuns for breakfast. I grew up in Medford Lakes, NJ and have very fond memories. Those Morton products were a big part of those memories.

I had a doughnut from a Publix yesterday that tasted like them. Reminded me so much that I looked online to see if I could find a place to buy them and found this...

They need to get them back! I agree with Kyle that O'Charleys has the closest I've found. I had the waitress ask the cook who supplied them and he gave it to me! Problem I'd, I lost it before I could do anything.

I just went down memory lane - wanted to find them and found this site. It used to be the biggest treat when my father would bring a box of them home for the weekend, then one day they were off the shelves :( I wish they would come back.

Who can we beg to put those little jewels back in circulation???!!!
Lucinda - August 07, 2013 - Report this comment
These are my fave food memory from childhood. They were crispy at on the bottom, and the sugar wasn't as big as "regular" sugar- just perfect. So happy others remember!

There were four of us and we had to share, that is unless my brother licked them all first. lol I loved to bake them so the bottoms caramelized a little and eat them hot. My sisters did, too. However my brother liked to eat them cold. We would eat this on Saturday mornings while watching cartoons. YUM!! Too bad Morton was sold or bought out back in the 70's.

I loved the sugar and spice ones. Bob Evans has a pumpkin cake donut with cinnamon and sugar covering that are remarkably like the Mortons. Give them a try.

I found some that were EXACTLY like them, @ Starbucks on Hanes Mall Blvd. in Winston-Salem, NC.. So much so, that I ordered a case of them from the place they bought from, called Maria's Bakery in Waltham, MA.. But I tried to find that bakery again last week, since we moved to FL.. And now they are gone.>?!?!?!

I have thought about these over the years and looked for them on my occasional visit to the grocery store. So today I searched the web in the hopes that they still exist. This new search was sparked by a recent purchase I made at an Amish Farmers Market in PA. They are Apple Cider donuts covered with the same sugar and spice mix that my taste buds remember. They are full sizes donuts, so I slice them in half like a bagel and heat them in the microwave for a few seconds. They are awesome. I suspect, however, they are seasonal. So for now, I will enjoy!!

I so miss these!!!! I remember I only got them on special occasions. They were sold in the frozen section and came in a box of 12 or 13 if you were really lucky! I've been looking for these forever and haven't been able to find anything that comes even close. I wish they'd bring them back, I'd buy them by the case.

So funny that others are just as obsessed as I am! Oh, how I remember these donuts, which my mom ALWAYS had in our freezer, along with honey buns!! I search the frozen food aisle every time I go to a new grocery store! And guess what I found last night at TARGET? (one with a full grocery department.) They are microwave mini donuts (in the frozen department) and you sprinkle cinnamon sugar on them when warm. My kids thought I was crazy, but just the smell of them out of the microwave, and I was like, "that's the smell I remember!!" They tasted pretty good, although nothing compares to the original Morton's donuts. For now, these will be a nice blast from the past!!

These were a staple when i was growing up - I missed them alot once I grew up, but I found that Schwans have them now, or atleast pretty darn close to it! When I first got them, they made me think I was a kid again on a saturday morning!

In 1977 Weston, WV, snow was so bad we missed several weeks of school We stayed with my older sister and her husband and they bought these donuts many times for breakfast! sure brings back the memories. Morton foods may be a good investment for some one to try and bring back, and find the recipes...

Checkout Schwan's web site store. They have donuts that taste just like I remember these from Morton's.

Schwann's are very close. I bake them a little longer to get the crisp bottom.

This was like a trip down memory lane. It was good to hear that others feel the way I do about these tasty little tidbits. I was with my son's family at a farmer's market and there was a booth serving these. He looked at me and said these are like the ones you used to buy, Mom. I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only mom giving her kids sugar on Saturday morning during cartoons. I wish we could get them again.

The only time I ever had these was at spend-the-night parties at a friend's house. I LOVED them! I recently found a donut that took me right back to those days - Duck Donuts! They make vanilla cake donuts fresh as you order them, and you can top them in a multitude of ways. But it was the one simply coated with cinnamon sugar, still quite warm from the fryer, that hit me in the heart with the taste from my childhood!

Ive been dreaming & craving these doughnuts since they quit makes ng them so many years ago!So, I decided to google what happened to them & found this link.. Why, when so many other ppl desire these doughnuts just like me , why would they quit making them??!! Ive tried many times to make them but never come close.. Yrs , let's petition to the old company to at least sell the recipe & get another company to make them!! There's nothing like that crispy ,sugary, cinnamon outer & hot soft inside ! Omg I'd give anything to get some again! And,bring back those old memories too!

I'm with everyone who's left a comment. These were awesome. Literally just melted in your mouth. My whole family loved them, and we were crushed when they no longer made them. I'm 86, and I haven't got forever to wait around for Morton to decide to make them again.

We were leaving the Air Force base in Japan in 1973 and young Japanese men were packing our household goods. The same men returned the second day to load the packed items for shipping to the U.S. The men told us they asked to return to our house because they wanted more Morton’s mini donuts! Luckily I had gotten more for them at the BX. I can’t believe they stopped making them! I can still taste them too.
