I remember Molly-o as being one of the best chocolate bars I ever ate. Why did they stop making them? There was another candy bar called YUM it too was very good and also disappeared. Why do all the good ones go away?

My father was a salesman for McCormick's in the late 50s when we lived in Moncton, NB. The Molly-O bar was the best chocolate bar I ever ate and my brother, sister and I used to eat them all the time from dad's samples. It was similar to an O-Henry bar except the inner nougat was very rich and extremely chewy, much better than the O-Henry and other bars of this type. Some years later they downgraded the Molly-O to the O-Henry level and then discontinued it altogether.

The Molly-O bar that I remember had coconut mixed in the caramel . That's what made it so delicious!!

I loved the Molly-O. Have tried to track down the producers of it but was unsuccessful, would really love to see it back on the market but would even be grateful to find out what the recipe was.

I've been to a couple of "candy stores" in Canada and was hoping to find a Molly-O. It was my all time Fav. The Coco-nut and Caramel was the best combo ever

The Molly O Bar I remember was with Cocoanut and Caramel too and it was DELICIOUS and the Bar Six was definately one of my all time favorites. We lived near a small country store. Every day after school I went and bought a Pepsi and a Molly O or Bar Six. One time my parents let me order a whole box of Bar Sixes !! It was Awesome !! I wish they would bring them back .. cant imagine why they would have stopped making something so popular !

Bar Six had to be slightly out of date and too warm,,,thats how I remember them when my dad would take me to the local flying club on a sunday. Why is it I remember that hot sticky bar above anything else !!

An ex school time friend and I tried for several years to find a MollyO wrapper. We had an advantage, living in London where the bars were made. We visited the factory several times, looked thru their old advertising and literature. No luck. It was yellow and green and had a shamrock on it.

Molly O's were my father's favourite bar. He grew up in a general store south of Fredericton and had the pick of the counter I guess, but this was his favourite. Of course, it also became mine. When we made our annual trek to my grandparents in the 60's and 70's, this was the treat that I remember the best. My father turned 98 last week and I wonder when they first arrived for sale in general stores 'down east'? It was definitely the combo of caramel and coconut that made the memory (along with the stories of old!)...

I want to add my opinion about the Bar Six chocolate bar. I really liked it a lot and I even remember the commercial on tv back in the 70s. I wish it hadn't been discontinued. I wish Cadbury would remake it and resell it again. I loved the hazelnut taste so much better than the kit kat bar. I don't see why both can't be on the market!

If I recall the commercial correctly (and I almost certainly do not) the jingle the dancers sang in the TV spot went something like: "Snack Bar, Snack Bar, super times five, Making me really come alive. Snack on a Snack Bar, your tastebuds will thrive, Snack Bar, Snack Bar, super times five!"

Five Star Bar is a bar that I still crave and CANNOT find a picture of, online anywhere. If anyone has a picture of that Yellow-Brown wrapper, PLEASE post it onlne. I argue with people about this bar from the late 60's, and they say there was No such thing. Need your help in Prince Edward Island now!

we just watched an episode of Land and Sea in which it was all about old things back in the 50's. After the program I remembered the bar Molly-O which was my favourite bar and there is nothing today that tasted better than Molly-O. Too bad they discontinued it.

Molly o's were the best! Also O Henry's. Must have been a Canada thing? I grew up in Manitoba and wrecked my teeth on those taste buggers.

my Mom introduced me to the Molly-O. It was her favourite and grew instantly to be mine. Half frozen you could chew the chocolate and coconut off the caramel centre. Then bite off the creamy caramel to mix with your mix of chocolate and coconut. I have not found a recipe to exact its replica but would try it if found by someone else?

My Dad worked in Marketing for McCormick's in London, Ontario before joining the Canadian Army during WWII. Molly O was his favourite chocolate bar and it became mine as well. Interestingly, my wife remembers it well from her childhood and teens. I think Neilsen's bought McCormick's chocolate business and Molly O disappeared in the early 80s. The closest taste we've found to a Molly O is a Newfie square.

I have often wondered why the Molly-o is no longer available. I was raised in a small fishing village on the west coast of Vancouver Island. With many children, my Mother used to slice the Molly-o so we all got a piece of the Carmel center. It was an amazing bar - I wonder why they stopped producing it?

I have the best Molly-O story! My great-aunt worked at McCormick's in London until she retired in the 1950s. She used to bring us home the "rejects" from the production line -- the ones that somehow turned out just toooo mouth-wateringly big and round. ;) Yup, Molly-Os were the all-time best. And for those not familiar with McCormick's: the factory built in London in 1914, when I think my great-aunt began working there, was a model of modern hygienic production methods and also of good labour practices. I would like to post links, but I can't, so do a search for *mccormicks factory london dundas* and you will see the London Public Library web page and information about redevelopment from city counsellor Jesse Helmer. Go to Images, and you will see a picture of the employee cafeteria. At google maps, see 1156 Dundas for the current very sad state of the property. Confectionary runs in my family -- Johnny Chapman of Chapman's bakery on Dundas St in east London was also a cousin. :)
