Description
Jujubes were extremely hard little candies. About the size of a pencil eraser, they were multicolored and nearly transparent. They were so hard that they took a very long time to dissolve and were nearly impossible to chew. I once stuffed five boxes worth of them in my mouth during a high school lunch break (on a dare), and then had to go to Algebra class. I was in absolute fear that I would be asked a question with a tennis ball sized clump of slowly melting candy in my mouth. One other observation is that I always thought that they would work well and look pretty as covers for tiny Christmas tree lights. I believe that Jujubes are still made, but they are difficult to find in local stores on a regular basis. Perhaps I will get a craving and order some from an online "old candy seller."

We'd throw them at people at the movie theater and drop them into the deep end at the community pool. Some of them (the purple and orange ones) tasted like perfume or shampoo. They were really dangerous to dental work! Another product that kept 70s dentists hoppin'

I saw a kid eat them once. I want them.

Lea, you're absolutely right. Some of them did taste kind of soapy and oddly that's what I liked about them. I think Dollar Tree stores carry them now.
