It's actually called Koogle Peanut Spread....it came in a bunch of flavors that I am only now finding out about, cause I lived for the chocolate. To this day, I can still taste it just thinking about it!!!

It was koogle in Canada and northern states. It was google in the southern states and was made by Kraft in 1974. I still have a faded lid from a jar.
Syn - January 09, 2009 - Report this comment
It was Google Peanut Butter in Oregon too, never heard of Koogle and the commercial was "with the goo goo googly eyes".

I have told my kids about this Google Peanut butter for years. We ate it when we were kids. Do they still make it? They need to , they tried to do chocolate a while ago (not named Google) I think Jiff tried and they took it off the market. :(

I remember Google Peanut Butter and I loved it! I remember the dancing jar. I remember they said you could put it on anything and it would taste better. Especially carrots and celery!

it waass GOOGLE and it is a time capsule of a time when kids enjoyed saturday cartoons and afterschool specials and could go trick or treatin without the fear of being abducted and santa and the easter bunny were still household names and it was still ok to pray and discuss jesus anywhere!! especially school!!

Yep, in Chicago it was Google. My sisters & I (& Dad, too) LOVED that stuff. In helping the grandparents clean out their motor home before selling it in the 80's, we found an old jar of Google. We were so excited. Did we throw it out because it was years old? NO! We ate it, and slowly, too, savoring every bite!

I too remember Google peanut butter from the 70's when I was a kid. I sure wish they would bring that brand back. I can almost taste it now just thinking about it. I belive it would be a very hot seller today. It sure makes me happy that others remember and miss it too. p.s. I also miss PDQ drink mix.

I've been telling younger people about the Google peanut butter and yes, they look at me with disbelief. Now I'm reduced to Googling about Google peanut butter but still cannot find a single image of it! But yes, I definitely have a mental image of the singing jars....and it was good!
Kay - March 25, 2010 - Report this comment
Monica that is because it is Koogle. I know people are saying it was Google but all the pics show it to be Koogle. I know I first thought it was Google too but have not found anything showing the name differed in the USA.
Nancy - March 28, 2010 - Report this comment
In Wisconsin it was Google. Every time I walk by the peanut butter section at the grocery store, I stop to take a look, wondering if somehow it made its way back! If I'm with a friend, I'll ask if they remember it. They never do! They always point to the Goober jar, which is peanut butter and grape jelly. I miss Google. Sooooo good.
Dale - April 12, 2010 - Report this comment
It was Google here in South Carolina, as well. May have been something else other places, but down here, we "Googled" waaaaay before the internet!
Drew - May 14, 2010 - Report this comment
I worked on this product for 5 years with Kraft foods in the PBS&D division. The name was always Koogle. Google is just an urban legend. We started with 12 flavors but only produced 8 and only 5 of them were very popularThe other three only went to test zones. We didn't get enough volume to produce them on dedicated lines so we went to flex lines. The flex lines were not as flexible as we needed due to some of the ingredients used. So the cost to produce plus declining volume led to the demise of Koogle. The flavors that never got produced were bubble gum, wild cherry, peach and Licorish.

The original poster should worry less about 70s food and more about sentence structure and spelling. Six obvious mistakes in that run-on sentence. Exspecially???

GOOGLE yes Google has always been etched in my memory forever I will always remember especialy the googly eye's stickers that were inside the lid . Flavors I can recall the most were banana chocolate and cinnamon. in Delaware it was Google.
Becca - April 06, 2011 - Report this comment
It was Koogle, everywhere. Anyone can Google to comfirm it's Koogle and even see an old commercial on youtube! :)I loved that stuff, a jar of the chocolate didn't stand a chance around me. I would so love a jar of the stuff along with the metabolism I had in the 70's.

I grew up in Tennessee in the 1970's. The brand we bought was called Koogle. I never heard of Google until the search engine. Y'all are just confused.
Cass - June 17, 2011 - Report this comment
There must have been two different brands. So if Koogle was made by Kraft, who made Google Peanut Butter? I lived on Google Peanut Butter in Northern Ohio. The brand was in a smaller jar with Google Eyes on the label. We bought many different flavors. You did not need to mix the peanut butter to taste the flavor, like the jelly in the jars one must mix today.

OMG, I have been talking to my kids about this peanut butter. It was Google in Pennsylvania. The song was Google with the goo goo googley eyes. It was the dancing peanut butter jar. I loved the cinnamon and banana flavors. It was always advertised in Pittsburgh as commercials when the childrens after school special programs were on TV. I wish they would bring this back for old time sake!

I've asked people my age if they remember Google peanut butter from the early 70's and none of them do. I am glad to see I'm not crazy. It wasn't around that long but I remember the chocolate was delicious. It was definitely Google, not Koogle, in Minnesota.

I remember this peanut butter well. I remember the catchy jingle from the commercial (Here comes Koogle with the great big googly eyes...). Perhaps that why we remember it as Google? Anyway, I also remember how bad it tasted;like Chocolate-flavored plastic.

Wow, just for the heck of it I thought I would "google" this. I remember eating the chocolate all the time, but when I mention it to people I get the strange looks too and they say "oh you mean the peanut butter and jelly in a jar!" and I say no it really was chocolate peanut butter!! I did just find out that Jiff now has a chocolate peanut butter but it is only in a 4 pack of single servings. nice to have it back.
Tammy - August 15, 2012 - Report this comment
Ok I found at Walmart the closest thing to Koogle's chocolate peanut butter, it is "Jiff to Go". There are 8 small to go packs. it is called "chocolate silk" i brought it to work and let everyone have a taste. I told them this is what i remember best from my childhood

it was definitely called 'GOOGLE' peanut butter when sold in WV in the 70's. Google, with the goo goo googly eyes - I will always remember that. I had a classmate who could kind of roll his eyes around like the eyes in the commercial & his nickname became Google. BTW, found a pic in our grade school yearbook of my friend & his jar of 'Google'.

I love the comments that those of who remember Google are mistaken and confused that it was Koogle. I have never been a part of any mass hallucination before. I am not mistaken nor am I confused, ok i'm confused but not about this. It was Google and I loved the banana flavor. :)
David - January 31, 2014 - Report this comment
I was in New Jersey. It was NOT called Koogle -- which many Jews will tell you is actually the name of another food, kugel. It was called GOOGLE. Really. And the jingle was to the tune of an old song called Barney Google. ("With the Goo-goo-googly eyes.") But nobody has pics?

Mom worked at Smith's Food King in the 70's and brought home GOOGLE in Idaho. We loved it. My wife says she remembers both brands having lived in Nevada, Calif. Ore. & Idaho. I remember the commercials too. It was Google in Idaho, not Koogle.

It was NEVER GOOGLE ANYWHERE!!! Holy cow people a poster who WORKED ON THE PROJECT AT KRAFT has verified it was never Google not anywhere. If you are so sure PROVE IT. Why doesnt Renee post this elusive year book picture? Because she is wrong that is why. NEVER NEVER GOOGLE. Not one picture not one commercial not one shred of eveidence anywhere that it was ever called Google. If it is true produce a picture or commercial or any shred of credible evidence that amounts to more than a bunch of morons saying "nut uhhhhhhh"

It was Definitely GOOGLE! I loved the Chocolate the best, and eating it while drinking a banana granular product to put into milk called "PDQ".

PDQ is correct. NEVER GOOGLE though NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER, NOT HERE NOT THERE NOT ANYWHERE NEVER!!!!!!!!!!GOOGLE. KOOGLE PERIOD! Again offer a grain of proof. There is proof and pictures all over the web for KOOGLE even the old tv commercials with Wolfman Jack for KOOGLE and ya know what there is even pictures of jars and lids for KOOGLE but not a single picture or shred of evidence there was EVER a GOOGLE peanut Butter in fact the only place on the web you see references to Google Peanut Butter is here in this forum by a bunch of dimwits who cant remember and refuse to admit they are wrong.

I remember it as Google. I remember the commercial with the dancing "Goo Goo Googly Eyed" creature. I haven't found pictures or video online - anyone?
Art - February 06, 2015 - Report this comment
I grew up in Miami, FL and I totally remember the commercial also. You'll love GOOGLE, it's the great peanutty surprise, you'll love Google with the Goo Goo Googley eyes. Tell me if the word Koo Koo Koogley makes sense, it doesn't Also surprised no one here has not said anything about Google as much money and power as they have and it's a search engine that they have tried to erase all references to a PB Spread with the same name.
john - February 22, 2015 - Report this comment
Art, You poor soul....let it go there are ACTUAL COMMERCIALS posted online that say KOO KOO KOOGLEY eyes. As compelling as you think your conspiracy theory is, it is simply bunk. If there was actually a google peanut butter that the evil corporate giants were erasing, don't you think oh I don't know maybe YAHOO would exploit that against their largest competitor. Again if you read above there is a post from somebody AT KRAFT that said it was NEVER google. For real all the pictures, commercials, data and otherwise say KOOGLE. You are just remembering incorrectly. If you all are so convinced produce ONE SHRED of evidence to prove your case, all the evidence so far says that I (and the rest of the world of reality) am correct. I don't care how you remember it, it simply NEVER EVER was GOOGLE!!

there certainly Was a google peanut butter. The jingle went "Google with the Goo Goo Googly eyes". It was great flavored spread. I loved the banana.

Alas WRONG AGAIN It was Koogle with the Koo Koo Koogley eyes and some of the commercials were done by Wolfman Jack. I commend you all on your commitment to your misinformation I love your "don't confuse me with the facts my mind is already made up" approach to life. To be fair I will eat crow all day if any of you can produce a single shred of evidence besides all of you endlessly droning "NUT UHHHH" that a peanut butter named "google" ever existed. How about a link to one of these commercials you keep sputtering about. Of course you will never find it because it does not now, nor did it ever exist. Again one shred of credible evidence and I will go away forever.

Yes folks it was Google Peanut Butter. I was never a regular peanut butter eater as a child but when my kids were little in the 70's I got hooked on Google Cinnamon PB. I also thought I was crazy because when I mentioned it to younger folks they had never heard of it. We lived in Phenix City, Alabama at that time. It disappeared from the stores @ some point and we turned to Jiff and are still Jiff eaters. Would love a jar of Cinnamon Google still!

I dont remember the koogle name at all, im not too sure on Google either. Im from Pennsylvania and what definitely recall was 4 flavors. Chocolate, Vanilla, Butterscotch, and Hazlett and stripes either on the label on lid and im not confusing it with goober. I did love them all and they were gone before you knew it. Something about PB in the name sounds very familiar. I wish my mom was here to ask, sadly shes gone. The memories associated with the peanut butter are whats important, not the peanut butter. All of you stated a recollection of family inside your comments, hold on to that, god bless
