Description
It was a cereal that came out around 1975. The pieces were shaped like monsters/freaks and each creature had a different name. I remember begging my mom to buy it for me because of the commercial and I wanted to collect the stupid plastic freaks that you could order with box tops.

The cereal debuted in 1973 and was only on the market a couple of years. The plastic figurines were FREE inside the cereal box you didn't have to send away for them. I ate tons of this stuff in late 1974 and finally got all the figures.
who remembers the freakies song? -- we are the freakies, we are the freakies and this is the freakies tree... we never miss a meal, 'cause we love our cereal!

I was about 10 when this cereal came out. I went through box after box trying to collect all seven characters. I had multiple duplicates of most of them when--finally--I got Hamhose, completing the set. And yeah, I still remember the song...is that sad or what?!

We are proud owners of a snorkeldorf figurine and magnet - we proudly display both in our home. Snorkeldorf was Mark's favorite character and he lovingly preserved this nostalgia for over 35 years. Ellyce is a relative newcomer to freakies (ie today). She favors Goody-Goody (cause she's pink)

I have the same testimony, Barbara! My brother and I remember the cereal and the song and no one believed us either! This is how I remember it though; OH WE LOVE OUR FREAKIES CEREAL, OH DARLING YOU KNOW WE DO, 'CAUSE IT'S CRUNCHY AND DELICIOUS AND IT'S GOOD FOR ME AND YOU. "I can not tell a lie, I was cutting down the Frealies Tree" Does anyone remember that commercial? I believe it was on air in '76 in honor of the bicentennial. One of the Freakies was supposed to be "Honest Abe"

I too remember this cereal very well for how long it took me to find all 5 little hard plastic figurines.Not to mention how many boxes it took me to eat to get them. But the most exciting thing happened today, 10-27-09.My Dad is moving after 40 years from my childhood home and low and behold tonight when I was cleaning out some left over hidden treasured toys of mine, there they were!!Green BossMoss, blue snorkledorf, pink GoodyGoody, and 2 others I can't recall. It truly took me back to my fabulous childhood, I'll NEVER get rid of them, EVER!!!!
