Description
These were made by Pillsbury. I remember my great grandma giving them to me as a kid. I don't really think they were very low in fat or anything, but then of course they tasted a lot better than the stuff out there today. I haven't seen them in the store in over 10 years, but if anyone knows where to find some, I'd love to have them again!

I saw this and had to chuckle. I remember the Lemon and chocolate flavors only because my cousin and I got into my Aunt's boxes 'cause we thought they were creme wafers. How did anyone lose weight on these, they were full of sugar?
Rachel Zeigler - September 25, 2007 - Report this comment
I loved these bars. My mom would eat these all the time. We used to sneak some out of the box. I would love to find some. Please let me know, if I can buy them anywhere...

My aunt always had the vanilla. I loved them!! There is no way anyone lost weight with these, they were too yummy.

I ate these as kid with my granmother. I was addicted. Vanilla was my favorite. I heard they were bad for you is why they quit making them. I would buy them now if I could.

Me and my sisters used to sneak them from our Mom! She would let us have them sometimes too. Chocolate and Vanilla were awesome!!!!

Man I wish I knew where to buy them. I loved them growing up. I remember when I got my first job and would buy them instead of candy bars. Like someone said they tasted like wafers. Let's all write Pillsbury and ask them to bring them back.
PAM - April 24, 2008 - Report this comment
I E-MAILED PILLSBURY. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD CONSIDER BRINGING THEM BACK. WE'LL SEE. THEY WERE GREAT. EPECIALLY THE CHOCOLATE FLAVOR.
George - May 04, 2008 - Report this comment
If ppl lost weight on these, it'd because they replaced a meal with it. If one ate 300 calories of granulated sugar for a meal (or butter, for example), one would still lose weight. They were not low in fat either. Not healthy, but that's why they tasted so good.
Suz - May 06, 2008 - Report this comment
I was surfing on the net to see if they made these any more. They were SO Yummy! I thought there was a strawberry one, but maybe I'm thinking vanilla... My grandmother had these as well, and would give them to me as a snack. Miss them terribly!
Jeff - May 19, 2008 - Report this comment
These didn't seem to be a quality diet product to me. I think the deal was that they contained added vitamins and minerals, and candy bars, pop tarts and the like didn't have anything added. It seems like a stupid idea today, but then I just saw an energy bar at the convenience store today selling for $5. And it's just a big, glorified candy bar. Oh, and Figurines tasted great. They were kind of expensive for our budget, so we didn't get them often.
Linda - June 26, 2008 - Report this comment
I used to love the Caramel-Nut flavored Figurines. I would freeze them and eat them for breakfast with a cup of hot tea. For me it had nothing to do with dieting, they just tasted so darn good! I wish they were still available, I'd buy them in a second.

I was addicted to figurines 25 years ago. I was in great shape and ate them by the box fulls, they were my dessert (hehe). I was telling my daughter about them (cuz I'm on a diet and wanted to see the nutritional value), but couldn't find them and didn't remember seeing them in a really long time. I did a web search and found this blog. I am sad to see they aren't in production anymore, but I will email Pillsbury too. Everyone here should do that and see what happens.

I loved the chocolate ones. I would put them in my swim bag then eat it as a snack by the pool once it was good and soft. Does anyone remember the Breakfast Squares? Thay were sort of like a brownie but really dry and powder like. SOOOO good.

I am a personal trainer and one of the trainers that I work with was eating what looked like a Figurine. I mentioned this to her (she is only 21) and she laughed and said there is no way such a thing existed. I HAD to do a search to find some information to prove to her they were real. How funny. I can't wait to show her this tomorrow. I only wish I had a picture.
Linda - September 01, 2008 - Report this comment
I've been hunting for them too online. They were great tasting...especially the caramel nut ones. I ate 6 of them a day along with a regular evening meal and lost 80 lbs. in one year without the added benefit I'm sure I would've received exercising. They were a lot less expensive than the protein/diet/fiber bars on market today and certainly more filling and tastier.

WOW! I agree with every sentiment I've just read. It's been at least 20 yrs since I've had a Vanilla Figurines bar - and I remember exactly what they tasted like...pure heaven! Today I was eating natural almonds and just for a moment I had that Vanilla Figurines flavor - hence finding this blog. Maybe I'll start a petition and forward to Pillsbury.

I lost 50 lbs. in 4 months on Figurines in 1978. They came in packs of 2 and I would eat one every 3 to 4 hours and supplement it with a couple of V8 juices and vitamins. I used them in place of a meal. Chocolate was my favorite and I liked to keep them in the refrigerator. Bring them back!

I LOVED figurines!!! I've contacted Pillsbury with hopes they would bring them back. I loved them as well as Carnation Breakfast Bars (also discontinued)-YUM! If you liked the taste of the vanilla Figurines, try the Pepperidge Farm French Vanilla Pirouette's- obviously there not low cal or anything but they taste SO similar. It's a throw back and will bring back memories.

a lot of people asked how you could lose weight on these. i lost 130 pounds in the late 70's. i did it by eating figurines or slender bars for lunch and sensibly at the other two meals. they definitely worked for me and i wish they'd bring them back.

Smores was my favorite. I used to eat those daily! The grahm flavored wafer was more like burnt brown sugar caramel, but was still a wonderful flavor combination with the chocolate coating and the uniquely delicious toasted marshmallow flavored creme filling. YUMMMM, I REALLY WANT A BOX OF THEM!!!

They must have had several jingles. I was just a kid in the 70's but I remember the jingles as such: Figurines help keep you as you are, with a calorie rate one thirty eight a bar. I was just getting a nutri-grain bar and that song got into my head. I could not remember the name "Figurines" so I googled "with a calorie rate 138 a bar" and I got right here!! Sorry to say I never tasted them. Everything Pillsbury makes is delicious!!

I was just thinking about my favorite chocolate figurine bars. I filled out a 'find a product' from the Vermont Country store webpage. You can request them to find products that are discontinued or hard to find. I found them in a walgreens about 1996 and never seen them again. I too have emailed Pillsbury. Let's cross our fingers!

I remember eating these back in high school. I loved the chocolate ones right out of the fridge. I didn't even need to be on a diet. I just loved the way they tasted. Pillbury should bring the back as breakfast bars since they were really too sugar-y to be a diet bar.

Hello, my name is Laurie and I'm a Figurine-aholic. I ate them between the ages of 18-21 I think (I sure was thin back then, maybe because I would eat them as a meal!) So many yummy flavors - they did make a great dessert too and satisfied the sweet tooth. Maybe we should get a petition going and submit to Pillsbury!

I am amazed that so many people have such fond memories of Figurines! My mom used to use them and my sister and I LOVED them! I agree, my mom did have success with these bars and they tasted SOOOOO good! There was a certain "crunch" they had that I have never found since. I was hoping they were still made but after searching everywhere I can think of, I found out for sure they have been discontinued. I loved the chocolate flavor and there was one called chocolate caramel (I think?) that was absolutely to-die-for! I'm reading that Pillsbury made them - I do wish they would consider putting them back on the market - maybe even just as a snack item. They were terrific and I really miss them.

Yes, Carole, I finally remembered the name of these things after about 2 weeks trying...I used to buy these when I was a teenager in the early 1980's-I remember the chocolate mocha with little shavings of fake chocolate sprinkled on top. That plus the Aids chocolate appetite supressants and Alba shake packets. Yup! I was so thin then. I lived on that crap. Hope we aren't sorry down the road-he he. Btw, Figurines were sold in a box about the size of your average granola bar. And I can almost remember the tv theme song, wasn't it akin to "Volare-whoa oh oh oh"??? "Fig-urines..."???? Funny.

Throughout my life I have battled weight issues, exept for my "Figurine" stage. I was a teenager in the 70's and my weight flutuated around 225 -250 (I am 5'3"). In 1976/77 I was on a strict "Figure" exclusive diet for almost 2 years and at one point got my weight down to less than 100 pounds. Those were the best days of my life - lots of dating and sex. Subsequently I suffered a lot of serious health issues. I have had my gall bladder removed and partial pancreas removal also I had 7 feet of my large intestine removed. I am diabetic and on renal dyalisis three times per week. Regretfully my weight is now over 375. But I fondly remember my "Figurine" days as the best of my life. I hope to one day get back to those times. "Figurines" could get me there - I am sure.

They were still making these in the mid-1980s, when I was a freshman in high school. I distinctly remember the commercial from the early and mid '70s, with the Mary Tyler Moore-looking brunette walking around and singing "138 a baaaaar..." That jingle has been stuck in my head for about 35 years now. "My shape belongs to Fig-ur-ines..."

I have often wondered about the figurines bars... I also stole them from my mother whenever I had the chance. I was just eating some of the new Keebler 10 Calorie Right Bites: Fudge Shoppe Fudge Dipped Pretzels and for a few bites, they had the crumbly goodness of the figurines "filling". I sometimes wish they would come back, and sometimes not because I would probably gain weight eating so many :)

The closest thing I found to Figurines are protein bars by powercrunch.com. They are creme filled wafer bars - choc and vanilla. Not very healthy though but worth a good Figurine flash-back. Walgreens St. Louis has these now but probably not for long (12 grams of fat!).
