Description
Sort of like a poptart, these fruit filled pastries had a tube swirled around, making a spiral. They came in different flavors. I remember blueberry, also had frosting, and may have been made by kelloggs.

I think I remember almost begging for these. We got them once or twice as a special treat. They tasted like a pastry. The commericals always made a big deal out of being from "Battle Creek". I remember the cinnamon. They were great, kind of similar to the round iced pastries Pop Tarts put out in the pate 90's.

Hey I loved these things and have searched for them on the internet for a few years. I was hoping I could find out who made them and beg them to make them again. My favorite was the strawberry with white icing and pink sugary sprinkles.
Kirk - February 26, 2008 - Report this comment
they were made by Kellogg's and they were 'too die for'. wish they'd make them again!

I loved, loved, LOVED these things! I agree with Michele that the strawberry ones were the best. God I wish they would start making them again.

Why couldn't Kelloggs make BOTH Danish-Go-Rounds AND Pop-Tarts? I prefer danish over a "regular" toaster pastry.

I cannot believe there are so many people out there who remember them. I EVEN REMEMBER THE COMMERCIAL! They were awesome, wouldn't it be great if they could bring them back!

My sister and I loved these. Hands down; they were THE best choice for breakfast before school. Strawberry, cinnamon - both were fabulous; and I, too, WISH they'd bring them back again!!!

Danish Go Rounds were introduced in 1968. They were an extruded rope of dough with fruit filling in the middle, wrapped to form an oval. The dough was very similar to our current Kellogg's® Pop-Tarts® Toaster Pastries. Because of the way they were made, they broke or crumbled easily, and were replaced in 1976 by Danish Rings. Danish Rings had a flakier pastry with fruit filling, and stamped in an oval shape. Unfortunately, they never caught on! Consumers much preferred Kellogg's® Pop-Tarts®, so Danish Rings were discontinued in 1980.

Oh man! I loved these things! Danish-Go-Rounds and a 16 oz bottle of Coke was my favorite breakfast!

My brothers and I often share recollections of how good Danish Go Rounds were. Wow, have we gotten old. It's true, they just don't make things like they used to. When I was your age...

Oh, I loved Danish-Go-Rounds, but my mom wouldn't buy them. I remember having them at a sleepover at someone's house and falling in love with them. They were absolutely delicious-PLEASE bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maureen from Whittier - October 21, 2008 - Report this comment
I was thinking about these today and remembering the name had something to do with a merry-go-round. Sure enough, I remembered their name. These were classic. I think they cost more than pop tarts though and my parents had 8 children so...we only enjoyed them a short time. They were absolutely delicious.

How cool! Who would have thought I would find this many folks thinking and wishing for Danish go rounds. My brother, sister and I loved them!! Wonder why Kellogg's couldn't make them again, with all of the other "new" products? I know my kids would love them.

I don't remember which flavor(s) we had, but I sure loved these! I think the frosting was white with multi-colored sprinkles. Too bad they don't make these any more, as they were FAR superior to Pop Tarts.

Has anyone shared this page with Kellogs. It would be nice if they could reintroduce this favorite.

Aww man, these were awsome! I wish I never found this site, too much good stuff long gone! boohoo!
JanetG - February 15, 2009 - Report this comment
My favorite was the cinnamon. I'm still a pop-tart eater at age 46, even though they come 2nd to Danish Go Rounds which were far superior. Maybe we could write to Oprah. She could probably get Kellogs to bring them back.
Fly Lopez - February 21, 2009 - Report this comment
At last ... people who know about Danish Go Rounds ! I'm 45 and nobody who I ask about this wonderful tube filled pastry remembers them. My memories trace back to eating this Kellogs product with milk to wash them down while watching the TV shows: Gomer Pile, Emergency, Adam Twelve, Room 222, Mod Squad, Chase, Kojack, Baretta, and Police Woman. Danish Go Rounds are the best.

Man! I'm another Danish-Go-Round lover. In the mid-sixties, I was in the Air Force, stationed in the Alexandria, VA area, living off base. I had a small efficiency apartment and these things were the best! For a single guy, they made for quick and easy breakfasts and snacks. If I mention them to other people, they look at me like I'm from another planet. I too wish they still were available.

I remember these well, my sister liked poptarts and I liked these, and as usual they discontinued the stuff I liked and kept hers (also remember cherry unfrosted poptarts).

This is great! Other people remember these as well! I actually had a dream about these last night but couldn't rememner their name. "Danish Go Rounds". They were way tastier than regular Pop Tarts. I just had to show my children when I found a photo of them on the web. Let's bring them back!

I couldn't remember the exact name and every time I tried to describe them to people they looked at me like I was crazy. I was beginning to think I had imagined them! I'm so happy to see I'm not alone in my pining for Danish Go Rounds...

I'm so glad I'm not crazy remembering these things. I use to love to eat them by breaking of the pastry in sections so I would eat it as the round become smaller and smaller. For the life of me I could not figure out how to describe these to other people as I got older except they remind me of the old braided oval rugs. Thanks for the site.

OMG...For years I thought I was the only one to have eaten these! My sibs can't recall them. I agree with Chris (above) that's exactly how I ate mine...I remember them looking like PAPER CLIPS! Cinnamon was the only one for me! BRING THEM BACK!
Chip - August 07, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes! Finally, my wife doesn't think I'm crazy (well, not because of this)! I loved the raspberry ones. What do we need to do to bring these back?

I am 45 and antime I ask people do you remember those awesome toaster pastries called Danish Go Rounds? Nobody ever did. I began to doubt my sanity UNTIL I found this site. Me and my brother used to finish the cinnamon ones faster then my mom could buy them. Pop Tarts...well they just suck compared to DGR's. Bring them back!!! My kids are missing out! If they could only experience getting up early on a Sat morning, make some Danish Go Rounds and milk, turn on Fat Albert, or the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour, aaaaaah, life was good!!!!!!

It's like I found that support group I have always wanted. I LOVED the Danish Go Rounds. Like many or all of you, I have been looking, searching for years for that wonderful breakfast treat. Sure, now I buy Pop Tarts for me and my kids but miss me some Danish Go Rounds. Come on, if they can have a Coke, Coke Classic and all the rest of those, you can make some older people (me included) happy by bringing it back. Even for a short time.

Found this while I was searching for a picture (yeah, I printed it out so I can prove I'm not all the way crazy). You need to type into Google Danish Go-Rounds and at the upper left of the home screen click on "images". There are pictures but I also found one that has photos and an old commercial. Pretty cool. Sounds like I'm gonna have to start a Facebook "Danish Go Rounds" Fan page!

I wish I could find the commercials for KRAZIE GLAZIES which were also in the Pop Tart vein. There is NOTHING on all of the internet about them.

I remember them too!! Loved them for breakfast dunked in milk! I wish we could find a picture to add to this page. C'mon Kelloggs, bring' 'em back!!
Laurie - November 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered these!I especially loved them dunked in milk. They were the perfect breakfast before school, and the best after school snack, particularily during cold Wisconsin winters! Strawberry and Cherry were my favorites;I don't recall any other flavors mentioned here. So much better than sickneningly sweet Pop Tarts -- Geez, why not just give kids a candy bar for breakfast? Yep, what memories...I really miss Danish Go Rounds!

I'm another fan. Same as so many others-I loved these , MUCH better than Poptarts to those of you who never had the pleasure of eating them! My coworker and others my age don't recall them either which is weird as I thought they were really popular. Bring em back!!
Laurie - December 09, 2009 - Report this comment
I also LOVED the Danish Go Rounds!!If everyone is really serious ,why don't each of us write or call Kellogg's and insist that they start production again on these delicious treats !!!
JD - January 24, 2010 - Report this comment
Danish-Go-Rounds were unbelievable! Wrote Kelloggs and they said no plans on re-release...too bad, they blow pop tarts away. Would be great to have these again, especially cinnamon.
Margie - February 03, 2010 - Report this comment
They can't afford to make these again. When they first came out, even with their higher price that few families could afford to pay- sales were great! So much so; that Kelloggs Pop Tarts sales took a dramatic nosedive! Pop Tarts cost 1/3 the cost of Danish Go Rounds to manufacture. Kelloggs could only double their manufacturing costs on them to keep them witin the affordable zone- while they could triple those cost on the Tarts and keep them in the lower end of that same zone. In order for them to keep the profit margin they've become accustomed to from Pop Tarts; the cost to "recreate" the Danish Go Rounds would be to price them at around $8.49 for a pkg. of 4. If you're willing to pay that much for them to make a comeback- tell Kelloggs that you're willing to pay them THAT much & I'll bet they'd bring them back.

Danish go rounds. Who of our generation could forget those delicious swirled toaster pasteries? I used to bug my Dad to buy those when he went food shopping.I must have been about 4 years old when they were on the grocer's shelves. That was back in 69. That was when Drakes Cakes wrapped their Ring Dings, Yodles, and Devil Dogs in foil and were made with more natural ingredients.
