I've been looking everywhere for info on these! So far all I have found out is that they were made by Neilson. Oh, I've also found out that there are ALOT of us looking for them. They should brings these back! MMmmmm

Yes,they were quite a good chocolate bar.I remember eating them in the summer; I think it was 1977.That's all I did was buy those chocolate bars and then one day they were gone.Couldn't get them anymore and I wondered where my favorite chocolate had gone. It was made by Neilson."Neilson's Cinnamon Danish" and the thought of that sweet.... cinnamon... and wafers makes my mouth water everytime. Then I think back to that chocolate bar and the good old summer of I think it was 1977. What a great time! Cadbury makes Neilson chocolates now.We should write them about this chocolate bar in regards to bringing it back as a good old Retro Bar.Cadbury probably doesn't realise how many people long for this chocolate bar.
Reg - June 04, 2008 - Report this comment
I remember the Danish Bar very clearly as it was wrapped in clear plastic with a brown cardboard bottom. I loved these bars. I recall two flavors. They were a creamy white color with red or yellow swirls. The red tasted of cinnamon danish. The yellow tasted of lemon danish. The creamy coating and thin wafers made a light snack. I loved them and wished they would come back. Maybe it's time the big chocolate bar companies bring this classic back to life. I truly believe that they would be a big seller. I always thought Lowney distributed these bars, but Neilson's makes more sense. So bring back the Danish Bar, the new generation would love them. PS This would not be impossible. Old Dutch Chips bought back the "Mexican Chile" flavored chips after many requests and a signed petition.

I've been searching online for info about the good ol' Neilson's Danish bar that I remember loving as a young child and this is the first place I've finally found with mention of it. I sure hope someone picks up the ball and starts making them again. They were so different from the rest of the run-of-the-mill brown chocolate stuff in candy-wrappers.
Dan - January 04, 2009 - Report this comment
Very good chocolate bar. I have a friend at Neilsons and only if enough people sign the online petition will they bring it back. Thats over 15,000 people.
Eddie G. - January 27, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes!! I remember this candy bar was in "competition" with the 10:30 candy bar... which was very similar, but I think that the Danish had a stronger cinnamon flavor while the 10:30 was a bit sweeter. Both were good, and if we couldn't get one, then the other was more then welcome! At that time, each bar cost 16 cents!!!
AN - February 05, 2009 - Report this comment
I'm so glad I found this - I'm not crazy after all. Every time I wistfully describe the cinnamon danish bar for people, I get blank looks - nobody remembers them except me! Probably my favourite when I was 9 years old... I used to get them in Ottawa, but I'm out west now, maybe they didn't sell them out here?
Michie - March 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Hahaha that happens to me too! People have no idea what I am talking about when I mention it. I have been searching for the name of this delicious chocolate bar I remember when I was a kid! It was soo good!! Bring it back!!

I remember this bar!!! The center was a wafer, like a Mr Big, right? It was, essentially, a white chocolate Mr Big.
Kalli - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
This was my mom favorite. I remember buying her a case for Mother's day one year. They were so yummy. I remember thinking I was really grown up eating them since it was my mom's favorite, I thought they were for grown ups.

Like many of you I miss the Cinnamon Danish bar. I don't know why I was thinking of it just now, or why I searched for it. Perhaps it was because I was just shopping for a candy bar, and nothing really got me. The Cinnamon Danish was my favorite, but my wife and her family look at me strangely when I mention it. I guess those that liked it, liked it a lot.
Calgary Dad - May 11, 2009 - Report this comment
My family still talks about these bars that we used to enjoy on car rides. The only thing similar nowadays is Ultimate French Cremes by Dare, but they're a pale substitute. Bring back the Danish Bar as a retro favorite!

Just for everyone’s interest I submitted a picture (twice) of the Cinnamon Danish bar wrapper for review. It has been a week and still no sign of the picture. I guess the picture review committee must be on holidays. Sorry, hopefully one day it will be posted.

I've been wondering about these bars for years. Loved 'em in the late '70's too. I thought I was going nuts! I don't even do dairy anymore, but if they brought these back I'd have to reconsider. They were kinda like a white chocolate Mr. Big. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Nothin' like 'em!!

I thought I was the only person who knew about these yummy chocolate bars. I liked that they were white chocolate and had the zig zaggy reddish pink stripes. I don't remember it being too cinnamony, just melt in your mouth wafer and creamy chocolate

I came to Canada in 1974 from the UK and had my first cinnamon danish candy bar, along with one called crunchwich, I love both of them and suddenly they were discontinued, no reason given, why do companies wait until you really love something and then take it away, that is what I would like to know ??????

Holy crap I have been looking for this chocolate bar since I was in grade three. Finally the woman who owns the chocolate store in the Crossroads Farmers Market in Calgary told me it's name. I have asked every store I have been in about the Danish. So funny it's the thing I remember the most about being a kid is going to the Red Roster in Millwoods. Amazing,I am not the only one. It's like a episope of X Files. How do I start a petition like the one mentioned above?
Linda - October 01, 2009 - Report this comment
What memories, when I was like 7 or so my dad would give us our tiny allowance and we'd go pick a treat at the old style general store in Nova Scotia. I used to like saving my money but I'd always spend it to buy my cinnamon danish. I'll never forget the wafer and delicate cinnamon taste. As I get older I'm not into brown chocolate as much but I would totally become re-addicted to cinnamon danish, I would totally sign a petition to bring it back.
LInda - October 01, 2009 - Report this comment
going off track but another favorite was BarSix kinda like a KitKat but the wafer had this cool kinda burnt flavour
Anita - November 05, 2009 - Report this comment
Whoever said it was like a Mr Big bar is right. I recently ate a Mr Big bar and instantly remembered a similar bar with white coating and cinnamon flavour. Could not for the life of me remember the name. I don't think I would ever have come up with "Cinnamon Danish" but surely that's what it was. Too bad there's no picture on here.

I live in the States but used to vacation every summer outside of Port Colbourne, Ontario. The local store was Concessi's and I used to get my 'fix' of these yummy morsels of goodness there. We never had them down here, so no one has ever been able to walk down memory lane with me about these....I am salivating just remembering!

OMG there are about 50 of us here that have been trying to remember the name of that bar for about 20 years. I remember it was a lot like a Mr Big Bar only in White. OMG! My boyfriend and I started talking about our fave childhood bars a couple of yrs ago and it turned out we both loved the same one but weren't sure what it was called (obviously we were meant to be together). Whenever we'd pass by an "old fashioned" candy store I'd go in and describe it, but they never knew what I was talking about. I know, same story as everyone else here - but now we know! Thanks for the jpg link; I got teary just looking at it. :-) Yes, this bar MUST come back. What to do, what to do....

Bring this back. PLEASE. It was up there with Baby Ruth and Reese's Cups in the candy bar Hall of Fame, as far as I'm concerned. I can still remember how it looked sitting in the candy machine that was in my friend's father's gas station. It probably cost a quarter back then! Bring it back, I'll PAY...

This was my FAVOURITE chocolate bar of all time! There's just nothing like it. I remember the original, and then later on they came out with the Lemon Danish, and am I losing my mind or wasn't there briefly also a Cherry version too?? I seem to remember seeing all 3 colours of bars lined up beside each other on the racks in front of cash registers: white chocolate with brownish-orangy swirls on top (cinnamon danish), or yellow swirls (lemon danish), or pink swirls (cherry danish). Am I just imagining this? What gets me is, when I walk into one of these "retro candy" stores and frantically search for it and then explain to the people who work there what I'm so eagerly hungering for, NOBODY knows what I'm talking about and they act like like I'm nuts cuz they weren't even born yet when they were available. At least get some staff in there who KNOW 70s candy fer cryin' out loud!

There has never been a better bar in the world. I estimate I consumed just over 800 bars in it's too brief run, I was simply addicted to the regular cinnamon only. The lemon was horrid. Please sign the petition above started by kevzpawz, but I don't think they'd revive it with a million signatures. My wife and I are attempting to reproduce them here at home in the meantime.

This is so cool. As i read these posts I totally relate. Anytime I start to mention the Danish Bar, i always get the deer in the headlights look. This IS like a support group! I echo the sentiments of all of you and have just now stumbled onto this site. I will sign the petition, but I believe I know the problem. I have friends who for years talked about these, but didn't have a clue what their name was. My Dad owned a poolroom where people literally bought caseloads of them. We send out forwards to people all the time for trivial things. Why not this? A description of the bar and the link, and ask them to forward to their friends? Fingers crossed...

Grew up in Sask. and have fond memories of this bar. Very few seem to remember it though! It was kind of similar to a Mr. Big in weight and feel but the smell and taste were unique and sooooo much better! I recall it from circa mid-70s to possibly the very early 80's. Someone mentioned the Bar Six... I was hit with a wave of nostalgia as I hadn't even thought of that bar since it was in the stores! Still somehow I recalled what its 2 wrappers looked like (confirmed by GIS). :)

Growing up in Ottawa i remember buying these @ Ayoub's Variety on Pleasant Park Road. They were a quarter - $0.27 with tax. The white chocolate with a hint of cinammon and that clear wrapper - classic bar for sure; in fact, the only bar i bought as a child. Sure would be nice to see them come back into the market, even as an "in & out"! Pepsi brought a cane sugar 'retro version' back into the market last year called "throw back" in the old can as well. Cadbury (Nielsen) should carefully consider this strategy!

Ahhhh the Cinnamon Danish, I too remember eating this bar back in the 70's. I have only 1 friend that remembers them , everyone else thinks I'm crazy. There's a retro candy store here in NB called Freaks Lunch Box they many of the chocolate bars that we used to get from the UK including the Caramac, that was another of my favourites. I decided if the company does not bring the Cinnamon Danish back I'll just make them. I took plain sugar wafers, melted white chocolate threw in some rice krispies and cinnamon and mix then pour over the wafer, voila! Homemade Cinnamon Danish bar. Not identical but close and yummy . :)

It's the same here. Many people look at me like I'm nuts. Telling me I have the name wrong. I believe it was back in 75ish and I would ask my dad to buy me one. Nelson was having a contest and I had to collect all the letters to spell NELSON, once I had all the letters I would get a free movie ticket to go to the show. I was successful I think i ended up with two. Goes to show how many cinnamon danishes I ate. They were the best of the best. I think they should bring them back just for a trial run.

I grew up out West and remember going to the corner store for my Danish Bar fix. I can still see the candy shelf in my mind, but the only candy I can clearly see is the Danish bar. Oh how I miss you!

I have been thinking of these bars since I was a teen and used to buy them all the time white with pink swirls they were so good and then gone. It sure would be nice to see them make a comeback . Thirty some years later and I always think of them when I buy a chocolate bar

As a child growing up in Connecticut, not only do I remember this bar, but if memory serves, it's COUNTERPART/RIVAL was a bar called the... 10:30! I have been trying for the past 23 years to find either of these bars, to no avail. Heck, a lot of people have never even HEARD of them where I now live! (California)

I just had a new cereal bar - if you want to call it that - okay, so Cinnamon Toast Crunch has a line of bars and muffin mix now, believe it or not. But I came looking for this page just to report that I was immediately flown back in time at the initial smell, and taste, of these as identical to my long-lost and beloved Danish bar

I was just having a conversation with my grown kids and I was telling them about my first experience realizing that just because you like a product doesn't mean it will always be out there. I feel like I'm in a support group, on this page. I too have described this bar to people and they look at me like I'm crazy. I was beginning to think I was remembering it wrong and that maybe it was home made and just sold in the nearest store. BEST CHOCOLATE BAR EVER. I used to buy them at the Canex in Petawawa, Ont. Please bring it back!! Devoted...

It's so cool that this page exists. Growing up in Buffalo, I remembered these as my favorite candy bar, but couldn't remember the name, only that they were Neilson. They looked so distinctive, too. With most other candy bars there are "clones" or similar style bars. NOT THIS ONE! Can't they bring them back?

Oh I can't believe others remember this bar too... I loved this candy bar. I remember if I found a dime in the street I would head straight to the convenience store in Bon Accord, AB and buy a Danish! So delicious! I would definitely sign a petition. Although part of me wonders if they would taste as good as our memories of them.

Wow! I have not been on this site since 2009. I am impressed with the amount of fans. The "bring back the cinnamon danish" petition is still very much alive. 145 people on the list……...just 14,855 to go. http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/cinnamondanish It's funny how many years have past and I still can remember the taste like it was yesterday.

Someone else posted this pic but had to repost it! My best friend and I lived on these one summer - tenting in the backyard, eating a Danish Bar and Hostess chips - me Sour Cream and Onion, she had Ketchup flavor:) We were usually obsessing over the latest Tiger Beat magazine. Such great memories! Here is the link to the picture : http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3525/3466698251_a47c0a0ca0.jpg

Remember eating these quite often. One of the only bars i ate and was my favorite by far. Eat Mr. Big as a substitute. But a pale comparsion. Please bring it back. I'm sure it will be a top seller by far. It was the creamy cinnamon taste that did it for me.

I'm so glad there are other people who remember the Danish candy bar! I asked friends my age and none of them remember it, but it was a favourite of mine as a kid! Just seeing the photo makes me relieved that I didn't imagine it! I also see Treasures, which was like Caramilk but with different flavours inside.

Ha. I was just telling the wife that i loved Mr big as a small town Saskatchewan kid, and she knew that bar. Then a mentioned "cinnamon Danish" as my other all time favorite and i got a blank stare. Gave her a description on what it looked like. Nope. Nothin. Googled it with a picture and she still had never seen it before. So good.

I remember buying this candy bar when I was living in Newfoundland in the mid 70s. I was living in the (now defunct) U.S. Navy Base in Argentia. It's possible I bought it inside the base, but I more than likely bought it in Dunville, Placentia or one of the small towns outside the base. A true candy bar, because there was no chocolate, but rather a white creamy cinnamon wafer crunch, etc. Very unique. I have very fond memories of Newfoundland, and this was one of them. It would be nice if they could bring it back!

Glad to see I'm not the only one that remembers this from their childhood. With the exception of my sister, nobody else my age seems to remember these things. Ah yes. The delectable Neilson Cinnamon Danish bar. I remember them well. I had my first in the spring of 1976. I remember every Saturday morning I would bowl in a 5 pin league. At the snack bar, I would always purchase a bar as my treat. I always savored them. The taste was very distinct and addictive. The 70's were a great time-especially Saturdays. Cartoons, pro wrestling, road hockey and Hockey Night in Canada, and Neilson Cinnamon Danish bars-what else could be better!

I can't believe I found this chain. I have thought about, and periodically searched for this bar for decades. I started thinking about this bar several years ago after probably not giving it a second thought in 40 years. Was a favourite of mine in Winnipeg in the 70s. Like everyone here when I started remembering it to other people no one knew what I was talking about. I had to chuckle at a previous comment though....someone mentioned the Dare Ultimate French Creme cookies as a bit of a substitute. Yet another favourite of mine that I’ve been looking for lately and just found out Dare stopped making!! What’s next? Smarties?! Dad’s oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies? Lowney’s Cherry Blossom? Nooooooo...!

Growing up in the 70s, I loved these candy bars so much. As a matter of fact, when I get nostalgic and think back to the days of my youth, I always remember fondly, the times I'd take a dollar and buy 5 at once. And, yes, I ate them all in succession. It was a real sad day for me, when they were discontinued. In my mind, it's still my all time favorite bar
