I remember Chipsters very well. They came in a white box like for cereal and the picture on the front was a family of four in a hotair balloon. I loved them. I wish they were still around. Everytime I try to tell my husband about them he looks at me as if I am making it up. Now I can show him they were for real.

Yep you can get Chipsters in most stores in France. Was working in France for a while and used to come back several pounds heavier after a Chipster excursion. You can but them online from NED - in fact I have just ordered 48 boxes - should keep me going for a couple of weeks:-)

Chipsters are made by Kraft foods -- I just bought some in Italy (Cipsters, the 'ci' makes 'ch' sound) and they are amazing! Am writing Kraft to bring these back to the USA.

I just found chipsters on the internet, and that is not the way I remember them. they were about the size of a corn curl but yellow and thin and long. they did not look like a regular potato chip.
Joyce - January 27, 2010 - Report this comment
I've been searching for chipsters FOREVER! The closest thing I have come across that tastes anything like them at all was a vegetable chip in a bag. (Sorry, can't remember the brand name). I remember them as being a yellowish, oval-shaped chip about an inch or so long. I was so surprised when I just happened to think about looking them up on the internet and found other people just like me.

Chipster's were made by Nabisco. They came in a box. The best chip ever made. Nabisco has discontinued these and have no plans on bringing them back. I wish they would. I can almost taste them. And Darren please post a link to NED website.

A couple of nights ago I was watching the Food Network channel where they had a story on hard to find foods that weren't available in the supermarkets. Chipsters wasn't mentioned but I am quite certain that it would still be availble. I rememer Chipsters as a kid and I loved them and I hope I would be able to taste them again
Carol - March 26, 2010 - Report this comment
Darren...PLEASE post that NED web site! I thought I was the only one who knew of and loved and missed Chipsters. I feel like I have found family even if I haven't found Chipsters...yet! Darren...please!

OMG I loved Chipsters as a kid in the 70's! They were my and my Mom's fav snack chip. I found them again when I was in Italy a few years ago and brought some back for my Mom who was thrilled. They're packaged as Cipsters and they're exactly the same only I haven't been able to find a way to get them here in the US. Please help bring them back!

The first time that I tried Chipsters was while stationed in Italy back in 1980. I loved them more than any potato chips! An off-base grocery store (owned by the grandparents of a local friend) sold "Cipsters." Same as the American Chipsters which I then started buying on base. I wish that Nabisco would bring them back!

there is a snack item they sell at sam's club that is called veggie straws. they are very similar except they are a square straw shape and they have tomato spinach and potato flavors in one bag. tomato and spinach are not a strong flavor the taste is very very similar to chipsters.
Cindy - April 07, 2011 - Report this comment
Just found a similar item at local Big Lots called Potato Straws by World Gourmet Marketing, Butler, NJ. As I was eating them I knew they tasted like a snack from my childhood, knew what they looked like but couldn't remember what they were called. Asked my husband and he knew right away, Chipsters! Brings back memories. Love them!

I just got back from a trip to Paris and while strolling through a grocery market I saw a box that marked "Chipsters". I immediately bought them and tore into the box to taste them and much to my delight they were just like what I remembered my favorite snack of all times as many of you have described above. I have found a web site www.mondizen.com that has them and will ship to the USA. They are brand name "Belin" "Chipsters" and I am eating some now. YUM YUM!!!!!

I LOVED Chipsters as a child. My parents would buy me a box when we went to the grocery store in rural NC in the early 70's. I have Not been able to find them any where in over 30 years. The closest thing I could find to the taste was the Munchos potato chips, but they were not the sames. However, just last night I discovered a product by Kelloggs that is called Cracker Chips. The picture on the box look similar to Chipsters only they are round instead of oblong the way I remember Chipsters. As I said before, it has been over 30 years, but these taste very much like the Chipsters I love.

You can order "Cipsters" online at www.supermarketitaly.com and they ship out of New Jersey! Just finished off a box at lunch today! They are indeed, the same Chipsters we all loved from the 70's! Available in France and Italy, now at least they can be ordered in the US. My favorite snack of all time! I see that one of my brothers and I are not the only ones who love them!

Sensible Portions Potato Straws Sea Salt. I find them in Walmart where the rice cakes are. They taste just like Chipsters. I was on vacation the first time I found them and my friend thought I was crazy because I went back and bought 4 bags because I didn't know if I'd be able to buy them at my local Walmart.

If you are willing to pay for them... you can still get them. Kraft still manufactures them for Italy. Check out the snack sections of online Italian Grocers. Look for this name due to the language faux pas.... "CIPSTER" :)

Nice! makes "All Natural Veggie Sticks" (mixed flavored bag with potato, spinach & tomato sticks - long, hollow rectangular tubes). Different shape but the yellow potato sticks in the bag taste JUST LIKE...Chipsters!!! Yummm!! They're distributed by Walgreens Co so probably available at Walgreen's drugstores. I live in NYC & bought them at a Duane Reade drugstore. My brother in ATL said he gets them at Costco (I think) or Whole Foods (not sure). Try them - I think you'll get your Chipsters fix! :)

I ♥♥♥ Chipsters. They are to die for! Brings back good childhood memories. My sisters & I are addicted to this potato chip & now my son as well! It's sooo good, it should be illegal!!! ヅ After reading all your comments, I'm craving for some Chipsters. Gatta go buy me some now. Just have to mention also, those "veggie sticks" don't do it for me. They're not the same. I buy those too, but they don't satisfy like "THE" Chispter.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chipsters. Like many others I can still taste them. I really miss these chips and really wish they would bring them back. I did find something similar in taste which is a vegy chip that I buy at Meijers but they are not Chipsters.

I miss and I totally loved Chipsters! My husband has no idea what they are. I could use a box of them right now. I get so nostalgic and think about the snacks I ate when I was a little girl. I could almost taste them. YUM, YUM!!!!

I have often wondered what happened to chipsters. I really loved them when I was younger. In the 70's they did come in a box and was yellow and as long as a half finger and curvy. Veggy straws or chips do remind me of the taste of chipsters but not the same looks. I wish some company out there would find the recipe and make them again. Maybe in the 80's they came in a bag but I remember the box.

There is a company called Belin in France, that makes them. You can get them on a website called www.mondizen.com, and they are EXACTLY like the ones when you were a kid!! Only catch is they are expensive because they have to ship them from overseas. For example I ordered 12 boxes and the cost of the chips was $35 and the freight was$55!....

I cannot believe I stumbled upon this thread lol.. I honestly was starting to wonder if I'd dreamed these up. I vividly remember them from my childhood even though no one I've ever mentioned them to seems to have ever heard of them. Those little tiny potato petals had a really unique flavor and texture all their own. I loved them. The closest thing I've ever found in taste is the Sea Salt flavored garden Veggie Straws.. there are 3 colors in the bag and the yellow ones are pretty close to the taste of a Chipster. Thanks to the guys who left the links.. I'll definitely be ordering some!
