they were great! I remember passing a small warehouse (probably where they stored ice cream) on McDonald Ave in Brooklyn and they were selling Bullet Ie Cream t-shirts! I regret never getting one. I thought they would always be around.

DURING THE EARLY AND MID SEVENTIES WE HAD A SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD GROCERY STORE IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY THAT SOLD BULLET ICE CREAM ON A STICK. I REMEMBER ON HOT SUMMER DAYS MAKING THE TRIP TO THE STORE ESPECIALLY FOR "A BULLET". I DONT REMEMBER THE BANANA OR CHERRY FLAVORED CENTER THOUGH. SEEMED LIKE THEY WERE SOLID CREAMY MILK CHOCOLATE. YUM.

I remember them, yummmmm, we used to wait everyday for the ice cream man to come, and without a doubt, I would get that delicious bullet. I have been cruising the web looking for these forever... if you find them make sure you let me know

Scott is right! I spoke to a man in that same warehouse who claims that he used to produce them and is the only one who has the special molds to make them. They had a cherry ice cream center covered with banana ice cream and dipped into a thick milk chocolate shell. If you were careful, you would be able to slide the shell up,eat it first, and then the banana and then the cherry. He said demand fell for it so they stopped making it. He could start producing again if there was demand for it.

YES! Everyone is 100 percent right.I spoke to the guy on McDonald ave. and he said the same thing to me, about having the mold to it. He should read all these responce, and if he just give it a try he will then realize he hit a gold mine. just don't change the ingredients.I am sure it will be a big hit! It was then, and i am sure it will definnitely be a hit now too! please if anyone finds it let me know.

These yummy Popsicles were the best!! They managed to make their way down south to Louisiana too! Although I loved banana split, the red ones were my absolute favorite!! How can we convince the man on McDonald Ave to start making them again?! Does anyone know the name of the place, the man,or a phone number? I'm hoping that if he realized he had a following that he might start up production again

I have been in search of these red bullet pops for several years now. I would buy a case if I ever find them again. They were the best ever. Popsicles today taste artificial compared. I think we should find the manufacturer and put it on their minds to start back up, they would make a fortune.

I am from Eastern Kentucky and we use to walk to the little country store to get one everyday. I only remember the solid milk choc. I have tried every fudge bar ice cream there is and none compare to the solid choc bullet.

OMG!! I am so excited to see that I am not the only one searching for these bullet pops. I have been looking for them for years and have not been able to find them. I am from Louisians and I ate these all the time. My favorite was the banana/cherry dipped in chocolate and the red ones. Not sure what the flavor was but these bullet pops make the ones today taste sooooo artificial.

I also remember the (2)chocolate bullets on a stick in a bag. Creamy milk chocolate and if memory serves me correctly, the paper pkg. was blue/red/white. I got my tongue stuck to the frost on one once and never licked the frost again! Loved those bullets! I don't remember the banana ones.

Hey all!! I'm in Kentucky. Right on the big end in south central good ol KY. I think we have two different ice cream memories going on here. Both equally important and interchangeable. Here in Kentucky and possibly other places in the south, there was a fudgesickle sold in a twin pack, loosely packaged in a paper bag with printing on the outside of the bag "Bag O' Bullets". Previous references to an ice glaze are probably correct. If they ere sold at A&P, I can find no info on the original distributor/maker. The New York Bullet is equally important to the folks in new england and sounds like a winner. However, they are two separate products. I want to learn more about both but especially the Bag O Bullets. Can anyone help?

To those of you looking for the bullet pops. The place in Brooklyn was the one who produced them and I don't think they have made them in years. My dad used to drive for that company. At the time it was called GoldenBar. I think the name is now Marina.

The bullet pops were my favorite from the Pied Piper ice cream truck in the late '50s and early '60s. They were very popular in Northern New Jersey. Pied Piper sold them under the name Clarabells. It was an ice cream bar shaped like a bullet or a cylinder, cherry ice cream in the center, banana ice cream around the cherry, and covered in chocolate, on a stick. It was the best.

I grew up on these myself. I'm from Louisiana and there was only one store that sold them. When I was pregnant with my first child I craved them and at the end of my pregnancy I went to by one and the store stopped me as I was making my way to the freezer and informed me they no longer carried them. I was devastated. I really wish they would bring them back.

I remember the bullet pops but I thought that the kids on my block called them "Clarabelle's." Someone help me! Had some "Dole dippers" tonight, frozen chocolate covered banana slices and they tasted so much like the banana cherry pops minus the cherry! Live in California now and had a Manhattan Special when I visited NY last year. Drank them like crazy when I was a kid. The original Red Bull. Oh what fun memories attached to food. Thanks for this website.

Yes it was called a Clarable Pop. A bullet pop with chocolate then banana and cherry ice-cream. But I remember buying it in Manhattan during the late 50's. I don't know if it was still around for the 70's. The same time as Melo Roll ice-cream.

Yes! You could get the Cherryanza OR Bananza at Taylor Drug Store in Jeffersonville, IN (across river from Louisville). No one remembers them that I know but me. I donā€™t remember the milk chic two to a pack that I see comments about. Also, I do t think it was banana AND cherry but maybe somebody did make those. I didnā€™t and still donā€™t like banana splits so I only would get the Cherryanza. Would love to have another. Thanks! Enjoyed this thread.

The snack stand in Shively (KY) park 60's sold them as well as various ice cream trucks in the projects off Taylor Blvd. "50's. Finally, I think the Shively firehouse sold them too. Cherry Anza & Banana Anza the absolute best. Wife & I both grew up there and we'd love to have them again!

I grew up in the near south side of Indy. During late 50's - early 60's had an ice cream man we called Jingles. He rode a bicycle ice cream cart with bells on it hence the name. My favorite childhood memory is racing home to get a dime and then making a hard decision. Was it going to be a fudge bar, a push up, an ice cream sandwich, a drumstick or a Clarabelle bar?? I loved them all but the Clarabelle bar stands out! The banana or cherry ice cream with the wonderful chocolate shell was the bomb!! If only a company would produce them again...they would make a mint!!

I remember these too and they were my favorite. But I would swear there was more than 1 company that made them. I say this because while I remember the name bullet in the 70's, I remember in the 50's and early 60's we had a rare ice cream truck that came to my Brentwood long island NY street. It was a Reid's ice cream truck. Same exact looking Pop, Chocolate coated bullet shape with banana ice cream with cherry ice cream center. but instead of a bullet they called it a Bomb.
