Description
Similar to Sprite.. Made also by the Coca Cola company.. I suspect they just poured Sprite into Bubble Up cans and marketed them as two separate drinks.

Bubble Up is still made by the same company that makes Dad's Root Beer. The Coca-Cola connection came because most Coke bottlers distributed Bubble Up prior to Coke's introduction of Sprite in 1960. Coke already had a trademark on the name Sprite. The little man with the Coke bottle cap hat in ads during the 1930s and 1940s was named Sprite. Some places didn't get Sprite, the lemon lime drink, for many years. For example, San Diego and Los Angeles didn't get Sprite for more than ten years after its introduction.

When Monarch bought Bubble up in 1978 they did a lousy job of marketing it. I personally thought it went out of business until I saw retro Bubble Up bottles in 2002 or so. Still, all these sodas don't taste as good as they did in the 60's and 70's when the formulas were more original and glass bottle in that era allowed the soda to not pick up weird tastes from plastic.

You can get bubble up at Seaport Village in San Diego at the Hot Licks store in original green bottles and City Walk at Universal Studios in LA but they are expensive. 2.50 a bottle here in San Diego. Log on to www.Dadsrootbeer.com to buy 2 liters or 12packs of cans but Shipping is more than the actual sodas.

I discovered Bubble up in my local .99 cent only store a while back. It tasted alright to me, because I can't taste the difference between HFCS and cane sugar. If you are willing to pay for the shipping, try sodapopstop.com to get a few bottle of the stuff.

Part of the song for the Bubble Up commercial in the 70s went : "Bubble Up your family ..Bubble up your friend(s). Bubble Up with "Bubble Up" , and Bubble Up again."

Bubble Up was not the same as Sprite...It wasn't as acidic....more "flat". You can still buy it at any World Market store...I remember the green bottles it came and still comes in.

Where do you find World Market Stores? I found it on Dads Root Beer homepage, but it is only delivered in Indiana, starting around Indianapolis. I need to find a trucker or friends who travel thru Indiana on their way to snow bird! It is in Big Lots stores down there in Indiana.
