I used to LOVE these chocolate bars. I believe they were discontinued in the late 1980's. And if memory serves correctly, Cadburys was the compnay?
Neil - June 20, 2008 - Report this comment
I remember we used to buy these instead of Kit-Kats because we thought you got more (6 fingers instead of 4). They didn't taste as good as a Kit-Kat, but to a kid, a bigger chocolate bar was always a better chocolate bar.

The cream was hazelnut. I loved em!

Granddad would buy a bunch of chocolate bars in a paper bag and when us kids were over he'd do a "Lucky Dip". Bar 6 and Snack Bar were my favourites, but my Nanny would often trade for my Bar 6 with a couple of quarters added...lol

OMG! I thought nobody else remembered the Bar 6! My Great Gran always kept a paper bag of chocolate bars in her fridge to share with the grandkids. Bar 6 was always my favourite.

I think that the Bar Six originated in England, and came out in Canada around 1968 or so. It was definitely one of my favorites...chocolate over wafers and a hazelnut cream... Price was a dime, typical for chocolate bars at the time. I know there wasn't a smaller nickel version or a larger quarter version as there was with other chocolate bars.

I still wish I could go down to the local corner store & buy a bar six like I used to. They were my most favourite chocolate bar & then they stopped making them. Bring back the bar six!

My favourite bar of all time. Better than Kit-Kat, imnsho. About once a year I write to Cadbury to bring it back. No luck, yet, but you never know. Especially if everybody asks for it.

I can't believe all the kindred spirits here! I still dream about the Bar 6 too. Far better tasting and smoother than a KitKat and I haven't found another favorite bar yet - nothing compares in taste and texture to the Bar 6.

What needs to be done is everyone who wants Bar Six to be back on the market again to contact Cadbury. If enough people request it, surely that would get them to remake and resell it.
Eric - February 07, 2014 - Report this comment
I remember the tv commercial for the Bar Six, it had a young boy asking his dad how many bars are in a Bar Six. The father would eat each bar one at a time until he finished it and then he would tell his son who of course was disappointed that there were six bars. Does anyone remember this commercial ?
Iamneatfreak - March 25, 2014 - Report this comment
My husband and I often recall this bar and talk about the great memories! We both think that the "bueno" bar is the best replacement it's made by the people who make The "kinder surprise ". It has the wafers and delicious hazelnut filling. It's light in texture
RaphEmer - June 23, 2014 - Report this comment
Eric, I remember those ads. My mother refused to buy Bar Six after seeing the father eat his kid's chocolate bar. "Bar none...thank you, Daddy"

Yes, the texture was awesome ... that hazelnut cream would goo out when you bit one. Dang, they were delicious.

I loved Bar six when I was little, what I remember most is the super thin tinfoil not always coming off the bar and getting zinged in the fillings!

I loved my Bar 6. My Dad in Nairobi, Kenya introduced us to them it was my family's favorite treat for years. Yes I am a big fan maybe if we all got on to the Cadbury's twitter site we could get them to revive it. Way way better than Kit Kat and any other wafer in my opinion. Bring them back please please

I liked the bar so much I sent an email to Cadbury and got the following reply; From: Consumer.Relations@brandspeoplelove.com Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 10:21 AM To: []@csplc.com Subject: RE: A Cadbury Online Consumer Query/Feedback [Case: 1-20760280] Thank you for contacting us concerning the availability of Bar Six. Unfortunately, we no longer produce this product. Sales studies indicated that there was insufficient consumer demand for the product; therefore, production was discontinued. Although we are no longer making a product you once enjoyed, your interest is truly appreciated. Your comments will be shared with the appropriate staff members so they are made aware of your inquiry. We hope you continue to purchase and enjoy our other brands. Sincerely, Consumer Relations ----Original Message----- Comment : 20 or so years ago, the best chocolate bar ever, the BAR SIX, was sold in Canada. Does Cadbury make it anywhere else in the world? When was it discontinued. I've searched the web and found many looking for it. It came back to me in a dream and is 'haunting me' :-) It was after all the pinnacle of bars. Cheers

My Grandfather kept Bar Six in his personal mini fridge(which my Grandmother was forbidden to open, lol) and he would get me one when we watched Hockey Night in Canada together. I was allowed to stay up late (I was 5 at the time), see Peter Puck and have a Bar Six. Happy memories! When I met my English husband for the first time, we had a discussion on our favorite chocolate bars, and we both fondly remembered Bar Six. That pretty much sealed our relationship, a common love of English/Canadian chocolate bars!

I'm glad to find others of like mind as I surf the web on a wave of Bar Six nostalgia. I used to love these - much better than a Kit-Kat. I would write to Cadbury & ask them to bring it back, but their parent company don't seem to know much about chocolate, or confectionery in general.....

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBring BBBBBBBBBBBBack the BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBar SSSSSSSSSSix and while your at it BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBring BBBBBBBBBBBBack the Treasures bar and all will be right with the world I cant live on a world without them much longer, oh maybe I could tide myself over with an Eatmore, Crunchy bar, or some other old timey bar that has not been discontinued. Hey a little off topic but what happened to Hoorays cookies from the 70's & 80's? I can't find anyone that even remembers them here in Canada

Does ANYONE remember a chocolate bar of the early 80's called 'Crispen'. The commercial was two construction workers in hard hats - One says to the other "Have a Crispen Stan" other guy would reply "hmmm, I bet a Crispen is crispy". It was a large long square bar shaped like a coffee crisp but the bar was was a chocolate covered, thin layer of caramel and sort of rice crispy filling. Gawwwd they were delicious!!!
Rob Lambert - December 19, 2017 - Report this comment
After some searching, only found two bars close to that name. Crispy Crunch by Neilson's (Canada) and Crispin Crunch by Rowntree (South Africa, then under British rule during Apartheid, 1960s). Found a TV commercial with two kids (filmed in Johannesburg) for Crispin Crunch.

Crispen was great! Try the "100 Grand" bar in the USA. I believe it is similar

Bar six sas the absolute best (...well maybe with treasures and it s six flavours) It beat KitKat bécaause it was gooey just a bit,not as dry and snappy. Anybody remembers Black Cat gum (licorice) that left your tongue black? And the ...cherry flavour Chiclets?(pink box)
