I haven't met anyone else who remembers those! They were big when Tang first came out. I can remember the packaging, the taste and the texture!

We had them in the house all the time. I think they were made by Pillsbury.

Oh man, I *loved* those things. And they came in different flavors! Like chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla, didn't they? Those were awesome!

They were kinda like giant Tootsie Rolls with no flavor if I remember them correctly. Washed down with a glass of Tang, what a treat!

Omg, my sister and I were just talking about the little fudge sticks that grandma used to keep, and we used to eat up lol..We couldnt think of what they were called, so I decided to search lol.. Im glad I found this site, and I agree, pillsbury needs to bring these back.. I would love to keep them in the house for my grandkids, and for me mostly..They bring back suck memories of my grandma.

You can buy them online - just Google space food sticks... but don't get too excited - they taste nothing like the originals!! Darn They used to be sooooo good!

Astronaut Gel- I remember it from 3rd grade...about 1966-67. It came in a tooth-paste like tube and was filled with a sweet blue gel ..they claimed astronauts ate it! More than likely it was just thickened blue sugar syrup!

I'm SO glad that I'm NOT the ONLY person to remember these! My brother and I would take turns sneaking them out of the snack cabinet. Our FAVE was the peanut butter, but chocolate and vanilla where good too! The CLOSEST thing to them NOW, for me, is the center of a Baby Ruth candy bar. If you take away the chocolate, nuts and caramel. Does ANYONE remember GRAPE Tang?
Glenn - April 26, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes, the peanut butter Space Food Sticks were my all -time favourite!!! My mom used to pack them in my school lunch box!

I can't believe the web sites that you can find at three a.m. - To Kathy...I remember grape tang! It was so good, tasted and smelled like grape popscicles. To others...I have ordered the space food sticks to let my son try them, and they do not taste like the original. I can still remember the taste - like tootsie roll with a vitamin powder aftertaste.
