Description
I loved buying Adams Ice Cream Gum. Strawberry was my favorite. My father sold for Warner Lambert the Adams parent company at the time, so I got lots of the gum. This was 1970 and it didn't last long. But the memories do.

I remember this gum. Didn't it have a clown on the pack, and it came in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

My sister Lisa and I used to love this gum. Sometimes I thought that the gum was a figment of my imagination. I remember the strawberry flavored gum and I remember my aunt giving me a penny and a stick of this gum when I was 4 years old. I wish I had some. People never know what I am talking about when I describe it. Now I know I did not imagine this gum. My niece Lea helped me find out about it. Sweet memories of a 4 year old!

Ohhh how I loved this delicious Ice cream gum, I believe it came in chocolate as well. My favorite was vanilla, my sister and I used to get it after church on sunday. I remember putting two sticks at a time in my mouth because I loved the taste so much. This gum was delicious, I wish that they would bring it back. It brings back some really cool memories. I've been asking people if they remember this gum for years, and I too got the "you're crazy" look and they always thought I might have been thinking about Fruit Stripe. Finally I have proof that it existed. This was absolutely the best gum ever. I totally remember always getting this when we went to Thrify's (before Rite-Aid).

This would be a gold mine if they brought it back with all the health conscious people now...Extra has the chocolate mint ice cream which is tasty but Adams chocolate and vanilla were outstanding! Wow...what wonderful memories this brings back. I am surprised gum makers haven't brought these back to life...I would certainly buy them up!

I loved the chocolate gum, even though I thought it tasted like it had coconut in it, I still loved it! I would play ping pong against myself and chew this gum like crazy!

I thought I had dreamed this gum or something. Such a distant memory. What a freak-show to find a webpage of people reminiscing about it. Wish I had a piece of chocolate gum right now.

We used to chew this gum while drinking milk to really bring out the ice cream flavor. I can't remember if the package suggested that or not, does this sound familiar to anyone else?
Rob Lambert - December 28, 2015 - Report this comment
The Ice Cream chewing gum was Adams's budget brand, meaning less sugar, thus flavor lasted only a few minutes. Still five sticks for a dime. Available 1970 to 1972. Flavor of the Adams sour gums and Dentyne lasted twice or more as long.

It sure did come in chocolate, that was by far my favorate flavor! Every weekend in early 1974 I'd spend some of my allowance on some & PEZ at our local drugstore.

The vanilla flavor was what I liked, though I do remember that the flavor was more short-lived than most other chewing gums. While the flavor lasted it was pretty awesome, and unique enough that I still vividly remember the flavor 45 years after last chewing any of it.

I was 16 in the 70’s and would sit on my stoop all night making my gum chain. My friends would collect all the gum wrappers for me and I had every wrapper that was out on the market. My all time favorite wrapper was the three ice cream colors on the chain. I lived in New York and my chain went from one corner of the block until the next. I kept it for many years not knowing it would be a collectors item.

The current company is Cadbury-Adams, parent company is Mondelez. Old standbys like Chiclets and Dentyne are still produced.

I remember this gum! I wish they still made it. I've seen so many other old fashioned candies that are still on the market.

Seeing this brought back memories of the seventies, when I attended high school, and then college! My favorite was the chocolate but I really enjoyed them all! They weren’t around too long, but I still remember how close each flavor was to the original ice cream flavor! Wish it was still being made!
