Loved them! They kind of sprung back when you walked, giving you a little bounce. I had them in white and brown.

Yo-Yo's were my first real "high heels" in 1978-79, while in jr. high. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I never wanted to take them off. Mine were dark brown. I wish I still had them!

I wanted a pair of yo yos SO badly! Buster Brown made a pair called Termites. (Get it? Termites ate the hole in the heel?) Someone at church had received a pair that were too small and gave them to me. My first heels! I graduated after that to yo yos. Velvet yo yos. The commercial went "Uptown, Downtown, everybody something-something. Comf-tor-able yo yoooooooooos by Connie shoes."

I wanted Yo-Yo's so bad I made a deal with my mother that I would quit sucking my thumb if she would buy me a pair. Mine were the ones with the multi-colored straps. I LOVED THEM!

I had my first pair of yo-yo's in fifth grade (79-80), then had like 3 different pairs over the next couple of years...All I want is to see a picture of some again. Aww...the memories.

OMG! Do I remember Yo-yo's! It's wonderful reading everybody's memories. Here is perhaps my most memorable Yo-yo's moment: When I was in the eighth grade, my sister,(who is three years older than me) had a slumber party. One of her girlfriends wore a pair of multi-colored Yo-yos, which I noticed immediately. When evening finally arrived, all of the girls changed into their PJ's and settled in the family room for a night of television, games, etc. I snuck into my sister's bedroom, found her friend's Yo-yo's and slipped them on. It was wonderful...the colorful straps over my toes, the squishiness of the heels as I walked across the floor. I was in shoe heaven! All of that only lasted for a few minutes, though--until one of the girls from the party happened to walk down the hallway and catch me in the act. Ordinarily, it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal--were it not for the fact that one of my sister's girlfriends had just caught me (her little brother) wearing a pair of Yo-yo's. All the girls rushed in to look and laugh, and I got in all kinds of trouble with my Mom. At the time, it was a horribly embarrassing experience--although today, as a very open crossdresser, I look back on it with fond memories. I, too, would love to see Yo-yo's make a comeback.(Incidentally, I never did get a pair of genuine Yo-yo's. The closest I came was wearing a pair of cheap K-mart knock-offs that looked similar, but were not nearly as well made!)

I've got a pair of vintage yo-yo's from the seventies barely ever worn. Light brown leather staps and HIGH heel platforms. Very cool. Selling them on Ebay. sz 7 1/2. Still in original box. seller spc319.
