these sunglasses are actually called aviators, the aviators originated during the second World War, and was most commonly used by military pilots all throughout the 1940's-present

Yeah, these were called aviators and they peaked in popularity during the 70s, when they were really the standard style for both men and women. By the standards of the late 80s and the 90s, they looked oversized, but 70s glasses were generally oversized. Some of them were mirror ones, others were graduated with smoky tinting, others were just clear. And initials or tennis rackets in the corner started being popular in the mid-70s.
