Description: this was a roach clip decorated with leather strip, beads and colored feathers. Multi-purpose; when it wasn't being used as a roach clip, it was used as a barrett for your hair. Sometime we hung them from our purse straps.

we wore those things all the time-mine had white feathers all the way down it.i told my mom it was a hair decoration so she would think the clip was to keep it in the hair and not for anything else-i dont think she wouldve known what a roach clip was anyway.

I made these and sold them to the head shops around Memphis. Good seller. :)

These were really popular in the Dallas area where I lived even into the early 80s, though by that time they were being mocked as "too 70s" and associated with the stadium-rock clique. Guys would wear them on neckchains, too. It's amazing that kids were allowed to wear these to school; these days they'd probably be attacked by cops or expelled.

Popular in Ohio ,too. had a few one hanging off my purse another off my review mirror in my car. It hurt in my hair though, So I still kept them they still sell at carnivals and stuff .. seen someone try to wear them in their hair again a couple of years ago. I still have part of my old ones. The feathers have long since bit the dust I still got the beads and the alligator clips though :)
