When it was popular:
Description: The huckapoo shirts were fitted polyester shirts that often (usually) had a very busy pattern on them. One of mine had curvy blue and white vertical stripes with multicolor arrows on the stripes. At school dances, it was a big deal to "wear your huckapoo".

Hah! We called these "Donny Osmond" shirts because he wore a lot of these. And so did we all!

I was a clothing buyer for Hess's Department Store, a chain based in Allentown PA. Bought Jr. clothes. Huckapoo had a showroom in New York City on Broadway. The sales reps name was Paula R., and what I remember were that the shirts were one of the first imports on the market. The first of many...the shirts were cheaply made, high profit and had very cute patterns. They came in assortments.

30 years ago today I was on the front page of my local paper and my sister reminded of that fact today... wearing a very loud brown and orange diamond pattern huckapoo. I also remember that they did not breathe.

I was computer service bureau salesman and Huk A Poo was a client. I became close to the owner and got my wildly designed shirts with the long collars for free. I was the envy of all my friends.
