Description: These were brown or different shades of brown leather shoes sold at Kinney shoe store, and had the GASS logo on the bottom (Great American Shoe Store), and we actually sat there and looked at people's bottoms of shoes to see if they were GASS or not!

I had a pair in third grade. They were printed on the back of the heel with "Hot Suff" which I found embarrassing.

I had a pair of these too when I was a kid, we'd cover up the "G" and laugh at the "bad" word we had made

Yes, I remember these in grade school in the 70's. Lots of kids had them, and I nearly forgot about things like covering the the "G". Some kids would ink the "G" out. I miss Kinney Shoe Stores! Good memories.

I had a pair of brown ones in the 2nd Grade, 1979. My Mom took a picture of me on the 1st day of school & im mad because she made me carry the free backpack that said "I've Got Gass On My Feet"! lol

I had forgotten about GASS shoes! They were really popular in the mid- to late seventies, esp. around 1976-77 where I lived. Usually brown leather or suede lace-up oxfords that were often kid of padded or quilted on a thick beige-colored rubber or crepe sole. I never had a pair, but I had a similar pair by Dexter. Even though the Dexters I had were nicer and more expensive, I still wished I had the GASS ones that everybody else had.
