Description: These were the first must-have label jeans. They came in a large array of colors and styles with names like "Hi-rise". They were so popular (at least in southern California). After this, many other "label" jeans/clothing became popular. I would LOVE to get my hands on a pair of these. I keep trying e-bay and other sites.

I would just love to find a pair of those ditto Jeans. As a S. Cali girl, I had a pair in each color when in high school. My teenage daughter would just die to see what we then considered "designer label" jeans.

I keep telling people about Ditto Jeans and no one knows what I am talking about. Well I was raised in San Diego, so now I understand why no one in North Carolina knows what I am talking about. I couldn't live with out my ditto jeans. I loved the piping on both hips and the butt of the ones with the back seaming.

I was raised in Palo Alto, CA and Dittos were popular. There were also Luv-Its, which looked somewhat like Dittos. Didn't they call them Dittos because they were supposed to be worn extra tight?

Loved Dittos!! I always considered them my 'dress pants' as I lived in Levi Big Bell jeans. Agree it must have been a California thing about dittos, as I grew up in southern CA; mainly IB, OB, PB & MB.

Ditto's were'nt only a California thing - I moved from Mississippi in 77 and was so glad my ditto's made me fit right in to the Northern California crowd. I've tried to explain to my daughter how the fit and the butt seam was the best!! she doesn't get it. Can someone please bring them back?

I loved Dittos too! I loved being a teenager in the 70's. it was all good....I moved to Alabama 10 years ago and no one has ever heard of Dittos here. It's nice to read all of these comments to learn that they were a California thing and it wasn't just me that loved them. :)

I had 5 pairs of them in Coral,Navy Blue, Baby Blue and Brown. I also had a pair of the Sailor style also. I just recently found a picture of me wearing a pair. I put that picture on my Facebook and eveyone went nuts when they saw my Ditto's. All the guys were like Auh Ditto's.:) Too Funny!! Wish they would make them again as a blast from the past come back. :)

Not only do I remember them, but I grew up in Huntington Beach and that's all I wore. Because I was adopted, my name legally became Ditto. Besides the fact that my dad worked for Xerox, the name "Ditto" just seemed to "fit". Pretty wild that they are back "in".

I grew up in the Los Feliz part of LA. I wore them at the end of the craze just before Chemin de Fer, Jordache and Calvins. I was in elementary school, 4th, 5th grade but I was tall for a 10 year old (5'ft). I also remember Cherokee platform sandals which I never wore because I was too young. I'm 41 now.

I miss the cut of Dittos. For a while, Lee Riders did the tapered waist I need with two darts in the back, to either side of the tailbone. They've now dropped it and I have the big balloon gap at the middle belt loop again. I refuse to buy if it has the bulge (or anything low rise).

I really loved my Ditto's! I had them in many colors and styles including the saddleback version! I grew up in Southern California back in the 70's and these were a must have item for back to school. I am so glad that recently I unpacked a box that held a pair of light blue ditto shorts that I wore in the summer of '76, what memories :)

OMG...I'm 48 now, was just talking about styles we wore in High School, I lived in Artesia, CA. if you were anyone...You would be wearing "Dittos". I loved the Saddle Back Dittos with a cute hoodie top, had all powder blue, drk. green and red. I also had a couple pairs of the Side Saddle Dittos... High Risers were also very sexy to wear. Yes my hinny looked good in "DITTOS". Gotta have hoodie tops to match all the colors.

Wow, I thought I was the only one! I didn't have any Dittos, we couldn't afford them, but I loved the look! I checked the make your own jeans sites to see if you could customize the stitching, but no, you can't. Oh well. I was in SoCal for 20 years. I guess I better get my serger going and make some!

I can't believe I found this thread. I was telling a girl I work with about Dittos and how I had every single color in the 70's! She had never heard of them so I Googled and OMG, this is so funny. I too grew up in coastal San Diego and so, it definitely is a So Cal thing. I'm in Ohio now...boo hoo... Yet, definitely Dittos were my thing and my mom used to say, "those are too tight young lady!" LOL

This is hysterical! I think about dittos from time to time and how excited I was to have two pairs of them in 5th grade. I can't believe there are so many other people who remember them, too. I did a search for dittos and found that they'd been "relaunched" in 2007, but the new dittos are super-upscale jeans- not like the real thing we had.

I wanted Mom to buy me Dittos SO BAD! but she wouldn't buy new clothes, so I had to scour the junk stores for used pairs. I actually was successful, although it took a couple of years to score some. I at least was able to wear a faded pair of yellow ones in 1978. They made us look good, unlike those super low cut ones of today that give girls (even nonfat ones) muffin tops. Bring them back! Its time for high waisted butt lifter pants.

DESIGNERS ARE YOU LISTENING....Not only was the fit perfect, the brushed denim fabric was so soft you never wanted to take them off. The more you washed them the softer they were. Had many colors and my high-school boyfriend told me just the other night how he still remembers how great I looked in my Dittos.

Ditto's were the first had to have piece of clothing as a pre-teen. I had every color and every style. Going to Catholic school and having to wear a uniform every day, made it even more special when you got to wear your Ditto's on the weekends or on Free Dress days at school. I loved my ditto's, they were so comfortable and looked good on you no matter what size you were! Wish I still had them now. I still have several pair of Chemin de fers and my 16 yr. old niece tried them on and we all died laughing. She couldn't believe we wore our pants that tight in the late 70's to early 80's. A Lightning Bolt tee and a pair of Candies and you were stylin! FYI - yesterday's size 9 Chemin de fers are the same size as a size 3 in today's sizes. And we thought we were fat!!!

Dittos were the best when paired with a Lacoste polo shirt and listening to the Bee Gees. They were the perfect segway into the parachute pants/punk rock era. Both genres looked great with a "Members Only" or satin baseball jacket.

OMG what flash backs I'm having! There was a children's clothing store within walking distance from my house, and i'd walk to it just to drool over the Ditto's! I remember BEGGING my parents for a pair (at $15 a pop they were considered a bit pricey then) After pitching in some babysitting money, and I finally was able to buy a pair, my size was gone. I just HAD to have them so bad, that I bought the size smaller and squeezed myself into them! LOL I later got the ombre tan - brown at the waist fading to off white at the bottom; mint colored lace-up front; dark green saddle backs. I also had about 5 of the T-shirt striped Ditto tops. Hands down only pants to be seen in!!

I am a California-born girl who lived in Pennsylvania from approximately 1973 to 1975. When we moved back here in 1975, I was not quite 10 years old and going into the 6th grade. Hadn't heard about Dittos, but my Aunt Dee and Aunt Mary took me school-clothes shopping and bought me my first couple of pairs. I loved them! By the time I was in eighth grade, I had many pairs, brown, tan, rust, yellow, white and powder blue. I had saddleback, sidesaddle and flares. Back then, I wore a size 12 or 14 in girls, no idea what size that would be now! By the way, I lived in Torrance!

I still have a pair of light blue ones in really good shape after all these years. Of course they don't look as good on me as they did in 6th grade :( I found the new ones and they just aren't the same. And at $150 no thanks. Why can't they make them the SAME way they were? How hard could that be? I love showing my kids my old dittos. They can't believe those were all the rage back then. They'll really hate it when I get back into them again.

Dittos were made by Levi, when I mentioned them to anyone no one seems to remember them or I get a really funny look. They were the best jeans and came in all kinds of colors. And I have looked everywhere for them in thrift shops on E-Bay and it is like the dropped of the face of the Earth. I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone out there no where you can find used ones? or maybe in a thrift store somewhere.?

Dittos are back http://www.dittosbrand.com/ They have a Facebook page, and say the jeans will be in Bloomies, Urban Outfitters, and Lord & Taylor this February. Was too young for this trend, but all my cool babysitters wore them, and probably babysat me to get more. I couldn't wait to get a pair when I was older, but by then Espirit was king of the teen scene.

I grew up in SoCal and I wanted a pair soooo badly! My dad thought they drew to much attention to my rear and I wasn't allowed to have a pair! Ah, the injustice of it all! Then one day in 7th grade, a mean popular girl tripped, fell, scrapped her knee, and ripped a bloody hole in the knee of of her brand new yellow dittos. I couldn't stop laughing... Yes, I was bitter! But then I cried along with her because these were Dittos after all.

I was a high school sophomore in Long Beach, Calif. in 1975 when I owned 2 pairs of Dittos. Absolutely loved them. I pleaded with my mom for "just one more pair, PLEASE!!" After being denied, I did something I'm not proud of. I snuck my mom's credit card, rode my bike to J.C.Penneys and bought the white pair I just had to have. Well, I had my Dittos, but the guilt was unbearable! And, of course, it wasn't long before my mom received her credit card statement and confronted me! First and last time I did that! I blame it on the Dittos--they were addicting. Got a job 2 months later, so I could buy my own clothes.

Wow, took a walk down memory lane here. Got on the internet to Google Dittos (sparked by a chance discussion with a stranger in a 7-Eleven store!) Was really hoping to find some good pictures of them, so I could write up some "memoirs" of growing up in the 70's! Came across this post and started reading other's comments - enjoying the trip down memory lane. Ahh, Ditto's...they were the best! :) So...so...comfortable, yes they were tight, but somehow you could still do so much in them (including bending over) and yet hmmm no lycra/spandex in them back then...interesting. Must admit, as I was reading through other's comments, that I got a little excited to think they were bringing back the Dittos - but of course, like most things today's market tries to "revive", the "new" ones are no where near as good as the original. And, of course, that is what WE all are looking for...the "original". [bubble burst---so sad] I too had dittos in every color - but my favorites were white and the butter yellow. Oh, and someone else mentioned the Chemin de Fers - I KNOW I had those (sailor style) which also leads me to remember the "zip arounds" and "lace-ups" - OH YEAH... Of course, as a mom now, I could never see myself wearing most of those pants from "back then" although, I might would consider wearing some "original" dittos if they were to be found! LOL

Not sure if I would still wear them now, but would love to try them on and introduce them to my daughters. Wish they would bring them back!also with I saved them! Not sure where they disappeared to. Kind of sad, guess they are extinct :(

Going through my childhood 'treasures', I came across 2 pairs of Dittos I wore in the 70's. 1 Green pair and 1 Blue pair. The labels are warn, so I have no idea what the size is, but I'm guessing somewhere around 6-7. Kinda fun to remember what we wore back in the day. :) They aren't the saddle seat design, as I always thought they made rear ends look bigger. Anyone know if there's a market for them?

Loved my dittos, so did my husband. He still mentions them after 28 years. I remember going roller skating in Torrance and him following me around. Good memories.

So funny reading all these comments about a pair of jeans that pretty much defined my childhood. Yes I am a man so how could a pair of women's (or girls) jeans define my childhood? Because I grew up surrounded by dittos! It was my father along with two other men whom created Dittos back in the early 70's. Actually they did not create them, they found them. A lady in Utah was sewing them in her basement. They were NOT started by Jordache jeans as another poster mentioned. Jordache bought the brand from my fathers company JoLene Manufacturing located in Provo Utah in the end of the 70's when they had faded from popularity. Growing up my mother along with the other partners wives each drove a Cadillac with Dittos 1, Dittos 2, and Dittos 3 license plates. As stated above, Dittos were all over the country and world for that matter. The only tie to Southern California is the main sales showroom was located in Los Angeles. Even though we lived in Utah where the jeans were manufactured, I lived a great deal in Marina Del Rey where we had a high rise apartment. The entry way hallway was about 20 long into the main apartment. Both sides of the hallway were covered with pictures of all the Dittos advertising shoots, ads, behind the scenes pictures of my father and his partners in various settings etc. A funny story is that as with most youngsters I grew up playing little league baseball, flag football etc. My dad was always the sponsor of the team. So for instance our flag football jerseys were the 'Dittos Feel the Fit' t-shirts. All my team mates freaked out at first but then realized we had quite the female fan base! No other teams did. I grew up with every kind of Dittos marketing chotzkie you could think of. Yo-yos, pens, t-shirts, etc. But the best was the bright orange Dittos feel the fit stickers in the shapes of hands. Every time I would go with my father to the factory such as on the weekends (or any time there was a false burglar alarm) I would stock up on rolls and rolls of these stickers. We had them on everything. I also remember having a total crush on the girl model we used for the advertising. Although I was probably 6-7 at the time and she was probably all of 16. Anyways, very fun memories and even more fun to see such great stories that at the time I had no idea just how big a deal they were!!!

I would love to have a pair of the vintage style Dittos--the ones with the line that starts at the bottom of one pant leg, goes up across the butt and goes all the way down the leg to the bottom of the other pant leg. Those wete so cool. I want to start a new trend

Loved reading Jon's story. I still have my pair of Dittos. No way I can get into them now! Wish I still had my favorite T-Shirt. Front was the "Dittos Feel the Fit" and back was "Grab a Pair" green imprint on white. Loved that shirt.

I was a 13 yr old boy when these were hot in Jr. high in San Diego (Woodrow Wilson Jr. High years 75 thru 77). My wife and I were just discussing these jeans and did a web-search. Needless to say but I spent countless hours starting at the girls behinds while I should have been doing school work. haha Here's a good pic of Dittos: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/128845239312866076/

I also grew up in OC where Ditto's were the thing in the 70's. I loved those jeans and how well they made my butt look!..LOL Jon, great story! Tell your Dad THANKS! I just acquired a pair of vintage Dittos from a thrift store. I believe they're Cobalt Blue. They look as to have only been warn a few times. The white threads where the paper size tag was sewn in on the waistband are still in tact and white. No fold lines on the legs. As if they had been hanging in someone's closet for the last 35 years. (I guess it took someone that long to be able to part with them. I can understand that!..LOL) I just can't find a size on them, though. They're not my size, but I bought them on an impulse for the love I had for them back in the day. :)

I used to buy these at the Bon Marche in downtown town Seattle, WA. They came in all different colors and in the blue jean look also. I had a baby pink pair and a baby blue pair. Beside the jeans also. Wore them for close to 10 years till they fell apart.

They are available at Macy;s...jeans only with saddleback stitching. I went & tried them on today. They also have some straight legs & capris, no saddleback. I ordered a pair of cuffed straight legs off Amazon today. I took pics & posted on my facebook...quite an array of comments. I don't know how much we paid for them back in the 70's, but the regular price is $79 now...Macy's has 25% off.

I'm afraid Jon above has his Dittos history slightly off. Dittos certainly did originate in California and had more than a tangential presence there. By 1974 Ditto of California had factories in San Fernando and offices in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, as well as New York. In 1975 Dittos of California contracted with the business he mentions, Jolene Co. Inc. of Provo, who was a manufacturer of children's clothing, in a licensing agreement to manufacture and sell a children's line of Dittos. Jolene was not involved with the creation of Dittos or with the original adult line of clothing. This information is based on news articles found in the Valley News of Van Nuys and the Daily Herald of Provo, Utah, and can be viewed on newspapers.com.

I have a brand new pair of red size 7 Dittos I never wore and have kept wrapped up in a bag in a plastic crate since the mid-70's. I had hoped to fit into them someday. Now that's funny! Never gonna happen! I will have to find them in storage :)

I grew up in La Mesa, CA. My Mom refused to buy me Dittos or the blue satin jacket. This was the 1st time I had ever asked for a specific type of clothes. And she wouldn't let me watch the movie Grease. I think this caused my 1st fight with my Mom. LOL :)

Dittos were expensive and I can recall that only the middle class and wealthy could afford these nice fitting pants. I do remember that my mother bought me one pair only. I felt so special wearing my Dittos. I worked at Arby's at the age of 15 but only while on vacation from high school. Saving my work money gave me the opportunity to buy more Dittos. I really liked my Dittos line of clothing.

Ditto Jeans were the best looking jeans a girl could wear. Even in my 60’s now I dream the would come back in style. The same with ANCHOR BLUE form fitting jeans. The two best form fitting type of pants of all times. Please bring them back!!!

My story about my Dittos. I was working my first ever job as a waitress at the The Broadway restaurant in Chula Vista H street mall. I gained confidence working there. Lost weight. Wore bikini bathing suites. And exercising daily. When I found how unbelievably comfortable Dittos were I bought 5 pairs to wear for a trip to Texas to visit my brother. This trip was a 36 hour trip on Trailways Busline Trip to Dallas Texas. Me my two sons(ages 2 and 4 1/2 when I arrived in Dallas Texas I was told my luggage was lost. I was so sad. And was replaced only a refund. I never got the those 5 pairs of Ditto jeans replaced, best jean ever.

OMG I did a Dittos/Famolari promo in Emporium Capwells where I wore Dittos with the “Feel the Fit” hand sticker on my butt, while I roller skated around the store. If you bought two pair of Famolari shoes you got a free pair of roller skates. So fun!
