oh my, I remember all the dad's from the neighborhood sitting in one of the garage's and "hiding" while they're swigging a cold one. I still see the ugly hats being sold at flea markets and you can pick them up at yard sales really cheap. Probably from wives who's hubbys used to hide to drink.

I HAVE two vintage beer can hats in my possession: Olympia and Burgermeister. Interested? What do you think they are worth? Thanks for reading. My email: minakers@lakefield.net

I started making beer can hats a few years ago. My kids and their friends have them in soda cans and love them! They are fun and easy to make!

They didn't just use beer cans in these hats. During the crochet and handicrafts trend of the late 60s/early 70s, you more often saw them crocheted with Coca-Cola cans. Anyone else remember the crocheted vests (waistcoats) and mini- and maxiskirts worn at the time, too?

My aunt made one of those hats for her boyfriend - not sure if it was ironic or not but she used Red Cap Ale cans, and red yarn. Oh the 70s ;).
