I can't believe people my age wore these over 30 years ago!

I loved my "Charlie Brown" shoes when I was in the 7th and 8th grade. They were flat and sort of conformed to your feet. So cute and comfortable too. I would love to see a picture if anyone has one of their teenage girl wearing them in the early 70's.

My mother used to make me wear these when I was in kindergarten. I hated them then, and she'd have to wrestle me to get them on. I wanted shiny, black patent leather shoes with the strap across. Fast forward about twenty five years. I have a daughter and guess what she's wearing? She was so adorable in hers, now I understand why my mother liked them.

I am trying to find a picture of the shoes...so far, no luck. But I know exactly what you are talking about and often think about those shoes.

Has anyone tried to wrestle with the Hudson's Shoes website? An utterly absurd exercise.

What a relief to find these posts! Everyone seems to think I'm crazy when I ask if they remember these. I still remember how excited I was when I got my pair in 7th grade. And, yes to Lori. . . there were the authentic ones and the wannabees. These weren't the usual oxfords, but a very trendy version. Would LOVE to have a pair.

It may seem to be silly, that I am over the age of wearing Charlie Brown Shoes, but I still would like to buy them. Does anyone know - where or under which website, I could order it from, pretty please?

Didn't we call them saddle shoes? I had white with a black strip, red soles. Extremely comfortable. Wore mine until the cracked and split. Couldn't find another pair. My mom hated them, but she had to wear similiar ones as corrective shoes when she was little.

I was reading about these and I was wondering the same thing, if they were called saddle shoes? I remember most of the girls in my school wore them and I believe they were worn by many cheerleadering squads. They were white with the stripes in school colors. At least that's the way it was in my area of the world anyway.

I remember my Charlie Brown shoes I loved them. I bought them at Thom McAn at Seminary South Shopping center in 1972 in Fort Worth Texas. They were the best. I wish they would come back into style or something similar. Those were the good ole days.

Loved my Charlie Browns. I had the red patent leather with the navy blue saddle. The saddle was squared off rather than the round of regular saddle oxfords. Only problem I ever had with them was they were very clippery on icy sidewalks at school. But I would buy them again if I could find them.

I wanted to find a pic of these shoes but found this JCPenny Ad instead - no pic :( It looks like it was a black Friday sale "Org. to $8.99...Now $2.98" Man, I wish I had a time machine and take my money back for prices like that!!! Ad can be found at: news google timeline search charlie brown shoes Nov 2, 1971. It appears in the Deseret News.

Found this page after doing a search for the Charlie Brown shoes a bunch of us gals had in the late 70's. They were brown suede and a dark brown suede in the middle. Difference was, ours had a flap that covered the lace up part and had arrow/pointed shape cuts across the front and at the end of the flap. A bunch of us old high school chums (Austin, Texas) are trying to find them. Think they were made by Hush Puppies and may have to contact them to at least get a picture of the right shoe we mean. Did anyone on here ever find them?

I found a exact pair in a quaint shoe store in Glouster, MA... They were $ 11.99. Not true to size, 1 pr left... Not my size... Oh the nostalgia....
Phyllis - April 11, 2011 - Report this comment
You can find something similar on Zazzle.com without the flap though. Search under "charlie brown shoes". They cost $52.99... Alot more then we paid.....

I too wore Charlie Brown shoes when I was in jr. high - I was the only girl in the whole school that wore them! I had 2 pairs, one red and one navy. For some reason I wore the red ones more often so when they were in such bad shape that I could no longer wear them my grandma surprised me with a new pair. Wish I could find some or at least a picture of them to show to my daughter who is now 28 years old!

The closest thing that I could find to this shoe is called the womens Babe Oxford. I found these on Amazon. They come in black, brown, tan and they have 4 two toned colors. Unfortunately no navy or red. When I was in middle school in 1971-72 Paltka, FL, I had the navy and brown. They are close enough that I will be happy with them.

Okay ladies who were Seventies' junior high schoolers! Like all you who left a message, I want another pair of those Charlie Browns, so we need to rally and find a shoemaker. These shoes were flat two-tone brown kilties in a soft suede. Ahh.

I had a brown lace up pair in 7th grade. I remember saving up my babysitting money to get them, they were $9.00 a pair. And $9.00 was alot of money in 1972.

I acquired a pair two days ago from an estate sale, and am thinking of listing them on Ebay today! The box is damaged from long term storage, but the shoes are pristine! I have several pictures of them, if anyone is interested...

I wore Charlie Brown shoes with my school uniform in 9th grade, St. Albans, Queens, N.Y. I remember buying them in Thom McAnn shoe store in Jamaica. They were brown, really cute with a buckle, the slip-on kind and I loved them!

I had a pair of Charlie Brown shoes in brown and wore them out. I was in 7th grade and it was 1970 or 1971. It seems like everyone had a pair of Charlie Brown's. Cannot believe it was 43 years ago.

Had a pair of navy blue Charlie Brown's. The cheerleaders even wore them instead of athletic shoes. very soft leather, flat, lace up, with little pattern of holes on the top!

I think I found a photo. I cannot post the link or the photo but it's was an etsy listing described as 60s/70s Unworn Tan and Brown Suede Saddle Shoes / sz 6 1/2 Med. I found the photo by googling 1970s girls oxford shoes with kiltie tassel. These are not Thom McAn shoes, as most of us seemed to have, but they're very close.

Our Charlie Browns, at my jr high in California were the brown suede with the double t strap. They hade cut outs over the toes. And a heal that was layered with suede leather. I loved these shoes! They went with shorts, dresses, skirts or pants! And so very comfortable!!! I want some now!!!
