    • 10. Jet Airliner by Steve Miller Band
    • 9. Layla by Derek and the Dominos
Ok, ok. You guys are right. And besides, I'm a huge 'Goodfellas' fan...
    • 8. I Wanna Be Your Lover by Prince
A fluffy pop effort on the surface and in the original radio cut, but turns to brilliant funk when Prince does his thing on the bass and keyboards on the album mix. Amazing falsetto.
    • 7. Real Love by John Lennon/Yoko Ono
Hypnotic, dreamy little song with an echoing decay into infinity at the end under headphones. Great.
    • 6. Heart Of Glass by Blondie
I remember the first couple of times I heard this as a teenager in a Tower Records store. Heaven spun gossamer threads. Not the same effect anymore, but I have my memories.
    • 5. Got To Be Real by Cheryl Lynn
Pure, driving, pre-electronic dance energy. Some of the punchiest and swelling brass ever recorded in a pop song.
    • 4. Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd
Repetitive, grim, defiant anthem that sucks you in and hijacks your short attention span nonetheless. Great stuff.
    • 3. Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
Great song in the dark on a fall or winter night just staring at the LEDs on your stereo. Don't like the sax? You'll love this one anyway.
    • 2. 'The Chase' (Midnight Express) by Giordio Moroder
One of the few synth instrumentals that charted well. If you like synths and haven't heard this, you MUST. The mix straight off the DVD is even better than that off the great Casablanca LP.
    • 1. The Robots by Kraftwerk
Seminal techno, brilliant fat synthesis. Some sort of anachronistic commentary on Eastern Block drugery and repression in English, Russian and German. Better than I make it sound.

The 70's was THE golden age of electronic music. Synthesizers were closer to real instuments than at any other time and were expensive enough that they were kept out of the hands of Phillistines.
