    • 10. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John
Not a big fan of Elton John, but I do love this album. Great songs with stories.
    • 9. Tapestry by Carole King
This is the album all the girls wanted to put on at parties so we could make the boys dance.
    • 8. Who's Next by The Who
How could you not love Keith Moon?
    • 7. Love It To Death by Alice Cooper
I still go to Alice Cooper concerts today. He just cracks me up.
    • 6. Pearl by Janis Joplin
Another bluesy rocker I just loved. Another one lost way too young.
    • 5. Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced....) by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Speaking of planes; another time I cried. Too bad that plane ran outta gas. I think these guys would have been the best southern rock band ever if all had survived (esp. VanZant).
    • 4. Life And Times by Jim Croce
This man could paint a visual picture with song. I remember crying when I heard his plane went down.
    • 3. CCR Chronicle by CCR
I think John Fogarty is a musical genius. I love the mystical, Southland-swampy melodies in so many of CCR's songs.
    • 2. 64 Motown Hits by Various artists
An economical way to get the best of Motown at the time. I still know all the words by heart.
    • 1. Sticky Fingers by Rolling Stones
I wore this album out. I'm a sucker for the blues, and I love the Stones rock version of it.

I have to make an exception with this album even though it was released in 1980. "You Shook Me" and "Back in Black" are two of the greatest rock songs ever written. Period.
    • 1. Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Only because they are the best band ever. Not one bad song.

no comment. just buy it along with the rest of these albums on this list.
    • 2. Self Titled by Captain Beyond
This album has so much power and heaviness, it's undescribale. Zeppelin and Sabbath are pussy bands compared to these guys. (i like zep/sabbath too)
    • 1. Self Titled by The Tubes
If you've seen them, you know they are one of the greatest live bands period and very underated band.

it's sad to see none of these really pop on any lists here. If you people were from the 70's, shame on you for not recognizing these bands. I just old enough to buy beer and i got the music down from that era better than most people who just look in record sales guide or afraid to listen to other things. Check these albums i have listed as well as early queen and roxy music, cactus, television, etc. you have opinions too and i realize that, but buy these albums and you'll know what the hell i'm talking about.
