It will take a minute or two to download all the program and sound files. Please be patient

Background
AEGEIS 7 (HEAVY ATTACK CRUISER)
LOG ENTRY 78.4 - 2

POSITION: CENTARUS SYSTEM.

>MISSION COMPLETED. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE INFLICTED ON ENEMY WEAPONS MANUFACTURING AND SPACE TRANSPORTATION CENTERS. FIGHTER ESCORT HAS SUSTAINED HEAVY LOSSES TO GROUND DEFENSE SYSTEMS.

>FOLLOWING ALTERNATE RETURN COURSE IN ATTEMPT TO DRAW ENEMY FIGHTERS AWAY FROM ATTACK GROUP. MULTIPLE BOGIES APPROACHING. EXPECT HEAVY FIRE.

Your ship is being pursued by several enemy fighter squadrons. Your heavy armor makes their lasers useless but their short-range cannons can wear your defenses down quickly. Manning the rear turrent, it's up to you to destroy them before they get close enough to fire.

Playing the Game
Click in the game area with your mouse or hit the 'S' key to start.

Use your mouse to sight an approaching ship in your cross-hairs. A target box will light up when an enemy ship is in your sights, giving the craft's closing speed and range. Click the mouse button to fire.

Whenever an enemy fighter gets past you, it will fire on your ship. You will see the screen flash and shake if they score a hit. Watch your shields - when they go, so do you.

You can pause the game at any time by hitting the 'P' key. Hit again to resume. Use the 'M' key to toggle sound on and off.

System Requirements
You will need a fast machine to play this game, I recommend at least a 200 MHz. It helps if you use a browser with a JIT (just-in-time) compiler for Java. Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape Communicator 4.5 seem to work best. Turning off the sound effects may also increase game speed.

For best effect, you may want to maximize your browser window before loading the game. The page uses a script to set the applet's width and height to fit the available window area.
