Description
This is a plastic corvette with the late 60's, early 70's body style. It is about 30" long with a 6 volt rechargable battery. You would sit on top of the roof of the car and it would haul you around til the battery would run down then you plug it into any electrical outlet. There is nothing written on it except Republic Tool and Die Co. in Los Angeles. Does anyone have info on it's rarity, because I can't find anything.

I have a 1966 republic tool and die ride on corvette. it is 24" long and was a corvette chevrolet dealer promotional item. Known as the republic tool car. i have found 1 other new in the box. they want $995. mine has a place for a "D" batt. when installed the button on the sterring wheel honks the horn, which is located in the back of the car. I think the reason their are none of these around is that if your child sat on it, it wouldn't last very long. Gervaistrashman@gmail.com if you want pics.

I also have the Ride On Corvette - 1966. I found one that sold on EBay for $127.50 in December 2010. I think they are worth more. Information about the car is hard to find. I'll keep searching.

I currently have one of these brand new in the box. These were made by Republic tool and Die of Los Angeles in 1965 for Chevrolet as a 1966 Corvette promo item. My father was in the Chevrolet busisness and kept this one since 1965 I wouldnt consider less than 1000.00 for one in this condition they are rare.

I was born in 1964 and I had one of these as a kid. I drove the wheels off that thing. It is definitely a great memory from my childhood. I feel that I was very fortunate to have it. I actually drov it on the sidewalk as far away as three blocks from my house. :)

After my father passed away in 2007, I was cleaning out his garage and found the Republic tool and die corvette in the box. The box is not in the best shape, but the corvette itself was in excellent condition and it too has a working horn...can't really find any more information about it.

I have one, still in box, with decal sheet, battery, and instructions. It has never been on the ground. I received it from Chevrolet dealer with the purchase of 1966 427 C.I. Corvette.

I had one in 1964. If this is the same one, I remember that they had tools in the truck, working turn signals and headlights and horn. I loved that red car! I got it for potty training. Wish I could see a picture.

This was my dads company. We were in the promotional toy business in the 60's and 70's. Great to see all these terrific comments and memories of the corvette. We also designed and manufactured a ride on tow truck for Union Oil 76.

I have an RTD red corvette. No steering wheel and there is some rust on the metal parts. The battery compartment is there as is the horn. It's been in my neighbor's shed for a couple decades, but she's allowing me to sell it for her. Happy to send pics chance.phone@gmail.com
