I played with these when I was little. I can't remember anything about them either. But I know they are made by the makers of Monchhchi - Washino. I have two of from when I was little and have recently found three in mint condition at a garage sale. I thought I would post a picture for others to see. I would love to learn more about them!

I've got 3 of them, Vanilla, the white one, Nappy, the grey one, and Feleena, the black one. I never did get the tan one. =( Peppi was actually a pale tan, not pure white, at the time they were sold. If I can dig up my vanilla, I can send a picture. They are all floating around in my son's bedroom nowadays!

I've got three of the nyamys, the black one, grey one, and tan one. Looking on the internet I have found more than four nyamys. In other countries there are orange, pink, and blue nyamy's.

I got the white one (Peppi) when I was young...I hauled that thing around with me everywhere I went for at least 3 years. It became grey and matted over time, and it's head fell off...I was heartbroken. Now I'm 31 years old, and would LOVE to get my hands on another one.

They are the Nyamy Kitten Family and here are their names as follows : black Nyamy is named Felina,white Nyamy is named Vanilla,grey Nyamy is named Nappy and tan Nyamy is named Peppi !! They were made back in 1979 by a company called Washino DNP and apparently were recalled after nine months and taken off the market cause they contained iron powder - which is like gun powder when set on fire highly dangerous. They were made back then to be friends to Monchhichi an adorable little stuffed monkey, the Monchhichi's were made by Sekiguchi - also they were very popular in the 70's !! They are so adorable and I always have wanted these when I was a kid but never got them and so a few years ago I started buying them on ebay and was lucky to have found the white,black and tan one and I had them since a few years already and by luck just this month I finally found the grey one so now they are reunited and together again finally - as there were only 4 of these made !! OMG Jasmin, they are too damn cute together!! But I was always under the impression that Peppi was white, not beige...now that I see the other white one, I've now come to realize I've been living a 24 year long "white lie". HAHA...nonetheless, my search for Peppi goes on, and I shall not rest until I find him again. I actually found one on Ebay a couple days ago after my previous post...and right after I saw it, I kicked myself for not learning German back in high school because the whole page was in German!

Melanie I hope you find her !! It took me 8 years to get these 4 together in the mint condition mine are in. But all were found on ebay I searched for them on German ebay, also Canada and England and of course USA. I actually got my white one Vanilla MIB from Germany so the names on her box are all in German and not the english ones used.I luckily speak German but to be honest most Germans do speak some English some even pretty well, so next time you see a German auction you are interested in don't be afraid to contact them.

I actually have all of the nyamy's and I love them to death! I have their matching wicker accessories that they sit on. They are very rare and every once in a while they appear on ebay. If you can't find them in USA look in Germany, I garuntee you will always find one in Germany.

I remember the paper chair they came with for their box display, I don't think mine was paper. I have paid $50 for one, so there are crazier people out there than me! So much fun!

omg!! i cant believe i found something on the internet about these! i have been looking forever with no results. i got the gray one for xmas when i was little. my mom thought it was a monchhichi. i wanted one so badly & we were poor so my mom got this one thinking it was it but when i opened it we realized it was a cat. i remember in the packaging the ears were smashed down & the tail was behind it so it looked like a monchhichi. she was upset she bought the wrong thing but i loved this little cat so much & took it everywhere. once we went to my grandparents in wva for deer season & i forgot it in my grandmothers bedroom. i cried the entire way home. it was a 4 to 5 hour trip & my dad wouldnt turn around, lol. we couldnt get back there for months & when we did, i ran up the steps in the front & my grandmother was standing there holding it. i grabbed it & hugged it so much. i still have her & she is actually sitting next to me right now cause i bought my first monchhichi off ebay the other day & got it yesterday so i wanted to put them together to see how close they look. i cant believe they are filled with that powder. how dangerous! if they came out in 1979, that would have been the xmas i got it since they were recalled. i would have been 7 years old when i got this. i am happy to know its name is nappy & it does sound familiar but since it has been so long, i couldnt remember. i have alot of my old toys from the 70's & early 80's. i am a pack rack & keep everything, lol. thanks to everyone who posted pictured & info on these. now i will have to find the other 3.

I got Peppi when I was small as a Christmas present. I have a picture of me in sheer joy when I received it. And then I remember my mom had to take it away because of the metal shavings. She placed it in a bag on top of the refrigerator. I climbed up on the counter on a regular basis to look at my poor little Nyamy kitten.

Got a grey Nyamy from a yard sale for 25 cents. Soooo....cute! Missing a hand, but otherwise in great condition. My daughter loves it! She calls it Yammy.

I've had Nappy for 28 years and could never bear to part with him!!I got him for Xmas 1982 when I was 8,and he was one of only a few of my stuffed animals that I was able to save after an apartment fire in 1987.He's on a bookcase with books and other stuffies.I love the little guy!!

WOW!!! I have Peppy he has been with me for 29 yearS!! it was a Chrismat gift from my parents. My sister has Nappy. They are adorable....I love Peppy so much. I still have him but he does not look like that anymore...poor little guy. I want to buy one for my little boy who will be 1 in September and always wants to play with Peppy but I am afraid he will finish tearing him up.

I had Nappy in 1979, I loved that kitty. I have always loved grey Kitties..I had a real grey cat that i named Grey-Grey, she was so jealous of Nappy because I played with it all the time, that she would take it and hide it so that I couldn't play with it. Grey-Grey lived 15 years and ofcourse I can't replace her but I would love to find Nappy. I feel like a kid again.

nyamys are not by the same maker as monchichis monchichis were made by a company called Sekiguchi not washino a lot of people mistake them for monchichi freinds, Trust me i've done my research.

the black ones name is Peppi the wight ones name is Vanilla the gray ones namy is Nappy and the tan ones name is Felina, people mistake the black one for Felina and the tan one for Peppi they were put in switched boxes because some ideot put them in the wrong boxes and shipped them off to the U.S., Like i said before trust me i've done my research.

My cat had kitten about a cupple weeks ago she had a calico kitten a oreo kitten and my favorite one tha black kitten my mom first named him patches then i said hay hes looks like peppi so lets name it peppi so now we named all of them the b/w one is Mo the calico is patches and the black one is Peppi! Yay!!!

I have a lot of nyamys when I was a child. I have one green, one grey, two white, one black, and one orange, one red, and one pink:))) always was soo cute!My father bought them in Austria in the 80's years...I would like buy all of nyamy...I had a catalogue, there was maybe twelve colours with his/her names and a short storys about his/her lifes. They are my friends in childhood. Where I can buy nyamys??? Somebody tell for me???

@ Fru, you can buy them on ebay online. They have listings every now and then. The colored ones that were red, green or yellow and purple were knock off Nyamy's not the real ones. The original 4 Nyamy cats came only in white,cream, black and grey. German ebay has most of the knock offs for sale and you also can find the original Nyamy cats there. The 4 Nyamy's pictured above are mine and I still treasure these little critters to this day. :O)

Omg! I hav not been on hee in so long! Actually Jasmin, Fru's Nyamy dolls are not knockoffs, I not sure though but the best thing to do is to look on the back of the dolls feet, If they are realy nyamy I will say Washino co. on the back in cursive,unless they do not have feet.

Hi I was given the grey nyamy, nappy as a present off my mum when i was a child in exchange for a good report from school. My dad made me a wooden rocking cradle for her, I was obsessed with her. I would love tfind another one as my mum has now died and this is one of the beautiful memories I have as a child and of my mum so excited around the kitchen table with my pressie after school. hi@all the company who produced them was the firm called Washino. They were made monchichi too, but only a short thime, so well as i know. There have been more than 4 different nyamys. I dont know it sure, but it gives 15 different colors, it gives some fake nyamys too. the real nyamys were filled in the first generation whith ironpowder (?). So i only know 4 names of the real nyamys. The white one called vanillia, The Black One: Felina. The Beige One: Peppi. The light grey One: Nappy. I have in my collection a rosa colored. I think thats a nice faky, than a light brown one. and a dark brown one. they are real nyamys. the dark orange one, was difficult to get. its an original too i think. its difficult to say. So when anyone knows for the others the names please leave a commend. thanks for read. ;))

I have an original 1979 Nyamy by Washino to sell. It's in good condition. Wears its original green scarf. Tush-tag is fine. I was going to put ii in my eBay store, but if it was recalled it can't be sold on eBay. I sell Monchichi too. My eBay handle is nearlymintcollectibles_com. My store has the same name. I love Nyamy! I currently have 9. Duplicates but each is slightly different in its own way. Just curious, does anyone know what the work "Nyamy" translates to? I tried to google it but nothing came up. Which makes me think it's a made up word. Eh, oh well. One last thing, I'm in search of the orange/red Nyamy if anyone has one to sell. Okay thanks!

I received Peppi (The tan-hued Nyamy cat with the green scarf) when I was extremely young (late 1970s / very early 1980s), and I still have that adorable kitten. I am fairly alarmed about the iron powder news, because nobody ever told me about it before, but I really love my Nyamy kitten.
