A plastic red electronic toy. It had a keypad and you could - ahem - match wits with the microprocessor in a game of Tic Tac Toe. There were other games you could play as well but describing them would be too lengthy.

I loved my Merlin! I got it for Christmas in the late 70's and played it for hours. There was Tic Tac Toe but also a "snake" type game and others. I got another hand held electronic game the following year but I can't remember it's name. It had "more advanced" features. lol

I had this game too back in the 70s; and I remember it had 4 games : Tic-Tac-Toe, Magic Square, Music (yes, you could play music on the Merlin, and some other game (I can't remember it's name)..It ran on 4 "Double-A" batteries that you put in the back ( you had to open up and take off the flat lid compartment)..The funny thing about it though, was that the game resembled a big-red telephone receiver. Mine got thrown in the trash after the battery compartment had a small hole in it (sad)..But it was a great game to play! ^_^
