For clarification...there was a car that ran on air. You pumped it up, and clicked a switch on the side that lowered the restraint from the ramp. Away it went. The Cycle had a crack set up. You pulled the bike back into the ramp/launcher. It had small pegs on the sides that locked in. The gear on the cycle lined up withn the gear on the crank. I think you just cranked it up, and it took off when you stopped cranking. I don't think you had to crank it backwards to have it launch (but I am sure plenty of us tried to grind the gears sometimes). Most of the time the cycle would take off on it's own, after enough velocity was built up.
