My sister and I had the set. Their "costumes" were purple and shiny white faux satin. Donny's was a vest with fringe at the bottom. They both had roughly the same hairstyle too.
We thought the Marie doll was ugly, so we cut its hair and made it into a boy doll for the Barbies!
still have them! My six year daughter now plays with them. I also have sonny, but i don`t know what happened to cher.
My sister and I got Donnie & Marie dolls for Christmas one year, I thought the microphone that stuck in the hole in his hand was cool. I gave Donnie to my sister as I wanted to play with my G.I. Joes.
I bought my two oldest girls Donnie and Marie Dolls. I have them put away so they can have them again someday!They are just like the picture and in very good shape.
I loved my Donnie & Marie (although I cut her hair to feather it back....). The thing I remember most was Donnie's purple socks!

I got the donny and marie dolls for christmas in 1978,the last christmas with my dad,it was christmas eve,and i usually could open 1 gift before christmas,so that's the gift i chose,he didnt know it,then he hollers from the other room that i couldn't open a gift,we had to wrap it back up,crazy.
Mine are upstairs...still in the boxes!!! I remember that they were on sale (marked down) at Sears and I asked my mom and dad to buy them for me, that I wanted to put them away. I was 17 then...I guess I'm "vintage" now! ;)
I can't believe it. I had these dolls growing up. I wish I still had them. Seeing the pictures of these dolls brings back so many memories. I got them for my birthday. I still have pictures of all my Donny and Marie stuff.

In 1976 I told Santa that all I wanted were the Donny and Marie dolls. Back then, $10 a piece was kind of expensive for a fashion doll (Barbie's didn't cost that much). I still have them today.
I got both the Donny and Marie dolls for Christmas from my grandma when I was about 6. Had a lot of good times with them performing concerts along to my good ol' 8 track tapes until one sad day I came home from school to find the dog had got in my room and ate Donny's head. Poor Donny. :( I still have the Marie doll put away in a special box though.
we hadnt much money as children but I had a mad crush on donny. So for christmas my dad who worked 3 jobs . went without to buy me these dolls(without telling anyone)They were more expensive back then .regular barbies were half the price.:( my hard working dad is know gone.I still have the dolls&donny&marie are rich :(

I STILL HAVE THESE DOLLS TODAY, STILL IN BOXES AND NEVER REMOVED, I LOVED THE DONNY AND MARIE SHOW AND GETTING THESE DOLLS FROM THE USA FROM 1976 WAS A THRILL AS YHEY WERE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE UK!
