Description
"Action Jackson, that's his name, Fun & Adventure, that's his game, AAACTION JAAACKSON!" He was bigger than the Dawn dolls but probably 2/3 the size of GI Joe, and was jointed from ankle to wrist. Had a very ugly molded head and face, kind of a pained and wrinkled expression, and his hair was painted on. He seemed to wear jump suits and ride a motor bike or something. My brother had one.

Action Jackson revolutionized the action figure market. He had several outfits, accessories and vehicles and was more affordable than the popular-at-the-time GI Joe. His body was used to expand the company's (Mego) lines into Super Heroes, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek and many more worldwide. Mego became one of the most successful toy companies of the 70-80's...all starting with the humble AJ. MegoMuseum is the best source of information for him.

Even though I'm a woman, I like Action Figures. Ole' AJ was my first one. I saw the ads on TV and I knew I had to have one. I talked my parents into it. And he went everywhere w/ me. I remember the day I brought AJ to kindergarten, and all the creepy little boys who didn't like me wanted to be my friend, so they could play with it. I also remember losing him, and asked for another one for Christmas. Well I got another one, and 2 outfits for him, and we found the first one behind the couch, so I had 2! Now I have all of the varieties of AJ. I have lots of action figures, but AJ will always be my favorite.

I did my best to turn my AJ figures into various super heroes until Mego had the good sense to market a line of super hero action figures. Then my AJ’s all became villains henchmen
